I'm guessing you preordered the N20 Ultra when it came out to get the earbuds, right? Because I'm pretty sure it didn't come with earphones in the box. The Note 10 was the last to do so.
the charger on amazon for the S22 cost all of $35 bucks. the Ear Buds I got for free with my Note 20 Ultra are long traded in....along with the Note 20. They give you a $250 credit ...so one could get all of those "free" things w/ the S22 as well. I used mine for the Freestyle. And I have NEVER used the SD card slot on my Notes.
THIS is the video I've been waiting for as a Note 20 Ultra user! I think I'm going to stick with my Note 20 Ultra, just because it still works great and has expandable memory. Aside from the camera upgrades, it doesn't seem as though there is significantly noticeable difference in everyday performance, nor can you see a major difference in S-Pen performance (as stated in the video). If I upgrade, I'd have to give up my magnificent Note 20 Ultra and STILL have to pay about $1k (after taxes) for the 1 terabyte version. That $1k could go to a new laptop (Asus Z13), the Samsung Freestyle projector, or a new VR headset. Thanks for helping me make my decision!
Love our Note 20 Ultras but Samsung is giving the wife and I $800 each for trade towards an S22 Ultra along with another $250 to spend on accessories I paid $462 each for the 512GB version and got a Galaxy Watch 4 and a case for free as well. It was a no brainer for me. The wife picked Galaxy Buds Pros and like 3 cases for herself lol I used to care about MicroSD storage but the on board storage is lightyears faster than the read and write speeds of even the fastest microSD card it becomes a moot point to me, plus I never even remove my card anyway. Love that the S22 Ultra can do 120hz at quad HD instead of forcing 1080p like my Note20 Ultra and the camera upgrade is very welcome too.
I had the Note 20 Ultra (already sold it when I picked up the Pixel 6 Pro) and have the Note 22 on order... I have NEVER used the SD card on any Note I've owned... That aside, the whole POINT of Note series is that they keep the same look/shape with the latest Snapdragon upgrade and upgraded cameras. Side note, used the $250 samsung website credit towards a Freestyle. It gets here just after the phone.
I've been using a Op7 pro 256gb for 2+ years and I'm a power user (rooted) and I'm only at 100GB Used out of 244GB, never thought of using an SD card especially when its slower than the UFS storage...
@Dobbies Revenge bruh, my phone is my work tool and I have games, videos, photo editing software I just don't dump everything in it, I also download FLAC songs but not every one of them, I still use YT music and Spotify / Tidal I have/had a few TV shows and movies downloaded for the train rides I delete stuff and manage my storage well, just like my NAS and PC
It was a big jump for me from the Note 3 (white) to Note 5 (gold) and eventually to my Note 20 Ultra. Got the mystic bronze color, too, which was the big factor in finally upgrading. It's got 512 GB storage and still expandable so I guess I am hanging on to this for now. Not quite attracted to the matte colors of the S22 Ultra really. Besides, it's quite heavy. Might take a few years before I give in to the hybrid version. So still a happy Note fan here!
I'm keeping my Note 20 Ultra. I still use a micro SD card so the S22 Ultra is a lose for me. The flagship S22 Ultra should have every single piece of hardware and features to make it the absolute best phone.
The unfortunate reality is that the SD card slot is probably never coming back. You won't be able to get it on any flagship phone so we are eventually going to have to just deal with it.
It would be nice to have the features like a headphone Jack and a sd card but you have the s pen, massive battery, camera without a camera bump, crazy amount of cameras, stereo speakers, cooling, and the wireless charging, reverse wireless charging and fast USB charging. So how is there room for a large and outdated headphone Jack?
@@jasonfox8569 at the end of your phones update cycle, if you still love the last note phone in the series you could always root it and flash a rom onto it, keep it fresh for as long as you want.
Just reading through comments, it's clear that eliminating SD storage was a mistake by Samsung. I have the S21 Ultra and its the only feature I think it really misses.
@@tonebonebgky2 I mean.. not all of us use SD cards. I've had Samsung since the note 4 and never used the expandable storage. I stream everything I watch and listen to so I don't need it.
@@beruk2pac like I said, been using notes since the note edge. It's never been something I cared about. But I do get the frustration if it's something you're use to.
I have tested ton of smartphones within last few years and have to say note 20 ultra is my favourite phone is terms of camera performance and features. I'm hoping to do do a full camera comparison between those 2 phones. Don't think the s22 ultra is a huge improvement. Definitely not having sd slot might put lots of people off.
@@tammifohr8414 i heard the tint issue only effected a few batches. mines been great and moon photos have been awesome! sorry you got a dud. fingerprint reader has also been great as long as they aren't wet or your underwater lol
Honestly I'm not going to upgrade . Until I no longer get patches and frankly not having SD card option for the price seems kind of stupid. My perspective what's the point of getting a 120 gigs or something without the ability to have SD card you'll eat that pretty fast.
