Owned a 750 Sei for several years. Mechanically reliable, always chased electrical gremlins, being an electronics technician was handy. I really don’t think the black exhaust system is original, all of them were delivered with chrome six shooter exhaust to the best of my knowledge. I had an aftermarket Marving 6 into 1 pipe, and let me tell you, the combination of the intake sucking big air at wide open throttle position and that magical exhaust note was pure eargasm ecstasy. It wasn’t as quick as the Japanese 500s, and the handling wasn’t superb, but it was a euphoric experience every time I rode it around town or across the state. It always drew attention and comments, and the feeling of riding the “Ferrari” of motorcycles was something that I’ll always remember. I can still remember washing and waxing it and just sitting back never tiring of looking at the beautiful artistry. It’s said that Benelli salesmen would prove how smooth the engine performed in the showroom by having the bike idling on it’s center stand, standing a lit cigarette on the tank, revving it to redline and watch the cigarette remain standing as it settled back into it’s idle.

The black exhaust system looks like the original, it has just been re-painted black, maybe to cover up some dents or scratches.
I had a red 1977 BENELLI 750 SEI in 2000, I put about 4-5K on it and then sold it.
It was fun driving up to Squamish from Vancouver. It's now in a Honda dealer's museum.
I read somewhere that, there is a design flaw in the transmission on those.
My bike's clutch used to slip under hard acceleration, and the front master cylinder needed rebuilding.
Some Italian bike parts from the same era will fit the Benelli. ie Moto Guzzi
My transmission was becoming hard to shift, but the dealer I sold it to told me
that I had put the oil filter spring on the wrong side of the filter. lol
There is a dealer in Florida that sells Benelli parts.
Most 500 four Honda parts are not compatible. I now have an 80 CBX.
      (pls see my CBX video)

I have a 76 series 1 with the 280mm front discs, later models had 300mm discs, it is fitted with 6 into 2 trumpets with wind out baffles, I recall taking mine to our local bike shop for some work, my mother was following me down to bring me home, her comment to me as i got in the car, apart from how quickly i disappeared view, was "I don't normally like nousy bikes but that sounds incredible" I'll never forget that.

And that sound… it’s something magical.

In Decatur GA there was a Benelli dealer near my home back the the late (1970’s) At one time I saw the six cylinder for sale New on the showroom floor. Also at Road Atlanta racetrack I saw only one being ridden by a very proud and happy owner. Love the bike.

I had one as my daily for a few years , it had a one off 6into 2 exh and made a great noise , car drivers on the way to work would move over when I came up behind them to let me enjoy the curves , even some of the better cops would want to race me , I miss that bike

Had one of these back in '83; 'YUC794T' in the U.K. Lovely bike to ride, sounded beautiful and everywhere I went people just stared as I went past which I loved as a youngster... Only one other in Norfolk at the time ridden by a pretty ginger girl biker; I had a lot of respect for her as this thing wasn't light fully tanked up. I did have a few electrical issues with it; the rectifier went 'bang' one day. The exhausts rotted out too so had to replace those which wasn't cheap, even with after market jobbies. Still, great memories here! Thanks for posting.

The Busso exhaust system was after market. When new they had a chrome plated Silentium 6 into 6 system. I believe that a lot of Honda engine parts from the CB500 will fit on the Benelli.

From research l think the Busso is a well regarded replacement exhaust set. The Sei (pronounced 'say') was not much faster at the top end than its competition due to smallish 24mm twin choke carbs/intake system and conservative cam profile. BUT, in most respects which mattered, handling, stopping, and panache by the bucket load, it was superior to the Jap 750s. It did cost quite a lot more though. Gearbox was uprated in 1975 because the original was based on 500 and did not take abuse well. Usual ltalian electrical issues with switchgear (if neglected).

Read that under an agreement with Honda, the motor is based off the CB500 four (125cc per cylinder was thought to be ideal) engine - Benelli added two cylinders.

Cool bikes in the day , today Wonderful. The old motorcycles had a comfortable ride . Most anyway. I’m presently waiting for my bike to be painted. A 1980 Honda 900 cb , 10 speed. Bought it from a body shop where it had been sitting since 1986 ! My Son has gone through everything checking , rebuilding, tuning ect but has me a Wonderful cruiser put together. He fixed it up all winter. Soon I’ll be riding with him and the Rest of the Go-Fast , Motorcycle Club. We all ride, my 3 year old grandson is riding a Honda 50xr . I taught all my children to ride when they were little. My Son won the fair 50cc at five years old hear and the County over. Do everyone can ride and I couldn’t afford a baseball team but ended up with my own Motorcycle Club , all family members ! Eight of us ride together, plus cousins, yep our own family Motorcycle Club ! Teaching all my family to ride ended up being the best thing to make Everyone Smile ! Me in my sixties, don’t do wheelies or drag race anymore but I do ride ! It has always relaxed me. Freedom, when I ride it relaxes me. No telling how much trouble riding kept me out of. I think everyone should know how to ride and how to handle and shoot a gun ! Remember your a lot less likely to accidentally shoot yourselve or someone else if you can handle a gun and understand safety first. It’s the uneducated idiots that ruins it all for everyone. Pray that G D will send a Miracle to save us. Pray 🙏🇺🇸

@@crankybear1236 looking closely at the Benelli 6 engines the Honda is different you are right they did look at the Honda engine when they made this bike some components on the engine very similar.... I think it was more than just adding to it than adding two cylinders to a Honda design
