  • In this video, we will show you how to install a thru-axle bike mount in a campervan. This video is part of our Ford Transit Campervan series. Being avid mountain bikers ourselves, we wanted to allocate a significant portion of our campervan's storage space to accommodate our bikes, helmets, and gear. This thru axle bike mount for our van makes it extremely easy to travel with our mountain bikes.
    Along with this camper van bike mount, we also showcase other steps of the build such as insulation, flooring, cabinetry, and a comprehensive electrical installation. Check out our playlist of videos documenting our work over the past year ➤ • The Ultimate Camper Va...

    Could you provide a link to the straps to secure the front wheel as well?

    I got those mounts a few weeks ago and my Downhill forks, ebike forks, and our trail/enduro forks need more spacers then come in the kit. I am using wood spacers until more aluminum spacers come in. Great mounts though.

      @EXPLORISTlife  ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting! Maybe you've got a bigger caliper or something. We got extra spacers and then ended up not needing them. 😂🤣

    • @jmorgan84
      @jmorgan84 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EXPLORISTlife the calipers were not an issue for us. The issue we had was that the latest Fox 40, Fox 36, and Rockshock Zeb forks hang below the axle and the rebound adjusters sit below that. The Fox 40 being the worst requiring the most spacers.

    Can you tell us where you got the green strap you used for the front tire please?

    Very nice mounts. They are definitely pretty and if that's a priority definitely spend away! Otherwise the low-profile design seems to be defeating all the hard work to install them low-profile in the first place!
    If one didn't have tools or want to make these themselves in twenty minutes (then again, how are they fitting out their vans?), there are several highly rated options on *maz*n sub-thirty dollars and less. More than one way to go about this but mine are a hinge hooked, wood/epoxy clamp. Strong enough to hold even off-road. (The fork would probably break before the wood.)

    Do you need to do anything to secure the back wheel on a fork mount setup like this?

      Not really. Stays put pretty well.

    How I love to have them brackets. Bud not available in Holland unfortunately 😢

    Will your "400-1200Ah Battery Bank - Multiplus 3k 12v - Orion 12-12 | 30 Wiring Diagram Kit" work with more than the 1450w of solar? I am wanting to go with 2,000w or more so I want to confirm the components of the kit will work with that much solar????
    Thank you for all the information you put out that helps the diy people like myself!

    • @EXPLORISTlife
      @EXPLORISTlife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can basically put as much solar as you want, you may just need to break it up into multiple arrays/controllers. Our kits can handle that, though.

      2" by 1/8" maybe? I don't recall specifically.

    Niiice! I've been thinking on grabbing one of those mounts myself but I was wondering about something that since you have hands on experience, you might have an input. It might save space using the fork mounts on a 90º degree rotation and turning the handlebars, length wise you would lose a bit, but I have the feeling that you would still save some significant space. (or not... you might need to also remove the pedals for it to be that signigicant) What do you think?

    • @EXPLORISTlife
      @EXPLORISTlife  ปีที่แล้ว

      You could probably angle it a bit, but if you turned it a full 90 degrees, the bike would fall over since the axle could pivot in that plane.

    • @byFilipeCardoso
      @byFilipeCardoso ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EXPLORISTlife true! Maybe some sort of strap on the back wheel would help. But tbh on my setup I'm planning on having it vertically ( the mount on the wall and back wheel on the floor). With the gravity and grip of the back wheel I think it would be stable.

    I never understood why so many don’t pay more attention to low profile fork mounts. An inch less on a fork mount can give you an inch more of head room to sit up straight on your bed. Also critical is a dropper seat post clamp. The ability to have a comfortable mattress and be able to sit up in bed and not hit your head is significant for livability.

    • @kellstat
      @kellstat 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@EXPLORISTlife it is significantly more secure, not including the locking security, way easier to use especially one handed, pre-adjustableed setting, and already has the spacing built in that you would need. There's also a clone of it, but not sure if it's as good.