Thanks for the comparison video, im still on my Note 20 Ultra and personally feel that it's not worth upgrading to the S22 Ultra. Only noticeable differences is in the Camera section where obviously the S22 Ultra outperforms it. Im sticking to my Note 20 Ultra until it does not receive updates no more.
I was also debating it at first as well. But what really sold me was the refresh rate screen. I always hated I could only have 60hz refresh at UHD Resolution on the note 20 Ultra. And lowering the resolution was quite noticeable when watching 4k content. Considering the massive credit Samsung is giving, $200+ store credit & more with the code above, almost full trade in credit of $800 for the note 20 ultra and some other pre-order give aways. It was a no brainer upgrade for me. I think in total I had over $1500 credit and discounts applied at checkout with a Tab 8 Ultra in my cart as well. So I was content with the pre-order. Even though it's not a massive upgrade over the note 20 ultra, Pre-order discounts and trade in credit seriously made the upgrade worth it.
no need to upgrade to any phone thats less than 2 years old ,my s9 still works like new ,no reason whtsoever to buy a new phone ,phones are worthless investment ,save ya money on property instead
Im still on my Note 20 Ultra - Its been a great work tool - however 2 things that have driven me nuts, are inconsistent fingerprint reader, and utterly rubbish facial ID . The camera upgrade along would probably be worth me upgrading alone! However Nobody reviewing these devices tests the fingerprint & Facial ID - I would sincerely hope that both would have been improved!
First it was the headphone jack, now it's the storage expansion. They remove options and force customers to adapt to stupid decisions like buying dongles to listen to music or take calls without having to use with Bluetooth (which I personally despise for multiple reasons). Pisses me off to no end. At least the kept the damn pen. Sigh.
@Dobbies Revenge the pen is what makes the phone a bit better. I don't use my pen a lot. But it is needed for certain things. I love a phone having its own pen hidden away. You may think it's small, but it's more important then you make out
FYI, you can turn on "show refresh rate" in the developer options. The S22 ultra never seems to drop below 24. On the always on display, it stays at 60. Maybe it's buggy or maybe this will be optimized with software in the future
I'm on an S20 Ultra and the display + cameras is enough for me to upgrade. The autofocus issues are annoying on my S20U and the fact that I can only do 120hz @ 1080p and without variable refresh rate is a bit of a downer. Cameras are also a decent improvement so to me this is a worthy upgrade. Helps that Samsung offers good trade-in value. Can't wait to get mine!
Uh man, the S20 Ultra appears to be the worst Samsung phone ever released due to the price/overheating/autofocus issues. Throw that turd back at them and treat yourself to the new juicy S22 Ultra
@@TimothyChase considering Samsung Knox, it might be (not sure). But atleast it's equally secure. But the unique feature of MST was that you can tap and make payments on card readers which don't have NFC (old models). This usually surprises shopkeepers lol. Offcourse you also have NFC included, so basically it works almost everywhere.
You talked about almost everything except for the RAM differences, which plays a big role in overall performance in such premium devices. The fact that Note 20 ultra has 12 GB of RAM without any exception, but on the new Samsung, you only get the 12 GB of RAM if you go with the most expensive version of that. I am a big fan of Samsung smartphone myself, and I would never ever upgrade from my note 20 ultra to the galaxy series unless Samsung comes up with something better in the future.
@Sansiqq No that's not quite right. Have you ever had a Samsung note? They have built differently. I am using Samsung phones from the S3 model. The built quality between galaxy and note series used to be quite obvious.
that's what I'm worried about! I was able to get an employee discount on pre ordering the s22 Ultra so with trading in my note 20 Ultra, I only paid $89.99 for a 256GB S22 Ultra- but now I'm thinking I should return the phone when I get it. The difference in RAM+expandable memory.... it's tough
@Kandyce Macchi You might not need that much extra RAM, though. I mentioned the difference in my comment, but at the same time, I know the fact that not everyone needs to have more than 6 GB of RAM. Do you use your phone with several apps open at a time like multitasking?
I wish Samsung would actually listen to their customers and bring back expandable memory!! If the S22 Ultra had it I'd upgrade tomorrow! But since it doesn't, I'll be sticking with my Note 20 Ultra! It's bad enough they had to copy Apple by getting rid of the headphone jack and then they stopped including the charger with the phone.. how about letting us keep the one thing that Apple has never had which is expandable memory!!!
There's absolutely no reason to ditch my Note20 Ultra for this. Hopefully, Samsung continues making these S Ultra devices (or something comparable in form & function to my Note20 Ultra) in 2024, since that's when I think my Note20 Ultra would stop getting security patches, and I'm not comfortable using a device that no longer gets security patches.
