- Well this may very well spark up some conversations. Welcome to my tier list of absolutely every movie release by the british Aardman Animation! Home of Wallace & Gromit, Chicken Run, and Flushed Away. As a studio that is near and dear to my heart, and also in the near vicinity, I thought it was only best to start with this studio for a full-scale ranking video. From their heights as the most profitable stop-motion movie, to the lows of corporate breakups, let's cover the full history of the studio and dictate which of the movies are our favourites. I may have a divisive opinion to the masses, but nonetheless, I Ranked EVERY Aardman Animation Movie...

...But how would you put a list together for all the movies..?
Yeah, my list is likely a little different from yours haha. So how would you rank every Aardman Movie..?
All the Wallace and Gromit films at the top, then probably pirates, then the robin, then I’m not sure.
Wallace and gromit: curse of the where rabbit
The psa they made
Flushed away because i remember loving it
Chicken run
... Shawn the sheep
The Wallace and grumit shorts because why not
Chicken run 2
Idr the rest sorry
Sorry i never seen pirates yet
mostly the same other then the Arthur Christmas it be around the bottom for me with Wallace and Gromit the wrong trousers as the number 1
Early Man is underrated.
“Pirates in an Adventure with Scientists” is one of the funniest animated films I’ve seen in years and I’m genuinely upset it doesn’t get nearly the amount of attention it deserves
Love that movie.
Can recommend the book if you can get it
“London smells like Grandma.”
One of the Pirates movies that stands out the most that is not Pirates of the Caribbean.
@@bighand1530 💯
The best thing about Aardman movies is that none of them are outright terrible. They all have unique qualities which make them enjoyable to all audiences.
7:27 The only problem with that theory is that most of the other VAs came back, except for Fowler's since he died back in 2017. But yes, Ginger and Rocky's replacements do sound pretty awkward.
I couldn’t even tell the difference tbf
Wallace and Gromit Curse Of The Were Rabbit and Flushed Away are childhood classics.
I was so obsessed with Flushed away when I was younger I had the dvd and watched it all the time :)
I remember when i was younger i thought the movie was stop motion and was disappointed to learn it was cgi since i thought i was looking at really impressive stop motion animation
:)
Same, I was obsessed with that film when I was a kid
Dude, these captions are terrible. Distracting too, since I can't turn them off.
Yeah, they are obviously AI or something
If they didn't have as many mistakes as they did, it would be a tad more acceptable. But I agree, I don't see the need for them being there, not like Dazz tends to mumble or speaks in a "hard to comprehend accent" to the average listener/watcher.
@@QaRajhCreations Yeah, like "Sandy Newton"? Really?
TH-cam has captions for a reason. This is just the TH-cam Shorts format converted into an actual full length video.
Loved the video though the subtitles are a bit off. It’s almost as bad as TH-cam’s auto generated subtitles. Hopefully it can be fixed in the future.
Arthur Christmas is my favorite Christmas movie of all time, and my second-favorite Aardman film, after Curse of the Were-Rabbit. 😊
My favourite Aardman movie has to be chicken run
Nice
Lol, the caption said 'roll dollberg' instead of Roahl Dahl book...
19:57
Ah yes, my favorite animation studio: Almond
But still, the captions are a bit off
Made Pikmin into Pokemon at one point.
It said Life in Death rather than Loaf and Death
It said thoughts in victorias skirt instead of swords

My dad worked for Aardman in the early naughties, and I got to see lots of the models and meet lots of famous people.
that’s genuinely so so cool. what a magical job to have
What’s with the subtitles? They are completely off at times.
10:59 accessibility for death. And non-verbal viewers 😂😂
@@diddlydilts2796 Ironic how he's talking about accessibility when the 'accessible' subtitles are out of whack
they were hundred percent done by ai there is no WAY a human wrote these
@@meevins no shit sherlock
@@diddlydilts2796 I agree that's *usually* the point of subtitles but they're not that useful when they're this off. Most of the people with disabilities will be using the subs as an aid rather than replacement. They can't really aid you as you listen when there's such a huge mismatch.
Hire someone to fix your subtitles, hell I'll do it for a Tesco meal deal
Agree with a lot of your list, wish Dawn of the Nugget could've been better!
One thing I wanna mention quickly: the subtitles are way off on this video. "Aardman era" = "of an era", etc etc etc
They're distracting and making me second guess what's being said. Would prefer they either be accurate to the audio or be removed.
Yeah, I started to realize that as well
please stop putting subtitles at the bottom i prefer having the option to turn them on and off
The wear rabbit was the first ever of these movies I saw and it scared the shit out of me as a kid lol but it's the movie that inspired me to try and do claymation
Chicken Run was honestly one of the best
One of the best for sure.
One of the best films of 2000
you’re so right

