Great video! When I install new main and rod bearings I use plasti-gage to verify the correct bearing fit. My experience has taught me to never assume the fits are correct and must be verified. Nothing worse than finding out the bearing fit is not correct after you installed and started the engine. I also use engine assembly lube because it tends to stay in place longer than using oil, but your mileage my very. Thanks for posting this video.

I typically like to use assembly lube as well, although on the cub engines people highly recommend you pressurize the oiling system using a device of your choice prior to starting it for the first time.
Barring that, I definitely agree on using assembly lube on most every engine I rebuild.

I would show more of the process. And maybe only show one or two pistons installed since it's repetitious. but I would show more the installation of the valves and the camshaft in the laughing. Also maybe get more camera angles with a camera pointing down into the engine as your assembly it.

very cool. I am in the process of restoring my grandfathers cub. I have been debating about rebuilding the engine on my own. what do you think?

It's not a tough engine to rebuild, just pay attention to the details and it will be fine. If it has much cylinder wear it will have to be bored by a machine shop and a new set of pistons and rings bought to match. You can easily spend more on rebuilding the engine than the little tractors are worth, but if you are wanting to make it reliable and keep it for a long time, it is worth it, especially if it belonged to your grandfather.
