The Fronius Primo grid tie string solar inverter is a simple to install, yet powerful option for your grid tie solar system. With models from 3.8kW to 15kW, you have a wide range of sizes to choose from. Additionally, multiple inverters can be stacked to grow your solar system as needed. The simple snapINverter installation method makes for an easy one person install, saving time and money.

The fronius is a SINGLE not SPLIT phase inverter. It only works with 240V.

Would it be more electrically efficient to mount this by the panels and run the ac to my house? The wire run is going to be about 80' to 100' long. Looks like I'd need 4awg 4 wire...? Tnx!

I know the swing panel is cool and all but the attention it gets is way too much for what an inverter really needs to do. Nice video!

Can i use a 1npe 240v inverter on a 127/220v grid by connecting the neutral of the inverter to a phase of the grid and connecting the phase of the inverter to another phase of the grid

Hey altE, why don't you guys sell the ABB UNO series inverters?

jahrob146 We carried them years ago, but they didn't have much brand recognition, so they weren't a big seller.

Would upsizing the inverter have any negative issues? Price aside. What I would like to do is get a Primo 10 and start with a 5000 watt roof array. And later add a ground array. The reasons are that I have to bury cable in limestone and would prefer to run 10/3. I have a power pole 50 feet away from the house and don't want smart meters near the side of the house. So I am running from Primo indoors out to pole with meter and breaker.

The inverter would not be as efficient running at half power, but it wouldn't harm it. Based on the online string sizer, I'd probably run 2 strings to MPPT1, maximizing that efficiency, then add longer strings and a new string to MPPT2 when you are increasing the array size. See the screenshot here, imgur.com/c8wTUmP . Also note that a 10kW inverter needs a 60A AC breaker, so you may need to do a line side tap to connect to the grid, especially if you only have a 200A breaker box.

altE thank you good info. I might just start with a 5.0 and the rapid disconnects since I do also plan on also running a separate 48 volt battery based system for emergency power.

You could go with a 7.6 or an 8.2 and maximize the unit at a later date on the second MPPT tracker. If you have more questions regarding design, give me a call at Fronius.

Emmitt J. Muckles thanks for the reply. I found the Fronius FSC tool, it's recommending a Primo 6.0-1 with two strings to handle the voltage. Awesome tool showed I could loose watts with a 5.0-1.

A follow up note. Since my array is split east west it will never get full wattage. So a 5000 should be good for my 5900 watt array. I blew off oversiving concept. I do have a detailed question about settings that San Antonio CPS power has on the application. I'll make a video next week showing the info they are asking. Income tax time is when I'll order the unit.

Could this be installed on a bus to power a small dental office?

No, it is a grid tied inverter that must be connected to the grid at one location. You need an off grid inverter like something from Magnum, Outback, or Xantrex.

Not on the Primo. But I think the other line, the Sismo?, you can.

I have a Primo 10kWh inverter. Is it normal for these things to suck 1kWh off the grid / month while it's dark out? I'm having a hard time believing that somebody would build something this way to run an LED. Bottom line is that I get a bill EVERY MONTH for $34.66 in service charges for 1kWh OFF PEAK @ $0.065 based on this usage. That's $8k in service charges during the term of my FIT contract or about 12% of my profits GONE BEFORE I REPAY THE COST OF THE SYSTEM.
