I’d like to defend the point about how Ping in Kung Fu Panda 3 had his ark ‘forgotten’. Because he really didn’t. When it comes to adopted kids it’s a whole lot different when the biological parent(s) come back into the kids life than before. In KFP2, Po thought all the pandas were dead, Ping was ALL he had as family. But now his father is alive and they share all these traits? Yea that’s gonna sting a lot more.
Watching 'Shrek the Third' after Queen Elizabeth's death ended up getting a new reaction out of me because the entire kingdom of Far Far Away being closed on King Harold's funeral was 100% accurate.
Kung Fu Panda 2 and Puss In Boots the Last Wish are my favorites out of all of the DreamWorks sequels. They both have great stories, amazing animation, awesomely choreographed fight scenes, well-developed characters and of course, they both have the best villains in any animated film.
Gary Oldman excelled as the main villain peacock of kung fu panda 2 I have to agree.
Same. Honestly, those two are my top 2 favorite Dreamworks movies and even animated movies in general.

The only saving grace for Makunga’s character is that he’s played by Alec Baldwin, and you can tell how much fun he’s having.
I do see myself defending Kung Fu Panda 3 more than most. However I was also pleasantly surprised by how positive you were even to Shrek 3!
I'm a bit sad Rise of the guardians never got a sequel. I could see a new villain based on the Headlesshorseman capturing Sophie Bennet then Jamie and his friends have to saved her. Jack and Tooth are a couple, accompagny the childrens. Bunny too but he could get badly hurt by the villain and almost dies which add drama to the story. Sophie get rescue then hug him. A nice story about friendship and teamwork. I would love to watch it 😃
Oh as a major Rise Of The Guardians fan I would so dig that!
Idea: swap out headless horseman for a little known legend such as El Sibion, which could give it a really nice dark edge. Maybe make his motive to be believed in through fear, pair it with his lore for a moral that just because he had horrible things happen to him doesn't justify his actions

You said that Po had an identity crisis in Kung Fu Panda 2 and 3, but the thing in 2 wasn't an identity crisis. He had the fear that his parents just abandoned him in a radish crate. That drives the what is my past and accepting himself mentally. In 3 Po now learns that his people are alive, and this is him having an identity crisis because he is learning about all these things that make him who he is, and he needs to learn to accept himself completely. He isn't one of these different characteristics. He is all of them.
Dude had more positive things to say about Trolls 2 and Boss Baby 2 than Kung Fu Panda 3 ☠️
Yeah I get The third is the weakest one but that doesn't mean it ruined the franchise, it's still had a good premise lol

I think the prince of Egypt is easily the best dreamworks movie but my second choice would be puss in boots last wish and third is shrek 2

I’m sorry that your opinion of Kung Fu Panda 3 has soured, and although I love the third film, I would also like to offer some constructive criticism. I believe that the perceived repetitiveness could have been alleviated by having Po already know chi at the start, so that the Furious Five and him can spend the movie teaching Li and the Village Pandas how to use it. This would also allow the “Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness” TV series to remain canon and not alienate fans of the show.
Kai could have also had some scenes showing why he wanted to steal chi and fought Oogway. Maybe he thought that the Panda’s chi could be used to protect their army from injuries like what happened with Oogway. But Kai feels that Oogway betrayed HIM, because Oogway tried to stop Kai from protecting him.
I also would have expanded upon Shifu’s line, “Before the battle of the fists, comes the battle of the mind,” by having Kai use some of the Jombies against his enemies to demoralize them. Such as having Tai Lung and/or Oogway fight at the Jade Palace, or Lord Shen fight at the panda village, to act as psychological warfare. This could make Kai seem more intimidating, while also giving the third film stronger connections to the previous two.

@@alisonsouter8788 I think the firework circus performance scene solos most of Kung Fu Panda 3 but I think Kung Fu Panda 3 is still top tier DreamWorks but Madagascar 3 is a better installment and it took me long enough to justify that.

