Create a Living Bamboo Fence

  • A short video showing what four years of growth will look like to create a living bamboo fence. I used two varieties; Bambusa textilis mutabilis and Bambusa pervariabilis viridistriata. Six total plants that were all single culm divisions.

    Im going to be doing the same thing after I get my root barrier in the ground. I live in southern Louisiana and haven't had canes until June. Ur vids on clumping is what gave me the knowledge to propagate!

      @@fatbuddhaboo i have a graceful bamboo that has 8 culms and just made a new one. I recently propagated a different clumping type for a screen that i do not know the name of.

    Your old video on cutting/propagating bamboo with a sawzall, what TPI is the blade are you using? What size too?

      Sorry for the reaaalllly late delay in replying. I use the most course and longest blade possible.

    Is there a variety that doesn’t grow so tall? I’m thinking maybe 12 feet?

      Sorry for the delay in replying.
      I've actually recently purchased a much smaller clumping bamboo, Bambusa guangxiensis aka Chinese Dwarf Bamboo, which is reported to only attain heights of around 20 feet and is easily trimmed shorter for that compact hedge look. I'll be putting it in the ground soon.
