Can you help me put a list of gear that would be necessary? Fishing pole, reel, line, lures and rigs for bait? I really want to try this out but only got light rods
What are the ones you call blackies? Is there a minimum size? Do they taste good? Do you thing those fish mostly survive that toss back - it’s hard to tell how high off the water you are? Do you just drop through the kelp and hope if a fish bites you can cut through the kelp with the braid? Or do you look for gaps it the kelp? Do you thing that gear would be heavy enough to pull a ling up through the air?
that black and yellow one is a scorpion fish right? aka sculpin? Pretty darn venomous in the spines? I have trouble telling the difference between cabezons and sculpins, but it seems to me the spines on top are more protruded, have greater distance between them and are less webbed. Plus they have those two pronounced anal spines, which cabezon dont have. Any thoughts?
@@BayAreaWaters just went out trying to get hooked up but got skunked 😞 went to Jenner a killer spot two pull outs past jenner headland park parking lot , has two beautiful coves where I've caught lings and rubberlips but not this time. Then hit salmon creek beach and had a few bites using sand crabs but couldn't get them . Guess that's why they call it fishing and not catching 😅
Yea..pulling fish out of kelp really messes up their mouth or gut , from pulling on the line. That's why I try to avoid kelp . Don't like torturing the fish. Great video though.
Dude if your fishing and not take home. The ones that you damaged ripping lips and jaws just dispatch and take home. Do you really think theyll be able to survive? I Don't think so, feed your neighbors when you return home, they'll appreciate it.
This guy keeps them out of the water way to long and that hook set is just fuhking all of they're mouths up, and the screaming after every catch is cringy ASF if he can lose that weird and cringy screaming it would actually be a decent video 💯

whats the minimum size limit for black and blue rockfish?i know cabz are 15' and lings are 22' but not sure on the other 2? anyone know?
No size limits on those. Greenling’s are 12 inches also

Ride up highway one. Any pull offs with trails usually have good spots. Fine a nice safe rock and cast into structure