I planned on keeping my Note 20 Ultra for a while as well, but it had screen hardware defect with burn in that has been reported online many times and Samsung doesn't acknowledge it. Because of this I traded mine in toward a 22 ultra, hopefully they don't have the same issues.
Watching this on my note 10 plus. This makes me smile that the note line is still alive after a year of delay. I'm not switching anytime soon since, I'm still satisfied with my note.
I also have the Note 10 Plus ...However, samsung is offering me 400 to buy the note back ....also 250 in spendable Samsung bucks ...... I get my ultra on the 25th my note will be gone on the 26
So am I but I feel I need to trade in as it it showing it's age and I think the latest update is the last. Unfortunately, the microSD is gone and it 512GB is attractive to me.
Damn I was really on the fence, hence why I watched the video. I love the matte finish and really wanted the graphite however with a case on it, does it really matter? I'm definitely interested in camera upgrade I take tons of photos! With that said the absence of expandable memory is a huge deal for me especially being that I'm out of storage with 512gb note 20 with a 238GB SD card and both are nearly full. I'm terrible at deleting things. So is it worth paying off the note 20 to get the 22 ultra just for a different color and better latency on a pen I only use from time to time. Sacrificing on storage??? I'm leaning no right now unfortunately. I know I will need to upgrade and will probably upgrade to the 22 ultra and will lose out on the pre-order deals. I would love to have the newer camera with better zoom, and the better low light, better stabilization on videos, but that lack of storage is killing me! I should learn to better clear up and back up my stuff. Between my Canon, my drone, and me GoPro in addition to the massive amounts of photos I take with my phone for work, backpacking and hiking, that storage is a big deal and had no idea till I saw this video. Thank you keep up good work. I have 3 days to make final decision and I THINK I'm sticking with note 20. It's the Storage man the storage. Peace ✌️
ur such a consumer, litrally if u have a note 20 ultra then whats the point of waisting a bunch of material for slightly better photos which are barely noticable. u have a phone why would u waist over 1k on something slightly better,. if ur really looking to spend 1k on something because it has slightly better photos then u might as well buy a high quality compact camera if ur really concerned just buy a camera. or maybe instead of waisting a grand on something which wont change u at all then maybe put it to good use and invest in climate change or someone else who needs it or something which will actually make the 1k worth it. so petty.
Everything is streaming or on the cloud. Music is streaming, photos on the cloud, movies streaming. You only need a little bit of space for apps and games
I ordered the S22 Ultra 512 GB version, but I'm gonna keep my Note20 Ultra as well because it's been such a great device, and It's also the last phone released with the "Note" branding, that makes it "The Real Note" I also still have my Note9 around...
Been using my note 5 with my note 20 ultra. Actually, using the note 5 in watching this comparison, while charging my 20 ultra. Never thinking of ugrading to s22 ultra yet.
The S22U is a great phone. However I choose to keep my N20U primarily do to the facts that it has expandable storage, the battery life is not that much different with my heavy usage, and it had a charger. Yea there are updated features that are pretty damn good on the S22U but I do not feel there are enough advances in technology that would encourage me to buy the S22U. I'll definitely be waiting another year or two.
You might wanna hold on to that note 20 for as long as you can, by the time it breaks in a couple years there almost certainly won’t be a phone with expandable storage. Sorry bud
Of course @@sahajpatel2784 and the reason is an iphone is primarily a phone with benefits but a Note is a highly functional device that happens to have a phone. I had become righteously spoiled by having something more efficient than my desktop PC in my pocket lol
Yawn On-board UFS storage is FAR BETTER than any crappy incredibly slow and sometimes non-functional (looking at you Spotify multi-hour downloads) external storage. So there is that.
I'm passing on this upgrade. My Note 20 Ultra 512gb with 1tb sd card tops the S22 ultra. Slight upgrades at best with the S22 ultra. Thanks for the great comparison as always.
A 2 year old phone does NOT top new phone just because sd card slot. That phone is not gonna stick around forever, give it 5 years and the phone wont be much use anymore so sd slot doesnt even matter
I have the note 20 ultra and honestly the camera gives me a lot of issues, it gets out of focus and i have to switch to video and then back to the camera for it to focus. I dont understand why thats happening, is it a software issue?
@GeXExtremist Not really other than camera improvements. The Note 20 ultra is lighter, more comfortable in the hands, has expandable storage, and is slightly bigger, and the Note 20ultra came with a charger out of the box 📦 Why pay more for fewer features?
Note 20 Ultra is still the flagship! I kept the Note 20 Ultra and my sister went with the s22 Ultra. That said, we're both happy and I'm not missing anything. It is nice that they combined the S series with the Note series. Hopefully the next one will have a 7' screen size option and micro SD slot!