Funniest line for you?
Aardman was so much of my childhood. Loved this ranking!
Same here, along with Disney, Pixar and, Universal, and Dreamworks

Aardman is a pretty good animated studio with a lot of heart and passion
Agreed
I like how the subtitles changed pikmin to pokemon.
I wanna watch more Pikmin vids now.
Flushed Away is one of my favourite movies of all time 😂 I loved it when I first saw it, and I love it now.
The mime scene with the phone is such a creative scene only Aardman would come up with that.
FINALLY, SOMEONE ELSE RECOGNISES THAT ARTHUR CHRISTMAS IS AN UNDERATED MASTERPEICE
I liked chicken run 2 and didn’t mind early man so this shows how good arrdman is
The captions are great. I love when Aardman becomes Almond 😂
how come u were born in the 2010s ############
My favorite Aardman flims
Are Wallace and Gromit
Chicken Run
And Flushed Away
Love this video EBI you proofread the subtitles!
I absolutely LOVE Aardman. I technically met Peter Lord before. Young me and my (now late) grandfather were in Bristol, and we stopped in a pub because he wanted to check the score of a football match and get a drink. And there was the man himself, Peter Lord. Me being about 6 at the time, I didn't know who he was and also, I was shy. We were next to him. He flashed a smile at me :O
03:28 Should we tell him it is about stone age vs bronze age?
Absolutely adore Aardman. And apparently I have very strong opinions about this ranking order I wasn't expecting haha
Man, that penguin _terrified_ me as a kid.
Great video but really got to work on those subtitles: they’re really off, if they’re part-automated they could defo do with a read-through check before upload.
Your commentary shows a love for the material but then the captions don’t know who Roald Dahl is or how to spell Gromit
Genuinely think The Wrong Trousers is one of the funniest movies ever made. Something about the ridiculous events played ABSOLUTELY straight - the music is so dramatic and serious.
I think when Gromit first sees Feathers with the glove on his head, and his eyes go wide in realisation and the music is SO dramatic. God, it still makes me laugh 30 years after I first saw it. I remember laughing at it with my Dad, and now I laugh at it with my kids. Wonderful
The model train 'chase' is probably one of the best chase scenes in history too 😂
I really only remember the original wallace and Gromit and chicken run, but the Wallace and Gromit is always like a super fond memory that me and my dad liked. Great great.
Arthur Christmas is my favorite Christmas movie and I wish for it to be more recognized, to the point of being considered a holiday classic, just as Home Alone, Elf, a Christmas Story, etc.
Arthur Christmas so high up is extremely based IMO-
Not exactly where I would put it, but yeah its defiantly one of Aardmans best, even if its one of the two that isn't in their main medium
Not gonna lie, I actually got the chills when Arthur Christmas wasn't mentioned yet, and it was very high on the list. It's actually my all time favorite Aardman movie and a must watch when Christmas time comes around
despite being american, i have such a huge amount of nostalgia and love for aardman animation. my late mom was a huge fan of stop motion and claymation after growing up with the og rankin-bass specials and shows like gumby and davey and goliath so this lovely little studio easily found its way into our home in the 90s-00s. this is making me want to revisit everything on this list (minus the chicken run sequel; it ended with the first film to me) to see how they hold up and check out those i've never watched
I've never let being an American stop me from loving Aardman either.
I've always loved wallace and grommit and shawn the sheep ever since i was young, but I didn't realize how many Aardman movies I've watched throughout my childhood until now.
Arthur Christmas is my favorite Christmas movie and is just one of my favorites in general, not surprised it was number one
"they're not a terrible studio that makes terrible movies, though I would be up for doing a tier list of one of those one day"
DINGO PICTURES TIER LIST LET'S GOOOO
Man you need to go to the pleasure beach in Blackpool, they have a Wallace and Gromit ride and to be honest, it’s great
Wallace and Gromit is one of the pieces of media nearest and dearest to my heart. I also grew up on Creature Comforts, which is crazy underrated. as soon as i turned 18, i got a gromit tattoo on my forearm

