And then the ashbringer somehow ends in the krusty krab, specifically in the hands of patrick the star, purifying the land of bikini bottom and blessing him by the name of patrick the pure, what a beautiful story
there's not really much out there about the other 3 beyond what we know from the Dragonblight portfolios. Baron Rivendare we know was similar to Alexi Barov, a noble who embraced the Cult of the Damned before the scourging began, and whose son had become a Paladin and was attempting to destroy him after his father's unsuccessful attempt at a ritual to convert him into a Death Knight (which canonically eventually succeeded once he attempted to take out his father alone without the aid of the Holy Relic and became the new general of Stratholme's undead forces once Rivendare was promoted to Horseman of War). Mograine of course has 2 videos devoted to him.
this video, and the videos on similar characters, helped mould my personal values and what I find cool. These videos had a large impact on my life when I was 11. Thank you Nobbel87! Your story telling with that classic voice made these stories inspiring and lit a flame in my young heart. One of my favourite people on TH-cam.
Thanks for making such a fantastic video on the Ashbringer, Nobbel. I've been waiting for this one for a while. Darion's tale is one of my favorites of Warcraft and you always tell the stories so well. Keep it up man, can't wait for part 2.
Just ordered the Ashbringer graphic novel off of Amazon. Excited to read it. Definitely one of the best pieces of lore in Warcraft outside of Arthas' storyline and the War of the Ancients :)
One of your very best vids so far, Nobble. I've followed you for ages, both here and on Twitch (as Qailin). -This one is wonderfully told and shown, and I can't wait for part II :)
I remember getting this comic, along with the ones on varian, brom, and gosh I always forget her name. I picked them up around the time wrath came out and thought they were so cool. It's such a nostalgia rush to see you giving an explanation of them, and I even got to learn who crafted ashbringer. Thank you Nobbel, your lore series is one of the most interesting in all of TH-cam, please don't stop! :) also please do more scourge related ones if you find time, that's my favorite lore!
Don't forget to mention in the next part, tirion needs to charge it, To harness it's full power for about 5 hours, he has to plug it in for about 2 hours.
nobbel, i've been watching your videos for a long time. but i never really said thanks for em, whenever i need something to listen to while im playing or whatever i usually just turn on your vids. also, paladins represent. so thanks and keep up the great work
ICHBinCOOLERalsJeman He was fucked up person in Northrend though, he even said "damn the men, I'll get revenge no matter what" which was really selfish. You don't treat your people like that, like a spoiled child.
Abat a yes beeing unable to protect his people, seeing the anihilation of man kind wiithout beeing able to do shit against it, beeing even forced to kill his own people, sacrificing few for the sake of many. Wihtout a tutor or guide how can you not be sucumbed by your rage at this point? It just shows us again arthas is simply a human unable to launch whisps to destroy TFT or something, he is doing what he thinks best for his people and gets corupted. He is probably the most believeable character in all of warcraft
I feel as though the crystal that makes up the core of the Ashbringer is in fact the heart of the Naaru K'ara. In our timeline she basically just disappeared, but it makes sense that the Orc Necrolytes would try to use her darkened heart as a source of power, which is how it ended up with Mograine.
After reading all the magazines and reading all about the ashbringer, and just everything about Lordaeron.. I still enjoyed this. This story is just so powerful and good. Thanks!
I still remember in vanilla/bc when everyone was looking for the Ashbringer as if it was a hidden legendary weapon. It gave it such a mythic reputation, it was great even though we all knew we couldn't get it.
Thanks for making these videos man! I know this must tell a lot of time of reading the story and then making a decent video of it! I just started playing wow again and going back and listening to the story in stand of rushing to cap and raiding/arena can def make it far more interesting! :)
Dear lord...this has to be one of your best videos yet, Nobbel. Didn't know Magni forged the Ashbringer personally. If he ever comes out of his crystal form, it could have major impacts on the Dwarfen society, even the Alliance as a whole. Magni is nothing like Muradin or Brann - and he will make sure everyone gets that.
You are such a great storyteller. I want to thank you for these videos. They really make the Warcraft lore accessible to all and they these videos are told very well.
I'm not really a player of WoW, but I enjoyed listening to the story of the one blade capable of going toe-to-toe with the blade of the very Lich King. I love that classic fight of good vs evil, how everything is not set in stone, and how even in the darkest of times, light can still save its believers. Can't wait to check out Part 2.