My issue with the Spirit movie is that it couldve been its own movie not attached to Spirit himself. His own movie was perfect, maybe one of Spirits friends or future kin? I dunno.
I don't see pose journey in Kung Fu Panda 3 as a retread of Kung Fu two. I see that as more of a journey of po trying to learn of where he came from and find inner peace with the fact that he's adopted. Kung Fu Panda 3 is him having to look deep into himself and figure out who he is as a person.
Kid Danger: *wearing his mighty pup movie outfit* i love Shrek the Thrid AND Puss in boots the last wish! And say ANYTHING bad about them, you will be getting a visit from Dark Kid Danger. Good? Pawsome.
I feel like the top 3 are interchangeable since they're all great
I don’t really hate Shreck 3 either. But I’m not going to lie, I think it’s mostly just because I like Arty. I really like the trope of the nerdy outcast getting put into a stressful situation in which a lot is expected of them, but learning how to rise to the challenge in their own unique way and accepting themselves for who they are. As someone on the autism spectrum I find this trope extremely relatable. Even if the character is in an otherwise terrible movie, I often end up still watching it just for that character and their story. And while I think Arty also could have been much better written, he does have some genuinely funny and touching moments. The fireside talk with Shreck is sweet, and the scenes where he gets all theatrical (the scene where he fake cries to get Merlin to help him, and the later scene where he starts treating Shreck like a celebrity to outsmart the guards who are chasing them) tend to get a pretty good laugh out of me. But that said, I realizing that I’m biased and that’s honestly the only reason I don’t hate Shreck 3 😂
And all that said, How to Train Your Dragon and Kung Fu Panda are MUCH better film series that follow that same trope. And I’d much rather watch either of those instead.
Putting Boss Baby 2 over Madagascar 2 is a crime. Madagascar 2 is a cinematic masterpiece, I like how we get to see what every character is doing and the movie is entertaining. The penguins are my favourite part of the movie.
Marty is OOC and unlikable and Melman and Gloria are too sappy for my liking.
And Makunga's such a shitty villain and copy of Scar.
I honestly thinks it's the worst on trilogy. I prefer 1 and 3.

A solid ranking, but some of the writing is contradictory. You say, or imply, you dislike "Kung Fu Panda 3" yet rank it higher than "Boss Baby 2" which is a guilty pleasure of yours. Stuff like that made me question if the ranking was properly thought out from start to finish. Despite that, it was enjoyable.
I have to give credit for your praising of Madagascar 3. I watched the entire trilogy two years ago, and I wasn't impressed with the first two instalments; they were fine, but didn't have much of a story to tell. So the third instalment was a big surprise; so much more inspired, colourful, and compelling, and it's all wrapped around a tightly woven narrative with more emotional weight. Definitely one of my favourite DreamWorks films, period.
Oh, and "Shrek 2" and "Kung Fu Panda 2" are absolute masterpieces; I can watch them anytime and fail to grow sick of them.
I mean imo the best Boss Baby movie still being worse than the worst Kung Fu Panda movie makes perfect sense to me. Having high expectations for a franchise you might have emotional investment in and being disappointed in a sequel vs. having low expectations for a franchise you might consider an amusing guilty pleasure and not much else

Fair'nuf, but it's poorly contextualised. If you put a film you dislike higher than one that delivers enjoyment, I'm going to question it. If he said "Kung Fu Panda 3" is a better film he personally liked less, I can get behind that.

Boss baby 2 is undoubtedly the best. Best continuation of the first movie in terms of themes, character arcs and general story. Its not only better than the first boss baby but 100% top 3 DreamWorks movies and for personal preference the funniest movie they made. Also its 100% the best sequel as it continues and handles the themes of the first movie with family connection and time we have with them and how to respect it so well. Even better than the first

I will say I do like Kung Fu Panda 3. It’s just good. It’s not my favourite one, the five apart from tigress are too shoved aside, Kai is an underwhelming villain, it does kind of drag until we get to po training the pandas and i still do get upset with Li for what he did to Po even if I understand why he did it, the pandas (apart from Li and Lei Lei) are not very interesting and I wouldn’t really mind taking a nap during a lot of the movie. But with that said it still is fine to me, Po is still his lovable goofy self, his plot about accepting who he is this time goes into the future (since his inner peace was about his past) it does show his and tigresses friendship has grown, that scene with Po and Li looking at the picture of his mother was a sweet moment, i was legitimately shocked and worried seeing Po sacrifice himself and the talk he had with Oogway was nice. And everybody training at the end was a nice ending I do find myself kicking some ass. And the talk ping has with li (apart from the wrong things for the right reason talk) was a very nice one. And it does make me laugh, and the little panda cub Lei Lei is cute. Overall I think it’s good but not great. It does have a fine conclusion (even though it could’ve explored chi a little better; though it was a nice moment when they all use it to save Po). Once I saw a rewritten version on tumblr that sadly seems to have been deleted, which made me see how amazing it could’ve been. The fact that the film was not the best is why I’m really nervous for Kung Fu Panda 4 next year since in my opinion shrek forever after was pretty bad. Only time will tell. I blame some of the problems on complaining parents, apparently the second film received many complaints from parents for being too dark so they ended up making it less darker than they planned.
Somehow I can handle finding dory being lighthearted I guess my love of her makes it worth it, and also knowing the Incredibles 2 had a bit of a rushed production I still find it really amazing, yet KFP3 can be a bit underwhelming.
I am more optimistic towards Pixar than DreamWorks.