Best option both for business and consumer will be to add micro sd for 512gb model and remove all others, but samsung ain't doing it. also note still has mst and radio, so it's more of a real note and still the most feature rich phone on the market
I have the note 20 ultra and my wife has the s22 ultra. Both are amazing and there are minor updates mostly in the cameras. Now as far as for the camera bumps on both phones are concerned, if you look carefully, the s22 ultra is a little thicker, and the note 20 ultra is a little thinner, making it appear the camera bumps are thicker on the note 20 ultra. In reality the cameras are the same height. My note is still a beast!
Had to upgrade from my Note 20 Ultra as the Pre Order offer of £579 plus Galaxy Buds Pro and Disney Plus free for 12 months was too good to pass! Was concerned about the non expandable storage however I never took my SD card out the phone once 🤐
I ordered my S22 Ultra in White and can't wait to get it! I have the 13 Pro Max right now and will go between the both of them! It's going to be nice to be able to customize my phone again and I wish Apple would allow the customization that Android does! I'll have the best of both now! 🙂
Is this the exynos/eu version? I heard the US doesn't get factory Installed screen protectors (which is really dumb, the Samsung screen protector that came with my note 10+ was phenomenal and I appreciated it so much). This s22 ultra seems to have a screen protector 2:22. But I thought saf had US version. Anyway exynos also is still running pre release software. Early on people said SD dks better in benchmarks. Then exynos did a lot better. And now exynos 2200 barely does better and in some cases worse than exynos 2100 and gets destroyed by SD 8 gen 1. It's getting confusing. All I want is a good phone, with flagship performance /nhardware and PARITY between exy / SD. I don't need the exy to be better but at least for ONCE have parity. Exynos is always worse and for a moment there it looked like it was better this gen. And now it might actually be the biggest difference in exynos / SD history in favour of SD
@@godofchaoskhorne5043 I agree, there are so many factors to take into consideration. So far the only tests we are seeing is in the European market, which gets the Exynos version. Regardless of how it performs compared to the SD version, it is still running currently on software that isn't optimized. It's nice to see how it currently runs, however I don't put much importance on the early comparisons because the phones aren't optimized yet.
@@PerformanceRaven I heard exynos is getting an update on the 24th but I'm not sure what the source for that is. Also since release varies for updates depending on the region and provider, idk when exactly it will release / doubt everyone will get it on the 24th. My exynos 22 ultra is being delivered early (on the 22nd) so I can check it out and do my own benchmarks then but I will likely not have the update of there even is one Anyway really excited for my s22 ultra. Super happy I'm getting it early. I actually expected to get it later (provider I bought it at sent an email confusingly saying they didn't have stock yet and the phone would be delivered starting from the 25th.. which we already knew but it made me think it likely wouldn't be delivered on the 25th) and since 25 is on a Friday I figured it would be delivered between 2/28 and 3/4
@@godofchaoskhorne5043 Yeah I heard that Samsung will be release a big software update around the time the pre-orders are getting delivered. That's when these performance tests will get interesting.
Note 20 the U.S. version had two major disturbing issues. While using the camera with the flash light, a lot of noise or distortion appears in the pictures. The second is an overheating issue. These were the two reasons for me to change that device to S22 Ultra.
@Aluchi Del Pasado The overheating appeared while taking pictures and videos of an event for a long period. The quality of the pictures wasn't as good as the S22 Ultra (the one I am using at the moment). I am referring to the US version; I didn't try the international version. The international version processor might not have done the same issue because of being slower with less generating heat.
@Aluchi Del Pasado. It's OK; however, it could be improved in many ways. I would wait for the S23 Ultra, it might be worth it if it comes with improved better battery life, camera capabilities, and more privilege such as emergency satellite calling.
Hello, Do you use it with a back cover ?? I am really confused about this. I hate using it with a cover but, I am afraid about scratches on the camera screen.
@@dentartistsaiftaji5610 Before I used to have a Spigen cover but I removed it. The case makes it more heavier and bulky. As long as you do not drop it and that you take good care of it.
@@dentartistsaiftaji5610 I use mine with an Otterbox cover, just enough case to give me a lip above the camera module and front screen so no matter what way I put my phone down it's resting on case 🍻
I'm not sure I understand the issue regarding this hybrid device. What I bought my S20 Ultra for was the power (e.g., I am able to open and use Excel and among other things, run a computationally intensive program that generates Mandelbrot zoom movies) and fairly impressive photography. The shape was nice, but I heard that the screen could crack easily, I couldn't do macro shots anymore, 30x was poor quality, and I was mostly not happy with night shots, although dusk could be really nice. Photography looks greatly improved in this beast, speed has improved, I won't have a. SD slot but I will have 512 GB of storage and I still get my 12 GB of RAM plus a chip that will blow last year's away. Then I get a stylus with which I am able to remotely control the camera, avoid bumping the camera just as I am taking a shot. The stylus increases the accuracy of touching the screen and opening the apps I want. With it I can substitute my cursive for the swypos that substitute "look over the rats" for "loop over the ears" when describing earbuds, etc. It seems to be a win virtually across the board. But if for some reason I was allergic to using the stylus I would simply ignore it. To be honest though I have wanted that feature for a while.