I think you may have missed the part where Alexandros, not just his sword, was also referred to as "Ashbringer". It's just as important to note that Mograine could decimate the undead with or without his sword.
The story of the ashbringer is one of the greatest stories i have ever heard. It has so many themes, and so much nostalgia. i think that a materialistic object with a history which holds so much and so many is very powerful
MikoGot Yes. A beautiful What-if story that I always recommend people. It's a little powerplay-ish how the main character becomes the ashbringer himself, but damnit it was done so well and still holds up as one of the best machinimas of WoW as well that I can't insult it.
The Mograine family. They are my favorite in all Azeroth. I love so much, Lord Alexandros and his sons, Renault and Darion forever. And much respect for the mother of the two brothers.
Awesome video, and really one that I was wanting to see. Thx a lot for bringing this to us. Whenever I watch your videos, I often get that urge to go back to WoW (I stopped at the of cata) just to experiencie this might sotry once more.
I got real confused at the end of the video... By the sounds of it, there was 2 battles at Light's Hope? Because according to the DK starting zone, when you fight at Light's Hope Chapel, you fight alongside Darion Mograine with the Corrupted Ashbringer, and he never stabbed himself with it, he threw it to Tirion, abandoning the blade, which severed his soul, killing him, but saving Tirion from Arthas, which won over the battle. Was there always 1 battle, but how it plays out in-game is different from the novels? I'm so confused lol...
Thallanar Rabidtooth There were two battles. First there was the one lead by Kel'thuzad and Darion stabbed himself. The second battle was a few years later where Darion lead the assault and tossed the blade to Tirion.
Nice. The only thing I hate about your vids is having to wait for part twos :) Your Lore vids may have got Blizzard 2 or 3 more months of subscriptions. I find myself going bcak through old content all the time now. Good bloody job Sir!
i would really love if you made a video telling the origins and the story of the Scarlet Crusade and its main characters, it's pretty decent and they have been in the game since classic wow. We have faced off against them in numerous engagements, they have some of the most interesting characters and telling their story about how a righteous cause turned them into the corrupt organization they are today (or whats left of them) would be pretty darn cool.
Really enjoyed the version u told to Brutall earlier, when there were thousands and millions of undead fighting at stratholme and brutall wont believe that they could fit all over azeroth which u argued that they would be some giant mass of bodies crouching over each other and so on... was really fun :) Nice vid anyway, cant wait to see p2.
When I heard tales of a grand keeper of knowledge, a loremaster if you will. One who knew all the knowledge contained in all the books on all the shelves in all the libraries on Azeroth I imagined an orator of stupendous power and magnanimous heart. You did not disappoint.
hey Nobbel, I am a big fan! - I dont mind what kind of Lore you doing but please could you release more then once a week a lore? I listen to them every day! keep it up greetz from GER
There is a machinima that shows the story of the war between the orc and humans and the fall of Mograine called "Story of Ashbringer (World of Warcraft)". This is part of a greater machinima called "Tales of the past". One of the best classic WOW machinima ever made. If you are a fan of lore and machinima, watch this.
If you're looking for an awesome interpretation of this you should watch the "Tales of the Past" movies! Great vid Nobbel, i've been waiting for this :D
It's speculated that the crystal that was purified and used to make Ashbringer is the "remains" of K'ara (the Naaru that is the Dark Star that is purified in SMV in Warlords of Draenor). In our timeline, Gul'dan raised a fel volcano in SMV, and that likely destroyed the Dark Star (K'ara). An orc picked up the crystal since it was a source of void magic, and started using it.
8:14 *I .. was... puuure... oooooonceeee* This voice acting hit me so hard. Gj blizzard and the guy behind it
And then the ashbringer somehow ends in the krusty krab, specifically in the hands of patrick the star, purifying the land of bikini bottom and blessing him by the name of patrick the pure, what a beautiful story
Vaporizing the seas around bikini bottom causing mass extinction.
The light called to him
Unironically better storytelling than Blizzard for about the past decade (Legion notwithstanding).
Christian that's "Patrick that's the Ashbringer".
Who got recommended this after watching patrick thats the ash bringer?
Me
nope, but i did search for it as i dont play wow
same here
Patrick that's the *Ashbringer*
Yes
You should do a lore video on the four horsemen

