So I'm not the only one still holding onto the S20 Ultra huh. I'm honestly really looking forward to the s22 ultra. I didn't really see a need to upgrade last year, but this one looks to be the one that's going to force me to.
Honestly I am a big fan of the curved display. To me, it looks more luxurious than the traditional flat screen. I mean it's really up to personal preference.
I agree, S pen added to S line was a great move! I actually switched to the note just for the pen, for photo editing mostly, so super happy to go back to galaxy and have it all 🙌 SO FUNNY, until you put the 2022 all big on the screen, it had never dawned on me either that the models went with the years 🤣🤣 great review, thank you!
I think the S10 5g was the best Galaxy phone, had a 3.5 mm jack, had expandable storage, had WQHD+ Display had up to 1 TB storage, seeing the refresh rate I don't think it should make a huge difference, my S10 5g is still with me due to this reason.

Just ordered the S22 in green. Excited to use a smaller phone with very little compromise. Been using giant phones for years and I'm really excited for a smaller phone
@@cesaresquer9338 yeah exactly, I just mean upgrading to a future galaxy line up like the s24 or whatever where there actually ends up being a difference in some sort of way
The s pen is not wanted until you have it, and then you're like "why would I go back?" All the the features and short cuts help the phone feel better, and the fact that you don't have to take off your gloves when in the cold for a precise interaction. That's one of the biggest wins in my opinion.
@@SlayersTheName I mean I have used an s-pen before for a good amount of time and while it can be helpful, I still don't use it more than my fingers and would only use it for things when I draw but I barely draw so I mean I think it just depends for everyone
I´m having a hard time pushing the buy-button when I already have a Note 9... It´s kinda the same but instead of super-camera i´ve got SD-card and IRIS-security instead ^^
The new S22 lineup has a good design and comes with a modest leap in performance, for camera and screen. But what we should rather note is that the new snapdragon or Exynos chipset that powers the phone has barely improved in performance even when compared to nearly two years old SD865. Why? Because the chipset is manufactured with an inferior Samsung process, that makes clocking the chip to it's full potential very difficult to achieve within the available thermal envelope of a smartphone. I was a Note 20 ultra user, bought the phone on preorder and used it for more than a year. Now I changed to OnePlus 8T (sold Note 20 ultra for good money) and am happy to keep using this phone till 2023, when the new tsmc 3nm based snapdragon chipsets power flagship androids. Android users are paying for the lack of technical progress by Samsung in their semiconductor manufacturing business.
Hey Jud, at 9:38 you said that the 40 MP front-facing camera is on the entire lineup, which is an upgrade from the S21 and S21+, but the 40 MP selfie camera is only available for the S22 Ultra model, the S22 and S22+ get 10 MP front-facing cameras. Just a quick correction there, might want to clarify it in the description or as a pinned comment.
I have never been a fan of the boxy design of the Note and i hate they went back to the more rounded screen edges. They were at least made a bit less round on the 21 Ultra.
I may be the only guy who loves the ultra design over the regular s22 which I still think looks very good! I hate the camera bump. Don't like the curved screen, but there's no option. Love the good old boxy screen. Obviously love the s pen.
Never opted for the note and I think that will keep me away from the 22 ultra. I'm completely in love with my 21 ultra and was looking forward to upgrading. Now, I don't know...🤦🏾♂️
That ultra is my S-Tier phone. I have long considered the note, but skipped it because the Galaxy standard series always seemed ahead in tech. This gives me everything I want. Finally a good reason to upgrade from my S9+. I'm buying right now.
Upgraded from the S9 to the S22. Major camera improvement. I'm like a big kid. Haha. The speaker is also bomb although the bass etc could be better. We could use better quality and innovations. The speaker is good, don't get me wrong but having tested some other 2022 flagship phones I feel like Samsung was not the winner with speakers. This being said I feel like innovations outside the camera is just meh. The S22 isn't worlds faster either. It is way too similar speed wise and the battery of the S22 is subpar. I was super impressed with how fast the phone charges but the battery could be a little better.. BUT if it wasn't for the camera for 2022 I would have passed hard. STILL $800. I could just soon use my DSLR camera and get the best photos but thanks to a shoulder injury I struggle lugging my camera around. I think all the phones now a days are over priced to be honest. Definitely not worth getting a new phone every year. Maybe every 3-6 years and looking for good trade in offers. FIY you can switch to Boost mobile and get the S22 for $499. I feel that's a better deal. Samsung is making so much $$$ from consumers. Often times people have to pay full price and make payments so they are unable to take advantage of good offers.
