So in case anyone is confused: the guy does a micro-walk forward between the HK and the HP, which lets him regenerate just the teensiest bit of drive gauge to prevent burnout or get another drive rush extension.

@@justjackpots1179walking forward generates a bit of drive meter. He makes like 0.1 meter by walking in between the link and is able to effectively use 6.1 meters in a combo (max is usually 6). He can use the 0.1 meters for a 3rd DR cancel, OD special, DI reset.
In this game if you don’t have enough drive meter for something, it will use what you have and put you in burnout.
So the game mechanics reward you for more aggressive style, the micro walk helps with the regeneration? Interesting game. Thank you for explaining.

@@maxsantiago6569 That's a similar system to Arcsys games like Guilty Gear and DBFZ where you gain meter for doing anything aggressive. In the case of Guilty Gear you actually lose meter if you run away too much

It’s incredibly insane how willing he is to go into burnout. It also takes a lot of execution to play Ryu to this level with the kind of combo routes he’s choosing.
Ryu combo aint hard man, u just need to feel the flow np.
That's because this is a compilation of his perfect rounds, so you never see any of the times he gets punished for the bad decision of burning himself out.
@TenjinZekken Semy probably gots thrown around a lot even at his current level. There's no shot being in burnout is going to work long-term. I also saw some really dumb decisions made by opponents here that pro players wouldn't have made.
@@thenewkalpa Yep. Compilations are almost never the way to learn a game. Maybe you can use this to learn some new kill combos, (I say maybe since I don't know Ryu well enough to know if these are good combos or not), but compilations are always super skewed to one side.

Personally I've been labing out ryu and found his normals, frame data, damage, combos, neutral, defence are all fine. His offense is kinda ass without DI since only HK his plus. I remember back in 5 they used to mix stagger and tic throws after ryu's MP and it did a lot for him. I feel like all he needs is a plus on block button and he'll rise to A tier.

This is some crazy knowledge here 1:44, as far as I know, some supers don't have projectile invincibility, he knows that and chose to finish with a hadoken, instead of a meaty attack or anything else, the Ken player knew nothing about it.

I play with ryu and it never fails to baffle me how theres an extra hit when the opponent falls from the sky and it counts as an extra hit but no damage but kimberly hits you with the spray paint with a sliver of health; just her posing will k.o you lol

Only when it’s a punish counter bro, the opponent rolls for few seconds. If you are not close you can throw a shinku hadoken for punish.

This Ryu is good and all. But it's also clear the clips are from moments where his opponents are F*king up. 1:16 Juri DI on neutral? What? Even Platinum players can counter this. 4:17 Blanka leading with a DI? 8:27 Ken's kick was blocked but he still went into EX-shoryuken? This isn't even a "hindsight is 20/20" moment, these are straight up amateur mistakes that would naturally cost them the match.
This video is just a highlight of semy28's best moments. That's why it doesn't show a full match, only clips of good moments.

Ive seen this Ryu gameplan before (although in plat not master) Ryus just speed up the tempo of the match way too match and it catches people off guard. While this guy is obviously good, its really easy to adapt once you realize whats going on and lame them out, make them burn themselves out and just sit there while they kill themselves (obviously its not going to be as easy as the play Ryus). Basically play super safe and these ryus die on their own
To compare a plat ryu to a top 3 ryu player in the world is insane. Bro plat players are like bronze in sf5. You don’t have a clue what’s happening in the game.

How do you get coloured hadokens?
I love a lot about SF6 but not a fan of how one drive rush combo can take out nearly 50% of the opponent's health.
While there are some characters that are really good anyways (Ken, Luke), doing a 50% combo will use up all your drive.
This puts you in a disadvantage, where the opponent not only has more tools on the ready, but corner, becomes dangerous as you become stunned if drives against.
You don’t see too many 50% ish full drive gauge combos in tournaments unless they’re risking it, want to carry momentum or opponent is low on health, because no drive gauge is not the greatest situation to be in.