"I...was...once...called...Ashbringer."
Assbringer*
8:52 "Cloud is that you!? How and when did you get into Warcraft?"
"Who do you love?"
"I love *you* Darion!"
*undead grab the baby Darion*
"NO! You can't have him! Not Darion!"
"Not my son!"
Thanks for making such a fantastic video on the Ashbringer, Nobbel. I've been waiting for this one for a while. Darion's tale is one of my favorites of Warcraft and you always tell the stories so well. Keep it up man, can't wait for part 2.

Waited SO long for this episode, absolutely love stories of old alliance heroes. Thanks Nobbel!!
I remember getting this comic, along with the ones on varian, brom, and gosh I always forget her name. I picked them up around the time wrath came out and thought they were so cool. As a guy who slowly transforming from a once kind, full of joy person into a cinical alcholic asshole, the I... was..... pure..... once hit me hard.
You get better and better with every video, mate. Keep the good work up. Cheers.
I waited so long for this story! Thank you, Nobbel! It's one of my favorites!
I love the way you tell stories. Your videos are so entertaining and compelling. Thank you. :)
I enjoy how you put together all the information & tell the lore. Thanks
Don't forget to mention in the next part, tirion needs to charge it, To harness it's full power for about 5 hours, he has to plug it in for about 2 hours.
Epic video man! Keep them coming!
You are a very good story teller, Nobbel. I enjoy your videos a lot!
YAIIIIIIIIIIIII YAAIII"Screams in a high pitch pussy voice" FINALY I WAS waiting for this!
I really like your videos Nobbel87! They make the story of Warcraft clear to me. Thanks! keep up the good work!
nobbel, i've been watching your videos for a long time. but i never really said thanks for em, whenever i need something to listen to while im playing or whatever i usually just turn on your vids. also, paladins represent. so thanks and keep up the great work
One of your best videos so far. Great job.
#Arthasdidnothingwrong
ICHBinCOOLERalsJeman Arthas is life.
ICHBinCOOLERalsJeman Arthas was just trying to give people eternal life...
ICHBinCOOLERalsJeman Arthas is a scrub.
ICHBinCOOLERalsJeman He was fucked up person in Northrend though, he even said "damn the men, I'll get revenge no matter what" which was really selfish. You don't treat your people like that, like a spoiled child.

This was wonderful, Nobbel - thank you.
My most favorite piece of lore in ALL of WoW.
The Ashbringer.
Thanks, Nobbel.
Zomg Nobbel I love you! I have dreamed of this episode for like a year or more! :D
Keep up doing lore videos! I really enjoy them. Your work is beyond spendid!!
3:34 Did Sonic just run by?
XD
The Wolf with the Dragon What the hell was that!?
The Wolf with the Dragon Had to stop and take a look.... looked like a bird (terrain detail of WC3 I guess)
The Wolf with the Dragon Just bats had to slow it down lol
Couldn't be sonic their was no sonic boom
it's like watching tales of the past 3 but with more lore. SO GOOD
After reading all the magazines and reading all about the ashbringer, and just everything about Lordaeron.. I still enjoyed this. This story is just so powerful and good. Thanks!
Thank you Nobbel! Can't wait for the second part !
I still remember in vanilla/bc when everyone was looking for the Ashbringer as if it was a hidden legendary weapon. It gave it such a mythic reputation, it was great even though we all knew we couldn't get it.
Using the corrupted Ashbringer as an undead on Classic WoW now is wild. Its so good. And looks sick with an Unholy Weapon enchant
"The Sword of a Thousand Truths" 😂
"now who do you love?"
"no one"...
this gives me chills, even after years
FINNALY, LORE OF MY FAVOURITE WEAPON IN WHOLE WARCRAFT... thanks Nobbel :D
Anyone else notice how he speaks in 10-syllable sentences to get the best dramatic lore effect
Cool upload m8, i've been wanting an Ashbringer video soo long.
I have been waiting for this video for so long can't wait to see part 2
Thanks for making these videos man! I know this must tell a lot of time of reading the story and then making a decent video of it! I just started playing wow again and going back and listening to the story in stand of rushing to cap and raiding/arena can def make it far more interesting! :)