I have been waiting for s22 for a long time. However, I am really hesitating now because of the 8 Gen1 soc...It seems this chip does not perform well on devices that have been released so far. The heat is a serious problem. To catch up with performance of Apple chips, they ignored the power consumption. Hope we can have better chips for Android devices.
Im looking to switch back to android since my iphone 11 start giving me a headache and looking towards the s22 and btw the exynos chip witch is for UK and Europe doesnt have that heat problems and since i dont game on phone wont be a problem for me so if you are not a big gamer try to look for s22 with exynos chipset
I have the S22 with a snapdragon chip, honestly I haven't experienced any problems with the heat except for one time I tried Genshin Impact, but so far it's the only time I've had any problem with. Power consumption on the other hand IS a problem, my last phone had a 4k mAh battery and I do notice this phone drains so fast in comparison, I have to charge it every night, otherwise the battery won't last as much the next day and I end up charging it more times or worrying the battery will die.
Hey! Could you split your video into mini chapters? Would really help to get the keycontent if viewers are looking for your take on a specific feature.
What's the ya guys not digging the more minimalist cameras?? I'm just surprised as the last few iterations of camera hubs/bumps look atrocious, uneven, and heavy
I feel like im the oy one who likes the look of the ultra more, it just feels cleaner. I love the sharp corners, and I also like the curved edge of the screen, I realize that I am probably in the minority, but it looks so good
We literally all just want to see a completely edge to edge display without a curve. Why can’t anyone do that? Like NO black bezel AT ALL. The bottom half can turn off the pixels and touch functionality with a fo-bezel around the edges when doing anything other than consuming media. Like when you turn the phone to watch a full screen video it can go away. These companies add new specs like OLED and do absolutely nothing with it.
That'll probably come when they eliminate the hole punch camera. Like 2025 or so. But for now, it's like 91% screen to body ratio, which is really good. Barely feels like any bezels are there.
While the audio seems too much Peaking this time around.. I do have a question ⁉️ is that a charger that works with the newer Samsung Galaxy watch? My old charger no longer works and I have to use the Samsung charger??
I am leaning towards the s22+. I've had 3 different note phones and currently have the note 10+ but I never use my s pen. I mainly like the fact the ultra has the bigger battery. The camera on the s22+ will be a massive upgrade from what I currently have.
I had a note once too and never used the pen, but the camera quality from the s22+ to the ultra is significantly better. I'm sold on the ultra I believe.
@@adnmac8569 it isn't though. The megapixel number isn't major. The new sensors in the cameras got all upgraded through all the s22 series. A lot of youtubers are actually recommending the s22+ over the ultra as a better deal for the price
I have the note 20 ultra which I brought last year and it was my first note. I do love the phone but not really into the size so now I'm thinking of getting the S22 plus just like your thoughts
I agree, I don't really care for the curved screen on the Ultra models. Now the S22 Plus, I love that design. I don't understand why Samsung just didn't go with the design of the regular S22 models for the Ultra, instead of the Note 20 Ultra design. In my opinion, that was an asinine move on their part. Or they could have at least stick with the S21 Ultra design and integrate the S Pen inside the phone. I guess that was so hard to do.... (sarcasm)
Also with the year matching the model, have you noticed it only happens with the S phones? Like, last year we had A32, A52, A72 but it was the S21, it looks like "The S series phone is the last model they release in the series" so now that the "2" series is finished with the S22 the "3" series can start and then finish with the S23 again 🤔
The fact that the S22 Ultra not being a fan favorite in some (curved screened circles) should not be a big deal for those who in time will be trading their phone up for the next new model release in a year or less.
Sound not good. Im currently using a OP 7 Pro and I am sick of it. Android 11 sucks, some apps crash, no security patch sinche last big update. Suffered a hard freeze situation with a following reset in secure mode. What should i do? I really like the S22 +
I was looking forward to upgrading my base model s21 to the s22 ultra, but I don't care for a stylus. Is the camera a big upgrade from s22 to s22 ultra?
I preordered mine, yes, the green one. I didn't know that the Samsung site has a sky blue as well. And adding to your 2's , released in February, that's a another 2, but thank God they didn't wait until the 22nd.
Only thing pushing me into Ultra territory is storage. With lack of an SD card, 256gb isn't enough storage for me (or it won't be for long enough). I tend to keep a phone for about 4 years, and between apps and media I'm currently using up 189GB on my S9+. Those numbers are going to go up as apps get more intensive, simple fact.
Please test the GPS accuracy when you do the full review. When I got the Galaxy S20+, none of the reviews mentioned the terrible GPS accuracy of the Snapdragon 865 because no one tests that. Had I known, I would have gotten something else. My 2 year contract is up this year, and I'll be thinking about the S22+. If the GPS accuracy is improved, it would be worth upgrading, but if it isn't, I would rather keep my S20+ with its SD card.