Excited about comparing the 22 Ultra to my 20 Ultra side-by-side. Says it'll be here 2/22, which is 3 days earlier than expected. This will be my first Note style phone, and a cool tech toy to play with. Also, I've used Canva, and I have to agree that it is super easy to use. It's good stuff paired up with PS, or GIMP. GIMP may not have the time saving tools that PS has, but it can do the same things, for the most part.
I'm gonna stick with my note 20 ultra for a bit longer. Hopefully in the next 2 years they make a new z fold thats good enough for me to want the upgrade.
It's think it's more beneficial for Samsung to move in this direction. Instead of making another line where a majority will buy the galaxy over the note, it's best to just to combine it in their galaxy series. Whether you want the s pen or not wouldn't matter it's always good to know that it's there if you should ever need it.
Agreed. Although I don't get the naming convention. They could have combined it to something like S22 Note. If the S22 Ultra had microSD, MST, and a charger in the box (Also a headphone jack and IR blaster, but that's never gonna happen), it would actually be the perfect Note device. Hoping we get this stuff back next year, but that hinges on people NOT buying this year. Companies only language is money. Samsung is no exception.
Never understood why buying the s over the note. This new phone is clearly a note with the s name. Only the note had the s pen. Now the s lovers will finally buy a note. I don't care what the name is I like the note line.
That Defeats the Purpose of Having a smaller note Handset then It was Incredible that Samsung launched the note 10 and note 10+ and also the Note 20 and the note 20 ULTRA!
The "Note" line evolved to be more than just everything in the kitchen sink. It was productivity and user interface for those who wanted exactly that. Taking feature after feature away (3.5mm & SD card reader) and trying to be Apple, is a poor business strategy. Paying over 1k for a phone and all you get is the phone with less features and no charger? One type c-c wire that most people don't even have a charging brick for? As well, isn't there a liability if someone uses a cheap or bad charging brick and it in turn damages the device? I just don't get it. I was reluctant to buy the N20U but it looks like it'll be my last Samsung purchase- for a while, if not indefinite. Coming from a guy who's exclusively purchased Samsung's since the S3, that's just crappy. Cheers on the good comparison Saf, it's not your fault the new devices are less value.
I'm upgrading from my Note10+ 5g to the S22 Ultra. Gotta say it was a close call - but I got my phone on special just before note20 was released and have always regretted not waiting for the better camera. The loss of the expandable storage is a real pain, but I've had several memory card failures in the past. Got NAS storage at home so hoping to back my phone up on that. Other than that I'm only really upgrading for the camera and battery life, and my Mrs will get my old phone (bit of an upgrade from her A50). If I'd had the note 20, there's no way I'd be upgrading.
After watching this video (thank you) I am sticking with my Note 20 Ultra. The upgrades do not seem valuable enough to me, to have to provision a new handset which is like loading a U-Haul for a move. Plus I'm so entrenched in the ecosystem I would have to reset all my watches, TVs, etc. My S22 Ultra that I pre-ordered is out for delivery as we speak. Lol. Sending it right back to Samsung.
Samsung did great job with S22U ,I compared it with my Note 20U ,feels lit a bit faster, desing is thing of choice, front looks almost same. Much more change to me would be from S21U to S22U just personal opinion, Thx for comparison. 👍
as someone who used both, the note 20 ultra looks better and seems to run better for me, crazy that the newer phones aren't keeping up with the older ones.
n20: sd card mst fm radio better design (imo) s22: better chip marginally better camera n20 has more features and note phones are known to be most feature rich on the market so it's clear the killing of note lineup is not just on words, but on paper too
I'm using notes since 4 series and upgrading it every second year. What I mentioned, every time after samsung, releases a new phone I'm receiving lot of updates for my old phone. From that moment the phone start having lags, battery lasting 5 6 hours and apps crashing every time. Im gonna update my note 20 ultra to s22 ultra, but I'm pretty sure in a couple years it will be the same
That's what made me leave the note family in the 4th generation, i blinked at 10+ and decided to grab the note 20 ultra. I intend to keep it for a long time, i think it will be the last of its kind. They are going too much to the Apple way of paying more for less...
Not enough of an upgrade performance wise for me. In all honesty most would never even see the difference. Aside from the camera I was even disappointed going from my Note 9 to my Note 20 Ultra. At this point in the game 1-2 years is not worth it. 4 years is probably more like it. That's even ignoring the lack of microSD slot.
