For anyone who's interested; I did my 1st year residency process in Playa Del Carmen and the entire process, including biometrics, was done the same day with no appointment. I got there at 09:00 and collected the card at 15:00. It was done on March/2023.
Good job and very helpful👍
Thank you so much for your information. I was lost prior to watching your video.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your video. This is extremely helpful!
Thanks! Glad it helps someone
We are renewing our residency cards in Sonora (Puerto Peñasco) and are not allowed to have 2 people on 1 Application/Solicitud. Each person needs their own form.
Thankfully the Mazatlán INM offices will do the 3 year extension - I'd hate to have to return every year! At the end of the 4 year period, Mazatlán has also been known to occasionally ask for financials when converting to permanente. This is not a requirement, but people have said they were asked - just an FYI.
Thanks for the data point!
How do you let them know, you would like to renew for 3 years, by telling them at the window at the INM office or do you need to fill out some online form, where you are selecting the 3 years? I would appreciate, if you could answer this question. Thank you
@@bhembroideryprintingYou do fill out a form, and you also tell them at the window. There is a personal statement letter that many offices do want, where you would state it. This was the first time I've ever heard of an office not extending for the three years - it's supposed to be an option. There's even a fee schedule for it. Just goes to show that every office is just a little different.
Is there still an immigration office on Cozumel?
Great details ..! Can you also make video on Getting Tax ID
On my wish list. Hardest part is getting a water, electricity, or TelMex bill if you are short-term renting

1.) I asked my Airbnb host and he helped me with those last time when I asked !
2.) So if we are going to Playa Del Carmen INM office for 3yrs extension will they accept Cozumel address proof..?
3.) I got my 1st Temp Residency in Cozumel office with Cozumel address !
Thanks a lot for the info! I learned from your video that in Cozumel, we can only do a one-year renewal, so I decided to go to CDMX for renewal. Quick question: do you know if we can change the address and renew the TR at the same time? Thanks again.
You should be able to. You can submit both at the same time. I would imagine they would process the change of address first.
@@caminoriconomad thank you!
Can it be renewed if it has been 1 year?
Hello again..Your video last year helped me with the process and this year Im applying to renew but with some changes in status and address. The Website I am able to login and retrieve my NUE but when I accept the doc and agree, Nothing happens, No completed document from download or adobe popup. Adobe is install and no popup blocking. Im getting same results in multiple browsers and computers. Suggestion? I know its not rocket science. haha
I went to the local office and showed the workers the problem. We then tried NOT using the NUE and re-entering the personal info including passport which WORKED. Just an fyi to anyone else having the same problem when MAKING CHANGES to status
If I used an facilitator for my 1 year temporary residency. For my renewal, when completing the application, can I click on the box I know my NUE to utilize the auto fill of existing information, or do I need to complete the entire application.
Check the box! You have a NUE, use it! You should see your facilitator's info also
We had an attorney help us with our first year temporal. She did not give us a copy of the Formato Basico. If nothing has changed do we need to complete the form again for our 3 year renewal? Thank you for sharing the information in your video.
Yes, you will submit another Formato Básico. 🙁
So if you used the hotel or abnb address do you just keep using it or do you have to change it (and to what) if you haven't relocated to MX?
If you haven't made a permanent move to Mexico yet, it is a little bit of a dance with an address. If you are renewing at the same INM office as before, I wouldn't stress about it too much. Technically, yes, you should file a change of address if you are staying at a different Airbnb/etc. when renewing, but INM doesn't knock on doors to verify everyone's address. Important thing is to have a valid address in Mexico for the town under the jurisdiction of that INM office.
@@caminoriconomad Thank you. I will use a hotel and stay at the same hotel when I come back for renewal. I appreciate your response.
Hi, what's the next step after the 4 years of having a plastic temporary residency card? Do I need to go the INM and exchange it for another card?
Correct. From the INM site, you will look for "Cambio de Residente Temporal a Residente Permanente/Change from Temporary Resident to Permanent Resident." Similar process and you will receive your green RP card. After five years, you can decide if it makes sense for you to apply for naturalization/citizenship.
@@caminoriconomad Thank you!! 😊
I'm about to go to Playa Del Carmen to renew my card for 3 more years . I'd really like to just go straight to permanent. Does anyone know of any INM office that is currently allowing that? I wish Cozumel was still offering that option!
Check Facebook groups for general Mexican immigration. I believe I've seen La Paz mentioned.
Thank you. I'll go check.@@caminoriconomad
@@caminoriconomad Thank you. I'm checking facebook. Looks like some people have been successful going from 1st yr to perm but with only with financials or with similar criteria met. I'll keep searching.
As for the rest of your video, thank you for the content. I used it to get my renewal paperwork together and am set to go. It made the task much easier! If I can get this permanent issue straightened out, it will be a blessing for me. Thanks again!
Address Change in USA or Mexico ..?
México
That part about notifying changes is a bit hard if you are not in the country. I have a PR card and recently got divorced, but can't notify the changes as I am in Australia and not planning a trip to Mex until September October which is going to be almost 9 months after the changes, been I contact with the embassy , but no one can provide an answer.
If your consulate is of no help, the worst-case outcome may be a fine when you update your information when in Mexico.
Can you renew at another INM?
Yes, but, you may have to be a resident of that area and complete a change of address before or at the same time as your renewal.
@@caminoriconomad make sense
I'm in Playa Del Carmen now (February 24, 2024) to renew my temporary residency for 3 more years. Last year I came to the same INM office and the entire process to go from Temporary Resident Visa to Temporary Resident was done in the same day - from arrival at 09:00 to collecting the card at 15:00. This year I arrived on February 19th, 2024 and they gave me an appointment to return in 3 weeks, March 11th. Yikes! That means I'll miss my March 5th return flight back to Canada. That's a very significant expense and inconvenience!
So heads up! PDC is taking 3 weeks to process residency applications at this time!
Thanks for sharing!
Update new process in Playa Del Carmen INM - Starting from March 1st, 2024, applicant to schedule an appointment for Renewal, notification should present your original documents and a simple a proxy letter that authorized other people to act on you behalf, so it’s necessary for applicant to be in Mexico!

So Playa Del Carmen gives 3yrs Renewals still ..? What about Cozumel office will they also give 3yrs Renewals..?
After March 11th how many days it took to get your 3yrs card
@@10X_Brain_Time Yes, Playa gives 3 yr renewals. I went to INM within 30 days (mandatory) of my 1st yr card expiry date. From there they gave me an appointment to return for processing. On the same day of the appointment date, the paperwork was submitted, the biometrics was done, and I received the 3 yr residency card. That was about a 6 hr process. In all, the entire process took exactly 3 weeks. I did this in March 2024. It may be a longer or shorter time to get the appointment, but this was my experience.