Excellent video, thx! I have a Note20 5g Ultra. Is it worth jumping to S22 Ultra? Also, did Samsung remove the expandable memory slot? I think I'm in denial 🥺
Went with the S22 Ultra but I definitely agree that the s22 has the best design. Chose the Ultra because of the specs and the fact that iv'e been rocking the s8 for 4 years now lol so it'll be a huge upgrade for me. Cannot wait to receive my phone!
I dont know about you but looking at the back of the ip13 and the s22 ultra, youre telling me that the camera pumb of the iphone is better? I do not think anu bump would look good with that many lenses. Samsung was right to keep it simple. However, it works for the s22 and s22+ since there are 3 lenses and they are in a straight line.
*Idk why they didn't make the Ultra flat like the other 2, and as wide...like why did they curve the screen? It looks just like a Note10+ just with a different camera setup*

So I'm not the only one still holding onto the S20 Ultra huh. I'm honestly really looking forward to the s22 ultra. I didn't really see a need to upgrade last year, but this one looks to be the one that's going to force me to.
Display is almost like ultrawide 1440p. I don't know where you got 4K from.
Even recording is 4K at 60fps or 8K at 24fps.
@Robert Burnette Samsung have a new promotion, they're giving you a 850 trade in value for your Note 20 Ultra. That's the best deal I've seen so far.
I was drawn to the flat screen of the s22+, and I'm in love with the pink gold. Already put my pre order in, now I just have to wait 😊
Honestly I am a big fan of the curved display. To me, it looks more luxurious than the traditional flat screen. I mean it's really up to personal preference.
exactly. it makes the phone stand out from the rest
I love the look of the Ultra, cant wait to get mine
Same
Mine says it's expected to ship by 4/20
I agree, S pen added to S line was a great move!
I agree 👍🏼 I also really liked the design and color, and camera features of the S20 :( the S21 was so pointless...
agreed but s10 hurts with 60hz refresh rate/. 120 is so much nicer imo . ill prob be upgrading to s22!!
with the headphone jack gone you can just buy an adapter? sound quality would be the same?
@@Roadrunnerz45 Nobody wants to have to use an adapter, more people want to be able to charge at the same time.
9:40 On the Samsung website says about the front camera:
Ultra: 40MP | Plus and S22: 10MP

Really like the s22 ultra. Reminds me of my note 9
Just ordered the S22 in green. Excited to use a smaller phone with very little compromise. Been using giant phones for years and I'm really excited for a smaller phone
3700 milliamp on a Samsung is so weak tho. Like 5-7 hours like the 12 mini
@@DropOfHuman i have a zflip 3 lol I'm use to bad battery life
@@thelameleo6508 its even smaller battery on a screen that fully light up the large display with every notificstion
@@DropOfHuman yeah basically. I'm most of the time close to a charger so it's not as big of a deal to me personally
How heavy is you use, I'm thinking about getting the regular 22 or 23 when it's out, I kinda want a smaller phone
I am ready to see if they fixed the uploading issue with like IG and Snapchat.
I have the s21 Ultra and I just feel like I never really had the need for an s-pen but ig it would be nice to have if I upgraded in the future
I have the 21 ultra too. I’m not upgrading to the 22u because everything seems the same besides the pen.
@@cesaresquer9338 yeah exactly, I just mean upgrading to a future galaxy line up like the s24 or whatever where there actually ends up being a difference in some sort of way
same
The s pen is not wanted until you have it, and then you're like "why would I go back?" All the the features and short cuts help the phone feel better, and the fact that you don't have to take off your gloves when in the cold for a precise interaction. That's one of the biggest wins in my opinion.
@@SlayersTheName I mean I have used an s-pen before for a good amount of time and while it can be helpful, I still don't use it more than my fingers and would only use it for things when I draw but I barely draw so I mean I think it just depends for everyone
Is there a difference between S21 and S22?
Yeah I’m over the curved displays, it’s not a premium feature anymore it’s just annoying
I´m having a hard time pushing the buy-button when I already have a Note 9... It´s kinda the same but instead of super-camera i´ve got SD-card and IRIS-security instead ^^
Green is my favorite color- that matted and muted Forrest green looks sooooo nice.
Always love your videos! I have the Note 9 and I can honestly say I got my money's worth! Is now the time to upgrade?
Yes
Got my S22 Plus ordered can't wait to get it. IT will be a big upgrade for me upgrading from the Galaxy S10 Plus
This is everything I've been waiting for, a green Note. It's a must have!!!