@@koen09871 it also looks like the video is cropped Edit: also I think the same effect is happening on top and bottle bezels. The metal frame doesn't extend as much at the top either. At the very least they are same size if not smaller, just on a slightly smaller phone
Great video! I was really trying to get a handle on whether the new S22 Ultra could be considered a "NOTE" device or not. I think for me, your video calmed many of my fears - however, losing the expandable storage in the S22 Ultra is not a good move for Samsung in their Flagship device. That's a big deal to me and will probably keep me from going in that direction.
Ditto. The lack of MST and the charger as well. I'm not a fan of Samsung ditching their rebellious identity in favor of just copying all of Apple's bad business practices.
@@njpme Not even close. People keep coming and saying the same thing over again, but that won't make it true. There's no such thing as "enough" storage for everybody, because the term is relative to one's own use case. Subjectivity and objectivity are polar opposites.

I have the note 20 ultra but recently bought the fold3 and I'm inclined to keep my note cause it's just an all around great device! I'm glad I didn't trade the note in cause I'm not thrilled with the fold, I think the fold is a little bit of a gimmick, it's big and bulky so I'm really in a pickle now.
My issue with the note 20 is, it's not compatible with a whole lot of devices like interfaces for audio recording. Does the 22 accommodate this as a new feature like an iPhone?
Gorilla Glass Victus Schmictus.. The glass is so sensitive to fine scratches. I've learned to not even worry about the screen on my new phone anymore. Older Notes had stronger screens.
Thanks for the in-depth review. It's truly unfortunate that Samsung didn't give the S22 Ultra expandable storage. I'm at well over 512 GB on my Note 10 Plus - which is easy to do is you take a lot of photos and videos. So I'll be looking at the 1 TB version of the S22 Ultra. The key but of information I'm missing is whether I would lose WiFi Calling (and less importantly, visual voicemail) going with the 1TB since it's only available unlocked. When I got an unlocked Note 8, I wasn't able to use WiFi Calling, which is a very important feature for me. This is why I upgraded to a carrier locked Note 10 Plus....
@@cali8221 I work in many, many locations where cellular coverage is terrible - but the site has excellent WiFi coverage (because fiber optic cable was strung or trenched to the site). SuperSaf! Thank you for detailed review! Specially the camera! Thank god the focus/macro photo has improved! Your review is spot on for Note 20 Ultra! I have Note 20 Ultra and just pre-ordered the S22 Ultra few days ago.. and this review helps a lot!
I think that, the square cutout for the camera assembly is the best look combined with the mystic bronze color for a note. Samsung really did an excellent design for it.
Thanks for the comparison between note 20 ultra and s22 ultra. Your video helps me to understand to upgrade my device or not. I think I need to wait for another year.
I love my Note 20 Ultra. It's lightning fast at everything. For the first time ever I won't be upgrading when my 24 months is up. Sim only for me. Save a ton of cash and the phone is still top drawer. ✌️
Thanks for this. I read really tiny to decide which one to get and even tho they were almost neck and neck, the expandable storage is what sold the note for me. Other than that, the s22 would've had me sold
@@tammyb520 whatever works for u. I save lots of things with my phone and I only have the 128gb version, so this is a plus for me and I didn't have to pay as much for an extra gb version and still have just as much or more space using expandable storage 🤷🏽♂️
I was very hesitant to trade in my Note 20 Ultra for the S22 Ultra, but in the end decided to go for it. Best decision ever. Despite how dear I held the Note, the S22 put both its battery and camera in the dust. Those are the two biggest improvements. I don't use an SD card so the lack of it in my S22 wasn't much of an issue for me.
@@adamski101 Especially the battery, yes. I used to charge the Note twice a day, on the days I didn't have it hooked to my car charger all the time, that is.
I have a Note 20U and I honestly find the S22+ nicer as far as design. The only way I’ll upgrade is if the next gen of the S22U has flat edges and screen. Sort of over the curved displays.
I prefer the authentic note 20 ultra its very beautiful in its limited array of colors. I picked up the white and it looks like a pearl white it has a shimmer to it very beautiful and the specs, cameras and display screen are amazing. I just bought in Oct 2022 pairing it with my s20 ultra and they've been a dream team. I will be keeping these for awhile.
