Kinky Friedman tells about Charles Whitman's shooting

Charles Whitman as a student at the University of Texas at Austin killed 14 people and wounded 32 during a shooting rampage on and around the campus of the University.
Kinky Friedman, Texas student at the tiime, wrote a song about it, "The Ballad of Charkles Whitman".

@@tonym994 Whitman was deterred from shooting by many civilians firing toward him after the first 35 minutes or so. He had to fire through the drainage openings rather than over the rim of the deck. Obviously, he was a coward and knew what he was doing was wrong and did it anyway. He should've put the knife into his own throat before killing his mother and wife and packing his trunk for a murderous seige.

@@mslibraryghost936 My assumption that you are humorless is based on your inability to understand the song. Yes, it's dark, but it is not mockery of the victims. The shooter was a product of our most cherished institutions, including the Marine Corps and the Boy Scouts. The mockery goes to them. As a person who has attended more than 500 homicide scenes in Texas, I assure you I've grown lots of skin over the years. But I'm not a boor.

I'm mentally ill but I never did anything like Charles Whitman to just pick random people and kill them is abhorrent. He killed his mother and his wife before he started his Rampage at the campus. what could have possessed him to do that?
