    He is a hero. When most run from danger, these kind of people run toward it because they care about humanity.

    What an amazing story. The movie "Tower" from 2016 does an excellent job of humanizing the various victims, heroes, and survivors of the incident.

    Damn climbing 27 floors with his respiration and heart rate high and still managing to take him out on basically one shot is incredible (not to mention going into a live or die situation) they should have given this man a statue on that campus.. Beyond brave and heroic

      @@edwardwebster8123 That is a fact. The autopsy showed zero of his revolver rounds hit Whitman. McCoy killed Whitman with a shotgun blast. Martinez claims he has "documentation" that he did shoot Whitman with his revolver. False. From that day on he has basked in the false glory of being the man who stopped the sniper.

      He didn’t climb 27th floors …he used an elevator. The autopsy shows that there were no pistol bullet wounds. The citizen killed him with a shotgun, and then the cop tried to take the credit to boost his career.

      Correct. None of Martinez' revolver shots hit Whitman, according to the autopsy. No bullet was found in the body, only shotgun pellets from McCoy's shotgun.

      Raven, do you have any actual evidence for your conclusion that Martinez missed Whitman or are you also on a vendetta to tear down a decorated cop down like Jethro? Anyone can throw out wild unsubstantiated claims, but what matters to history is actual corroborated facts that support a logical conclusion.

      @@SKaR64Yes, the evidence is called AUTOPSY. How is that "wild unsubatantiated claims"? People whose brain can function call an autopsy evidence. Go read it and you can see for yourself that McCoy's blast from his police shotgun killed Whitman. Martinez missed all 6 shots.

    Some people say that the autopsy showed that there were no pistol wounds on the shooters body. A private citizen with a shotgun stopped him. The cop just used it to boost his career.

      It was Austin PD officer Houston McCoy who fired the fatal shotgun blast into Whitman's face that killed him.

    • @SKaR64

      Some people can say anything James. The autopsy does not omit pistol rounds hitting Whitman. Also a private citizen with a shotgun DID NOT stop him. Two police officers did.

    • @jeffro221
      @jeffro221 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SKaR64"Does not omit". Not one bullet or bullet wound was noted in the autopsy. You well know it was Officer McCoy who fired the fatal shotgun blast into Whitman's face/head that killed him. Martinez blasted away with his revolver, missing all 6 shots. The autopsy also "did not omit" that an airplane may have crashed into the tower and killed Whitman. Autopsies tell what caused death, not what didn't cause death.

      @SKaR64 if you look at the original report Martinez shot at the gunmen 6 times and missed every one. Mccoy was the one that put him down. Martinez then ran up to Whitman, took his gun and shot hik with it. He ran out of the tower proclaiming "I GOT HIM". Ndoubt martinez gave mccoy and crum the oppritunity to take put whitman but to bodlly claim he was the one that killed him was not true.

      @@armadildo6468 Where in the autopsy does it state that "Martinez shot at the gunmen 6 times and MISSED EVERY ONE."??? Ray Marinez has told his story since Aug. 1, 1966 as has Houston McCoy with what were once minor differences and would be in a combat zone. Why is McCoy also not considered a glory hound, especially since he has publicly disparaged Martinez' actions in the incident? In an extremely stressful situation, claiming that you "got", "shot" or "hit" an adversary isn't the same as loudly bragging that you definitely killed someone. I've never heard Ray brag that he killed Whitman and I've often heard him state that it was a team effort.

      @@SKaR64 "Where in the autopsy does it state that "Martinez shot at the gunmen 6 times and MISSED EVERY ONE."???" Hey genius....autopsies don't produce evidence of missed shots. They produce evidence of what happened to a human body. You didn't know that? And Whitman's autopsy said he was killed by shotgun pellets through his face. There were no handgun bullets in his body. Most people who can actually think understand that since Martinez' 6 shots from his revolver were not found to have hit Whitman's body, it therefore means that all 6 shots missed. Can your brain comprehend that? I'm sure you can't. So, are you related to Martinez?

  • @jeffro221
    @jeffro221 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    "Doesn't call himself a hero".......just lets everybody else call him a hero based on the false version he peddles of what happened on that tower. He has always claimed to being the one who shot the sniper and ended the tragedy. The autopsy showed not one bullet from Martinez' revolver hit Whitman. It was McCoy's blast from a shotgun that killed Whitman and ended it. The glory hound Martinez then grabbed the shotgun from McCoy and blasted the dead/dying body , and then ran down out of the tower and was heard claiming , "I got him, I got him". Claims that after he empited his revolver at Whitman, he told McCoy to shoot Whitman with the shotgun, and that McCoy "finally" shot him. Sure. Yes, he is a hero for running up into that tower, but then he disgraced himself by perpetuating a false version ever since of what happened up there for his own aggrandizement. I don't critricize Martinez one bit for missing every shot....the adrenaline was pumping. But to falsely claim he was hitting Whitman and "got the S.O.B." is pure baloney. Says McCoy "finally" fired his shotgun (as if he had to prompt McCoy to shoot). It doesn't dawn on him that besides the fact that McCoy was the first to actually hit Whitman with gunfire, the fact that McCoy followed Martinez' all 6 missed revolver shots with the fatal blast to Whitman's face probably also saved Martinez' butt, because he now was standing there with an empty revolver after firing 6 shots missed shots and was then helpless, that it would take some amount of time to reload (there were no revolver speedloaders in 1966). Ever thank Houston McCoy for saving your butt, Martinez? Nope.

      @@loneprimate Not Monday morning quarterbacking at all. Just setting the record straight. You have a problem with the truth? Just pointing out the simple truth of what happened after Martinez twisted the story all these years for his own fake glory. If you even read my whole comment, you saw that I acknowleged Martinez is a hero just for going up that tower. But the truth is, he has twisted the story and claims he shot Whitman, for his own benefit when he knows all along it was Officer Houston McCoy who "got Whitman." Is that you, Martinez?