18:24 "a mechanical scar that carries our thoughts"
Me thinks this might not have been subtitled manually
I only noticed there were subtitles at the end of the video, even though I was reading them the entire time, and I have NO IDEA how that even happened!
33:51 - That sound you just made is so funny. 🤣🤣
Did you use Ai generated subtitles? I’ve seen a few spelling mistakes here and there, like how you say “deaf” during the Shaun the sheep 2 part, and it translates to “death”
My ranking of all Aardman Animation feature films:
#9. Arthur Christmas
#8. Early Man
#7. Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget
#6. Chicken Run
#5. Farmageddon: A Shaun The Sheep Movie
#4. Shaun The Sheep Movie
#3. The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists/The Pirates! Band Of Misfits
#2. Flushed Away
#1. Wallace And Gromit: The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit
If anyone wants to know my further thoughts on any of these, feel free to politely and civilly ask.
Subtitling this video using your signature font was an absolutely genius move.
I was very much in awe of your own subtitles having several wrong words.
For example, you said Swords, in Victorias skirt, but the Subs said Thoughts.
I get the TH-cam subs getting things wrong, but your own is quite funny.
Now paying close attention for more.
“My God there where some cheeky moments in this film.” Love that
I used to love Arthur Christmas. I watched it back when my parents still had a vhs player
I absolutely love the music you selected for this video!

An Aardman Pikmin movie would be incredible. Its another one they could do non-verbal comedy in
Honestly, any time the holidays roll around, arthur christmas is a family favorite in my house. Sure, it's not rudolph or frosty, but even in its worst day, if it's on, the only reason anyone in my house wouldn't put it on is if something like the stop motion christmas movies, elf, or the tim Allen santa claus movies (Ie something that tops it on any christmas movie list)are on.
My Aardman Animation Movies Ranked, I Mean Every Aardman Movie Is The Best
1. The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit
2. Chicken Run
3. Shaun the Sheep Movie
4. Arthur Christmas
5. Flushed Away
6. Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget
7. The Pirates! Band of Misfits
8. Early Man
9. A Shaun the Sheep Movie Farmageddon
Ardman has a list of bangers and I wish more people would dabble in stop motion
I knew I wasn't the only one traumatized by Robo-dog.
i love aardman so so much. i have so many memories watching their movies. i watched curse of the wererabbit and very time i went to the chiropractor with my mom because it was the only good dvd they had. i was obsessed with flushed away and id watch all the dvd extras and make the slugs out of clay from one of the tutorials. id watch tons of creature comforts compilations with my dad. we had the original 3 shorts on vhs tapes and id watch them religiously. they’re just a huge part of my entire childhood.

Pirates In An Adventure With Scientists is in my top five favorite films in general
3:22 Ahh another Brit who doesn't understand that Americans named it soccer as a loving homage to them. Long story short, when Brits realized they needed to distinguish between soccer and rugby, they named soccer "association football" and rugby "rugby union football." Brits gave unofficial nicknames to both, with rugby union football as "rugger" and association football as "assoccer" with a hard c, which eventually was shortened to "soccer." American football is a derivative of rugby, and it was named "football" in honor of "rugby football." When soccer began getting popular in the US, they already had a football sport, so they named it soccer in honor of its nickname in Britain. And Brits for some reason never miss an opportunity to dunk on the US for it for some reason, like they aren't the ones who came up with it.
I get it, Arthur Christmas is one the most dramatically compelling stories in their filmography, it’s not my personal favorite, but I get it.
I mean I kinda liked Early Man, despite not even liking football (It's called Football in every other fricking country, I'm not calling it "Soccer"). Now, Arthur Christmas, on the other hand...
Good list, but you missed Stage Fright, which I think is another underrated masterpiece
Wallace and Gromit: the bite of ‘83
glad to hear your review of flushed away. it's at the top of my list for sure
I will always enjoying being jumpscared by Xenoblade Chronicles 2 music.
I was just about to declare that there is no such thing as a bad Aardman film, and then you spoke about Early Man, which I had apparently blocked from my memory it was so bad!
Totally agree with Arthur Christmas taking your top slot. It's an absolutely brilliant film and I'm a guy who doesn't even like Christmas 😂
"Roll Dolberg" AI generated subtitles detected...?
The thing with the Harry Potter Philosopher and Sorceror name situation is that it is the same way with the original book as well.
Flushed Away is the best Aardman movie.
When he said paper mario and pikkman it wrote paper mario and pokemon 8:49
Early Man and Dawn of the Nugget makes me very nervous for the new Wallace and Gromit film, I’m terrified that Aardman has lost their edge
I'm glad you ranked Flushed Away so high because I love it, but I still like Pirates In an Adventure with Scientists better.
Thank you for giving such love to Arthur Christmas. It's my favourite Christmas film second only to Muppets Christmas carol. I think your list is fascinating and I don't entirely disagree with you either I'd probably put wrong trousers at the top and give pirates Vs scientists a bump up the list a bit but all the points you make are obviously heart felt and I'm so glad you made this list it was great to see
Im so glad this video was made, I feel like Aardman is something tha is not talked about nearly enough in the video essay space. The artistry and the passion is just oozing out of every project
My ranking is pretty much the same, but I think my 3 are wererabbit, wrong trousers and chicken run