I prefer the flat display aswell. Great review again.
I love both the ultra and 22 design but that green 22 design is so amazing I like that direction I square design
how is the snapchat quality!?
Is S25 available already in the market hope you will answer my question?
What is the watch stand you're using for your galaxy watch?
I thought it had been discovered Samsung isn’t using an LPTO display. So how are they handling the variable refresh rate?
the camera bump on the s21 was good as well, it was blended into the side keys
Want a new samsung... biggest screen.. don't need the pen what should I get ? S22+ or a z flip 4 ?
Your videos have a different personality from other tech reviewers. So it's a no brainer to watch your video as well
I feel like im the oy one who likes the look of the ultra more, it just feels cleaner. I love the sharp corners, and I also like the curved edge of the screen, I realize that I am probably in the minority, but it looks so good
Great in-depth video of some cool looking smartphones for Samsung, the new ones of course 🤪😉😄🤙🏼
I love the burgundy red type color, I'm currently starting work so I can save up for the 22 ultra
Shall i upgrade from note 9 to s22 ultra ?? Any suggestions would be really helpful 🙂
Currently got S20 (2 years old), but I'm thinking about the S22 or S20 Ultra, but Idk if it's worth it 😅 What do you think?
I am leaning towards the s22+. I've had 3 different note phones and currently have the note 10+ but I never use my s pen. I mainly like the fact the ultra has the bigger battery. The camera on the s22+ will be a massive upgrade from what I currently have.
I had a note once too and never used the pen, but the camera quality from the s22+ to the ultra is significantly better. I'm sold on the ultra I believe.
@@adnmac8569 it's mostly the same from all the reviews. The zoom is the biggest difference. Hard to justify $200 for zoom
@@ranran2218 the rear camera resolution is 10MP on the s22 and 108MP on the ultra. That's pretty significant in my opinion.
@@adnmac8569 it isn't though. The megapixel number isn't major. The new sensors in the cameras got all upgraded through all the s22 series. A lot of youtubers are actually recommending the s22+ over the ultra as a better deal for the price
@@ranran2218 thanks for the heads up. I will head back to the drawing board before making my final decision.
Your watch stand. Is that a wirless charger? If yes, where can I get it?
I have the note 20 ultra which I brought last year and it was my first note. I do love the phone but not really into the size so now I'm thinking of getting the S22 plus just like your thoughts
I have the note 20 ultra as well never use the pen and hate the curved screen. Did you end up switching?
It's the fact that I got the notification at the same time the Samsung Unpacked event started 🤣 I love it!
I like you all posted at the same time
The fact that the S22 Ultra not being a fan favorite in some (curved screened circles) should not be a big deal for those who in time will be trading their phone up for the next new model release in a year or less.
It's your average consumer, consuming the not-so-average stuff lol. Another great video man, clean as always.
The contrast and depth on the new 22 ultra is better then the last few Samsung imo which also makes colors better lol
Love the Raiser in the background.
That s22+ is beautiful! I wish the ultra looked the Same! 😢
I preordered mine, yes, the green one. I didn't know that the Samsung site has a sky blue as well. And adding to your 2's , released in February, that's a another 2, but thank God they didn't wait until the 22nd.
I'm getting the Samsung exclusive cream colour... It looks gorgeous.
Nice watch stand…where you get it from?
This was a really solid overview. Just what i was looking for.
I think this is needed. To know if it really matters to buy a costlier phone.
Oh shit : ) Used Fold 3 or S22 Ultra?
The notification stating the mic and camera are being used is an android 12 feature, not a samsung one :)
The combination of Sony Xperia series design and Samsung A32 . camera module
I have the S21 ultra and can't wait to trade in for S22 Ultra...reminds me of my Note20
Does all the s22 models come with Google messages by default and no samsung messages app?
Excellent video, thx! I have a Note20 5g Ultra. Is it worth jumping to S22 Ultra? Also, did Samsung remove the expandable memory slot? I think I'm in denial 🥺
yeah unfortunately
my comments on the s-pen ,well its better to have it and not need it than not have it at all 👌
Went with the S22 Ultra but I definitely agree that the s22 has the best design.
They should improve regular light filming, because dang, the S21 Ultra films terrible 4k/60!
Isn't the 8cx Gen 1 a chip for Chromebooks?
i have a ARMADILLOTEK
Galaxy S22 Ultra Case - V Series , what is the best Camera Lens Protector
& a uv screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra ?
the sky blue is the one for me imo. now i just need to wait so the price can drop significantly
*Idk why they didn't make the Ultra flat like the other 2, and as wide...like why did they curve the screen? It looks just like a Note10+ just with a different camera setup*