Okay, right. Spirit Untamed is easily the worst sequel from Dreamworks (except for Megamind 2, who we don't talk about). This should be placed last, though I think Shrek The Third is still a strong competitot.
About Madagascar trilogy; IMAO 1 is the best, 3 is the second best, and 2 is the worst. I just don't understand why people seem to adore Madagascar 2 só much.
I want rise of the guardians to get a sequel where there is a new villain that is kidnapping children leaving Jamie the last kid and Jamie will be so scared that pitch black will have to team up with the guardians to save all the kids of the world and when they come up with a plan jack says that someone will desecrate the guards to free the kids pitch black will do it and after the guardians saved all the kids jack frost will fly around the jail to find pitch black after he was gone for 3 hours than jack frost will see pitch black on the floor with his right hand on his chest and jack will see pitch's blood leaking out of pitch and jack will take pitch back to the workshop and after 4 months pitch is better and i think that is where the movie will end

I respect your opinion on The Croods: A New Age it’s my favorite DreamWorks film and my all time favorite animated film. Dawn Betterman is my favorite Croods Character and my favorite DreamWorks character. She’s kindhearted and compassionate and caring for others including her friends like Eep and I like how her friendship with Eep isn’t a rivalry but genuine

I respect your opinion but I like Madagascar 2, Kung Fu Panda 3, and The Croods A New Age. I also found Shrek The Third and The Boss Baby Family Bussiness and Trolls World Tour as guilty pleasures.
For me, Kung Fu Panda 3 ends up being better than How to Train Your Dragon 3, I feel like they reset Toothless so badly in terms of personality, he is so much more dumbed down from the first two movies, even the series(ESPECIALLY the Netflix series).
There is a video that goes over the main issues with HTTYD 3 and one of the points brought up was about Toothless getting dumbed down into a puppy. The director's notes from the first movie changed from primarily taking inspiration from big cats to dogs by the third movie, whilst the Light Fury had kept the graceful traits from HTTYD 1 Toothless.
Never mind that the third movie was them awkwardly trying to shoehorn in the ending of the books which had a MUCH different storyline. In the end it just took a sledgehammer to everything the characters had accomplished between the first two movies and TV series. "There will always be dragon hunters therefore we shouldn't strive to take care of and live alongside dragons". RTTE Hiccup would have kicked HTTYD:THW Hiccup in the balls for suggesting that.
I agree on list but I but Boss baby and Trolls sequel at the tail (Shrek 3 is the tip) because those films aren't my cup of tea, I'm a sucker for Panda and and Dragons that I but in top five list

The problem with Shrek the Third is that it ruined Shrek's reputation for general audiences. Before, Shrek one was the beginning of a new anti-disney Era of animated movies. An Era that even caused Disney to start changing their shtick with movies like Chicken Little. Shrek the Third caused general audiences to completely forget all about all that. Now Shrek was nothing but a silly animated movie series for kids. Something that the first two movies never were.
That's why animation lovers hate Shrek the Third

DreamWorks for me is a mixed bad animation studio for sequels. On one hand, yes they can make great sequels like Shrek 2, Madagascar 2 and 3, Kung Fu Panda 2, How to Train Your Dragon 2 & 3 and Puss in Boots 2 the Last Wish. But on the other hand, they can make lazy, crappy, worse cash grabbing sequels like Baby Shit 2, Trolls Sucks Tour, Spirit Shit Tamed, and Croods 2 A New Age.

To be honest, I still considered Baby Shit 2 Shit Business (a much better title) 💯 😌 😏 👌 as the worse DreamWorks sequel ever made even worse than Shrek the Third.
As least with Shrek the Third, there are few aspects that I did like where King Harold's death was sad and the idea 💡 of Shrek learning to become a father. Shrek the Third at least is just boring. Baby Shit 2 Shit Business on the other hand, I feel nothing. I hate the predictable story, the uncanny ugly animation annoying unlikable characters, and horrible cringey comedy humor and terrible voice acting. Plus, I never feel a bond between Tim and his daughter. 😒
TC: ANA is my least favorite Dreamworks movie of all time.