I just bought the 20 ultra, it's gonna be derived home tomorrow. Found the mystic black available, felt in love. The new one, the 22, it's so expensive, and the fact you can't use a memory card hmm...here in Spain, the prices start at 1350€. I hope I made a good decision. I'm still using my s7edge 😅
FINALLY. I've been asking every dmn youtuber if the s22 ultra comes with a screenprotector like my note 10+ did. No one answers ffs. But you can see a screen protector at 2:22. It's insane that reviewers won't even mention it, considering the Samsung screen protector is the best I've seen EVER. It's crystal clear with zero distortion, it's applied flawlessly, it lasts for years and doesnt interfere with the fingerprint most importantly (for me) it protects the oleophobic coating and the coating on the screen protector never ever rubs off / fades. Despite being plastic it also feels as smooth and nice as glass. It protected my note 10+ for over 2 and a half years. I removed it after ordering an s22 ultra and my screen is FLAWLESS despite some very deep scratches on the screen protector. Honestly regret removing it. And I only did that because a year kr so ago a cheap new Chinese phone cover I bought damaged one of the sides slightly making a tiny part of the left side (left middle strangely not any corner) loose, raised. Only like a mm or so. But I decided since I'm buying a new phone anyway might as wel remove it. First I was super happy to see how well it did its job. Then I kinda felt guilty / bad worried I was now rubbing off the oleophobic coating of this perfect screen lol. P.s. kinda obsessed with the oleophobic coating since it rubbed off for me afterlike 6 moonys or so on multiple note phones before the note 10. You can't replace it unless you replace the entire screen, and the part where it rubbed off feels horrible, no longer feels silky and collects skin oil etc. The parts where it hadn't rubbed off will still feel super smooth and silky while the part where it rubbed off will feel stiff and roughish. It's still smooth but stiff hard to explain. Basically rub your finger over a regular glass window or surface and that's how it feels. While glass with oleophobic coating feels soft and super silky

The expandable storage is a deal breaker. Bought a second Note 20 as a backup since its the last of its kind. Samsung really droped the ball here. Of course they want you to purchase more space in the cloud...NO thanks.
I'm a note 20 ultra user and I really didn't want to upgrade but the trade in offers were so good. I kind of had to lol, especially when I got the tab s8 ultra for $200 with the glitch.
@@JoseRamirez-qm4em well Samsungs website usually has a glitch during these big launches. This year there was a deal for buying the phone and getting 25% off the tablet and using the 200-250 credit towards it. However, the tablet had a normal trade in deal which was good on its own like S9 trade in for $400. So the glitch was to add the tablet to cart first with trade in and skid ad ons, then add a phone to cart and skip add ons. The result was a trade in discount for both devices, 25% off the tablet, minus 400 for trade in and minus 250 credit towards it and any member discount like military. Samsung figured it out eventually and fixed it so you won't be able to do this as I'm typing it sorry.

It was a no brainer for me.
The wife picked Galaxy Buds Pros and like 3 cases for herself lol
I used to care about MicroSD storage but the on board storage is lightyears faster than the read and write speeds of even the fastest microSD card it becomes a moot point to me, plus I never even remove my card anyway.
I really like the new S22 ultra. But not having a expandable SD card slot makes it a little less attractive.
I've been using a Op7 pro 256gb for 2+ years and I'm a power user (rooted) and I'm only at 100GB Used out of 244GB, never thought of using an SD card especially when its slower than the UFS storage...

Owning a few portable SSD's will be my way to improvise not having expandable micro SD storage. Problem solved.
True not having a headphone jack was hard but without Sd card on my s20 ultra because i downloaded a thousand of songs is hard
The unfortunate reality is that the SD card slot is probably never coming back. You won't be able to get it on any flagship phone so we are eventually going to have to just deal with it.

My perspective what's the point of getting a 120 gigs or something without the ability to have SD card you'll eat that pretty fast.
@@tammifohr8414 I agree that the camera is horrible. My Samsung Galaxy S7 has a better camera than the Note 20 Ultra, which is such a disappointment.
I'm only getting one because my screen is cracked on my note 20 ultra. Also the cameras don't focus anymore unless you hit the phone
I'm fine with my 20. Still does what I need it to do with no complaints. But the 22 looks nice.
Thats how it should be, to upgrade only when your phone stops getting software updates.

Thanks for this video! I have the Note 20 ultra and was stuck on the fence. I'm honestly still stuck, but this was really helpful to watch.
Well said
Only the cheapest s22u has 8 gigs of ram, all other models have 12. This is a note in everything, but the name. :)

Had to upgrade from my Note 20 Ultra as the Pre Order offer of £579 plus Galaxy Buds Pro and Disney Plus free for 12 months was too good to pass! Was concerned about the non expandable storage however I never took my SD card out the phone once 🤐
Don't forget the primary advantage of expandable storage means spending less money since you can buy the lowest storage option.
I ordered my S22 Ultra in White and can't wait to get it! I have the 13 Pro Max right now and will go between the both of them! It's going to be nice to be able to customize my phone again and I wish Apple would allow the customization that Android does! I'll have the best of both now! 🙂
@@dani_i8942 Samsung sucks now too
@@dani_i8942 No I won't throw it away, but I'll most likely box it up and save it as a backup phone. :-)
@@corvette72778 They all suck but I keep throwing my money at them LOL!!!!
I'd like to see these comparisons done with the SD version of the S22U, when it isn't running the pre-release software that hasn't been optimized.