Dear lord...this has to be one of your best videos yet, Nobbel. Didn't know Magni forged the Ashbringer personally.

yet another awesome lore video, keep them coming nobbel :D

The sword was named after him, not vice versa like the video implys. Regardless dudes a good story teller.
thanks for uploading yet another video
I waited for so long for this video, i never knew about the ashbringer's origin until now. Awesome.
The story of the ashbringer is one of the greatest stories i have ever heard. It has so many themes, and so much nostalgia. i think that a materialistic object with a history which holds so much and so many is very powerful
FINALLY, I've waited for this video sense I subbed to you thank you nobbel =D
Yeeeesssss! Can't wait for part 2. Love this story
Tales of the Past III!
MikoGot Yes. A beautiful What-if story that I always recommend people.

SirMalorak True. Epic movie.
MikoGot These are the Duranin.

The Mograine family. They are my favorite in all Azeroth. I love so much, Lord Alexandros and his sons, Renault and Darion forever. And much respect for the mother of the two brothers.

Awesome as always ;) keep up the good work
FINALLY! I'VE WAITED SO LONG
14:15 The most epic moment in whole wow. I played DK starter campaign over and over and over again, just so I can be there for this moment.
That was awesome, can't wait for the second part.
I got real confused at the end of the video... By the sounds of it, there was 2 battles at Light's Hope? Nobbel87 Ah, thanks Nobbel! Definitely cleared things up.
Thallanar Rabidtooth I have to agree, the showing of the DK event really threw my mind off the story being told. :/
Nobbel87 Ah , now i see things in a different light , but , Darion , during the first battle he fought for the light with the corrupted ashbringer ?
Kukywuky Correct. Sorry for the confusion ^_^
Awesome Nobbel!!! love it... now...I want the complete Story of Arthas and all the details in his story man!!! plssss
omg i want part 2 now :) good job keep it up
1:45 that is a really accurate picture of me being born
You have a really beautiful voice man :O i just listen to you and am calmed
*Darion watches the blade intently*
Darion: "An act of love..."

I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS SO MUCH GOD DAMN IT
Awsome job Nobbel !
Talk about epic. The Cinematic was realy awsome!
I havent gone back to check, but i could have sworn you had already made a video for this story? Either way, i love this shit lololol

SIender Man I do :(
+SIender Mani sure as hell do because now i can never fucking get my corrupted ashbringer transmog

Don't get me wrong, this is awesome and I love listening to you

People finding this after shadowlands please stand up lmao
No this is Patrick

If you're looking for an awesome interpretation of this you should watch the "Tales of the Past" movies! Great vid Nobbel, i've been waiting for this :D
Trophyon That's how I learned all the lore about the Ashbringer, it's fucking awesome!
Trophyon YES!! I still remember watching this movie I had all three parts at one point. Good times.
ssjwes Oh same here, i've got all three original movies on my HDD :)
Yesssss - more lore videos!
There's a slight flaw in your recount of the lore. It wasn't an orc warlock who held the orb, it was a necrolyte.
You're great. Like seriously!
The BEST looking sword ever ... Tnx for this video!