These guys are my childhood and as an adult when the second chicken run film came out I was so happy and experienced a lot of nostalgia. I love all of their films A LOT but being a pirate fan their film "The Pirates. Band of Misfits." has to be one of my favorite films. Flushed away is also up there for me.
I think part of why Dawn of the Nugget has more saturated colors than the original Chicken Run's dark and grim colors is because it might have to do with a specific form of propaganda. While the first film focused on the inherent dread of essentially being in a concentration camp, the second one seems to have a slight focus on how fascists try to frame their cruelty as a good thing. In this case, they also combine that with the meat industry's use of commercials to make it seem like the animals live carefree and cruelty free lives even when their irl practices are mostly inhuman. Granted, this point could have been made much better if only the inside of the factory/killing room floor was extremely colorful and oversaturated while the outside world was a bit more normal (it doesn't have to be as cold and dark as the original film as the chicken's situation isn't nearly as dire, but still).
how come u were born in the 2010s ####
It saddens me to see how much people dislike Early Man 😭 I personally find it pretty cool!! I kinda feel that the main idea of it is quite "out there" if u know what I mean, but that doesn't mean that it's terrible. Maybe it's just bc I love anything Aardman related but yeah 😅
Very harsh on Early Man. I loved it. Arthur Christmas? No lol. Good film still though. My list:
1. A Grand Day Out
2. The Wrong Trousers
3. A Close Shave
4. Curse of the Were Rabbit
5. Chicken Run
6. Early Man
7. Pirates!
8. Shaun the Sheep Movie
9. Chicken Run Dawn of the Nugget
10. Flushed Away
11. Creature Comforts
12. Matter of Loaf and Death
13. Arthur Christmas
14. Farmageddon
15. Robin Robin
Also, I love all of these films. I could easily have a different order come tomorrow.
I lowkey love that Arthur Christmas is your first choice. It's mine too and the Wallace movies were top til that movie came out.
I am sorry but Shaun the sheep is the best movie out of all of them, it has to most charm, funny and nostalgic characters and a scene which actually made me cry really hard as a kid while no words were spoken, 10/10 masterpiece
He is British and calls football, soccer
Finally someone thinks Arthur Christmas is the best one
Underrated movie.
I get why you put Curse of the Were-Rabbit below The Wrong Trousers; the ending of that movie is just a more cinematic version of how it ended.
The Shaun the Sheep Movie is an EXTREMELY underrated movie.
Flushed away is my favorite movie and has always been a favorite and even though i dont get some of the British jokes its still a masterpiece and my favorite movie
EARLY MAN JUST UNLOCKED A CHILDHOOD MEMORY OMG😭 I think I’m biased cuz I loved it
John 3:16-21.
I mostly agree with the ranking, I would just have numbers 1 and 2 the other way around! But Arthur Christmas is a must watch every year.
Hey, fun fact, my mum's cousin's daughter plays noona the alien in Farmageddon
One thing about the cast of Chicken Run 2,
At the very least, they brought back what’s her name as Mrs Tweedy, and she was still perfect!
The Shaun the Sheep movie is my favourite. I don’t know how to really describe why but the climax just gets me tearing up every time just seeing the love between the farmer and Shaun when he finally gains his memory back. I don’t know fully why but I absolutely tear up each time. The film is emotional hilarious and dare I say pure cinema.
In My Opinion even Aardman's Weakest Film/Short, is at a 6/10 and so Rewatchable!!!
I Grew Up with these and still have Nostalgia for All of them!!!
Wallace and Gromit, Chicken Run, and Flushed Away are my favourites.
To be fair, Early Man released the same weekend as Marvel's Black Panther. Any movie would've been doomed in that situation.
Also #1 was in competition with both The Muppets and The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part 1
I like Early Man and Samson more than Black Panther.
Always personally loved Early Man. I never really understood some of the criticism. Curse of the were - rabbit always my favourite though!
Someone needs to tie in all the aardman films like it's been done for pixar my take so far is this
wallace and gromit is set in 60s-70s, shaun the sheep's first appearance is close shave (c.1965) however the shaun the sheep movie is clearly set in the present day bcs of the cars' number plates so perhaps the shaun in the movie is a descendant of the shaun sheep that wallace raised. Shortly afterwards when shaun got too big to handle wallace gave shaun to his friend, the current farmer's father (perhaps also son of arnold hugh from stage fright) and he bred that sheep into the current flock
I learned tonight that Arthur Christmas was done by the same studio to give us Walus and Gromit. Well, the movie I liked even before finding out this.