My exynos 22 ultra is being delivered early (on the 22nd) so I can check it out and do my own benchmarks then but I will likely not have the update of there even is one
Anyway really excited for my s22 ultra.
Excellent video. I found it most helpful in helping me decide (upgrading from s10+). Will go for at least the 512GB version.
...most USEFUL in helping me decide...
Note 20 the U.S. version had two major disturbing issues. While using the camera with the flash light, a lot of noise or distortion appears in the pictures. The second is an overheating issue. These were the two reasons for me to change that device to S22 Ultra.
Does the overheating happens during normal use or gaming? Do you know if this issue with the US version or also the international one?
Thanks
@Aluchi Del Pasado The overheating appeared while taking pictures and videos of an event for a long period. The quality of the pictures wasn't as good as the S22 Ultra (the one I am using at the moment).
I am referring to the US version; I didn't try the international version. The international version processor might not have done the same issue because of being slower with less generating heat.
@@HT-ex1jt thanks I will consider the S22 Ultra then
How is the battery on that one?
@Aluchi Del Pasado.
It's OK; however, it could be improved in many ways.
I would wait for the S23 Ultra, it might be worth it if it comes with improved better battery life, camera capabilities, and more privilege such as emergency satellite calling.
Thanks Saf, this confirms to me that I should just stick with my Note 20 Ultra for at least another year 👌
Hello, Do you use it with a back cover ?? I am really confused about this. I hate using it with a cover but, I am afraid about scratches on the camera screen.
@@dentartistsaiftaji5610 Before I used to have a Spigen cover but I removed it. The case makes it more heavier and bulky. As long as you do not drop it and that you take good care of it.

Technically, It's RIP Galaxy S Series (Top Model Only). Note Series Just Got Rebranded, RIP S22 Ultra.
Exactly. It's just a rebrand.
Yup! S21 Ultra was the last True S series Top Notch phone ! 😭😢
When a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and S21 Ultra really love each other...
Watching this on my note 20 ultra
I have my Note 20 Ultra and the improvements are not enough for an upgrade, for me at least. I'm more keen on that S8 Ultra tablet though.
Same here!
My sentiment as well, I'm thinking of using the tablet as a infotainment screen in my DodgeRam,since the truck has wifi
Every Samsung phone is a Galaxy...
@@realuncledrew 👏 good job
This is the comparison I was waiting for! I own a Note20U and am thinking of switching to the new S22U
don’t man wait at least one more year
Samsung did great job with S22U ,I compared it with my Note 20U ,feels lit a bit faster, desing is thing of choice, front looks almost same. Much more change to me would be from S21U to S22U just personal opinion, Thx for comparison. 👍
as someone who used both, the note 20 ultra looks better and seems to run better for me, crazy that the newer phones aren't keeping up with the older ones.
n20:
sd card
mst
fm radio
better design (imo)
s22:
better chip
marginally better camera
n20 has more features and note phones are known to be most feature rich on the market so it's clear the killing of note lineup is not just on words, but on paper too
This is 100% the video I've been waiting for!
When it comes to aesthetics, Note 20 Ultra is just better… by far 🔥
Damn right 🔥🔥🔥
Note 20U has thinner bezels, too

@@caabirhusen3219 The chin isnt thinner, it only looks like that because his s22 has a black metal frame. The top bezel apears to be slightly thicker

I'm not a fan of Samsung ditching their rebellious identity in favor of just copying all of Apple's bad business practices.
sd card is being left in the past. Most phones these days have enough storage.
@@njpme Not even close.
People keep coming and saying the same thing over again, but that won't make it true.
There's no such thing as "enough" storage for everybody, because the term is relative to one's own use case. Subjectivity and objectivity are polar opposites.

I'm curious to know why is wifi calling so important???am I not up to date on a feature lol?
@@cali8221 I work in many, many locations where cellular coverage is terrible - but the site has excellent WiFi coverage (because fiber optic cable was strung or trenched to the site). In the bad old days, I would simply live without text or phone calls while in these locations, only to be hit with a bunch of voicemail messages and texts once I got back into cellular coverage. With the invention of WiFi Calling, my carrier will reroute phone calls from cellular broadcast to encrypted internet protocol. Yay! I can make and receive phone calls even in the bowels of a metal and concrete structure! As long as there's good WiFi coverage.
@Hung Wasson makes alot of sense..Yea,I was like what does he know that I dnt know about this wifi calling so that's why I asked..Thanks!!!

I was very hesitant to trade in my Note 20 Ultra for the S22 Ultra, but in the end decided to go for it. Best decision ever. Despite how dear I held the Note, the S22 put both its battery and camera in the dust. Those are the two biggest improvements.

How did you get the tab s8 ultra for 200
@@JoseRamirez-qm4em well Samsungs website usually has a glitch during these big launches.
