I just made janky madness vampires thinking it wouldnt be that good and oddly enough its pretty strong ( not competetive) but strong nonetheless

In case it hadn't crossed your mind, since Anje has haste you can loot in response to worldgorger trigger during the loop. Since she is being flickered you can loot non madness cards and rip your whole pile. Useful If you haven't found you mana outlet yet!

@@kennodyse7417 I honestly think its pretty well comptetitive. Doomsday combos combined with cantrip-tutors to find it (like vampiric tutor) and the tutor package almost negates the need for a card draw element, and his ability means the only mana ramp you need is for casting him (hopefully on turn 2 or 3 cheerios style) it can also tutor for really brutal cards like Deathlace (now actually good, especially in competitve against green-heavy decks) and targeted creature removal like Tetzimoc, fatal push, etc. So yeah id say its pretty good. Not top tier (because no blue) but very high up there
I mean you could play with 0 lands that produce black mana...and win... :/

What annoys me is people who copy these sort of decks and then act really full of themselves when it pops off and you're just like, "good job copy and pasting dude, we're all really glad you just ended the game for everyone so we can appreciate this combo you copied and pasted from somewhere"
I know this isnt the point, but i found this fun so i figured id share with you. You should build a baral deck. Its a rather budgetable cEDH deck that i have when someone sits down with their turn 3 infinite combo deck. You basically counter everything they play, creating tokens with metallurgic and hitting them for commander damage, basically not letting then do their thing and so you and everyone else can play
I mean, i know they should just fuck off, but they never do, so i figured id spread the word :)
Imagine casting Master of Cruelties with Anger on the graveyard.
Edit: Casting Filth only makes it unblockable. Follow it with a bolt or a Avacyn's Judgement for 1 to kill a single player.

I have been playing her as a sneak attack combo deck with Mike trike and Kiki zealous as wincons
I used to write such reviews myself. Really, any deck that can be hosed just by killing a commander doesn't worth building, and Anje is just ASKING for being killed or stolen. A good deck performs well without a commander and doing *miracles* with it.
The haste, low mana cost and the Heavy graveyard reccurance theme in the deck gives a lot of options of getting her back online asap. Sometimes Even without paying for her commander tax if u have the right cards in hand. Just let her go to the yard to have her Come back from the grave. I get ur point and i agree with u but this commander has some cool potential.

I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE A MOMENT TO REMIND YOU ALL THAT RAKDOS CHARM IS THE BEST CHARM IN COMMANDER, USE IT.
I am veeeeeery sad that's not even included in the more casual deck, one shot a token player, destroy a problematic artifact or exile a graveyard, I dont care what anyone says, this is the /best/ charm
unfortunately it's in rakdos the combination i expect to be the new boros by the time the year is out with all the new toys boros is getting
Boros charm is pretty good too, but yeah rakdos charm can be devastating
@@unbanrofellos5786 i think rakdos charm is better in commander, 2 modes are super relevant and the third is a nice punish for spam decks
boros is slightly less so, 4 damage to the face is almost always irrelevant, double strike is neat and anti board wipe is good but i still rather rakdos charm over boros charm

I think I would want to put her in the 99 with a fair number of madness cards for support but put Chainer at the helm, include Balthor and old chainer as well, and go from there. that would still work as a fast combo and/or reanimator theme deck and adding a little bit of thievery to spice things up
Oliver Passemard I like this thinking and also run RB Chainer, but my monoblack Chainer is it’s own deck and balthor is too one-shot for my liking lol
@@joshnelson8125 That's just why I like Balthor, especially in the 99 he can come out of nowhere and finish the game with Morality Shift and Gary. It's not a cheap exchange but by the time you need to close the game, making big mana is not a problem.
There's Falkenrath Gorger as a 1 drop which makes every vampire in hand and deck have Madness if you can chew through your deck/tutor for it. This allows you to use a more vampire focused deck, like Olivia Voldaren and other strong vamps in red and/or black and be constantly untapping Anje with discards of stronger creatures worth casting.
Anje it's the best deck. It was so nice to met you in Vegas. a Big hug from Chile.

I didn't plan on making a competitive deck around Anje until I played her, remembered the Worldgorger infinite mana combo, realized how well she works as part of that combo, and just had to put that deck together. She is actually pretty dang competitive in the right build.
Yeah, I realized how solid worldgorger would be with her a few weeks ago and now I'm sure I'll be accused of netdecking when I go play her tomorrow even though I've had the cards ready for a few weeks
Megaman915 same here. At this point I don't get points for originality. That sucks, but at least I know I came up with it. It just so happens a lot of other people did too.

I would advise against going combo with her in most scenarios. I built a Worldgorger combo build the day the decks came out. Won two FMN commander pods on turn 4 and 5. It gets very old very quick. I have since made it a value reanimater deck and its wayyyy more fun!
I love the flavor of the Filth and Urborg synergy.
I love this deck. Played it with just minimal changes and I think the deck plays great. It feels totally fair in casual tables, but can br built to be really competitive. I wouldnt want to pull her out at a table full of 8 power level decks, but its a ton of fun to play at other tables.
DJ! Thank you so much for the awesome look into your twisted brewery of a mind! Your enthusiasm reminds me of the excitement I feel when brewing the possibilities of a commander that really inspires me. Lately, this and pramikon have been super exciting and I wish you all the success you deserve.

I enjoy the deck but always have trouble due to scarab God. My friend in the playgroup runs a pretty fast and effective scarab God runs a lot of zombies. Its frustrating cuz I have yarok, anje, k'rrk, atraxa and plenty of others but it's annoying when he uses my own graveyard against me. Scarab is so OP in my opinion. Not a huge fan of infinity instant win combos but let's say I did and put walking ballista in my GY he could reanimate at instant speed and exile my copy which ruins the combo. Any advice
Run some graveyard hate. Grafdigger cage, tormods crypt, tons stuff available.

My Anje deck loves Alhammarets Archive.
As cool and fast as the Anje WGD combo deck is, pulling the trigger on that combo at a competitive table has to be pretty scary. Any kind of instant speed interaction hoses you pretty hard - killing or bouncing WGD at the right time leaves you with all your permanents in exile - and it's pretty hard to protect your combo without blue. Probably the most all-in of combo strategies.
Chibichanga fork and redirect spells like Wild Ricochet are your only real defense against that kind of targeted removal

How about a Hellbent deck with Ensnaring bridge and some combo as a finisher? :D
I've put together my own Anje Falkenrath deck and it focuses on getting out Maralen of the Mornsong and Stranglehold to lock opponents out of their library

Immortal Coil/Demonic Pact + Harmless Offering/Bazaar Trader + Any remove graveyard spell (eg Nihil Spellbomb/Bojuka Bog) is a fun thing to do :D
Embodiment will be a pain in the ass to evaluate its power when it etbs. Brrr.
At 9:15 when you're talking about using tutors to find the game winning card- if you have Anje out when you pop off the WGD combo, she reenters the battlefield untapped and with haste, so you can just mill through your whole deck to find Exsanguinate or whatever you need :)

I see why you think Anje is that good, and I do agree that she is very good for the reasons that you mentioned, however without Anje I would imagine the deck has a hard time since almost half of the deck is bad madness cards. Competitive decks are definitelly not for me. I'm surprised that you didn't mention that one black legendary dwarf that brings back all black and red creatures by exiling itself and paying bbb!

How do you exactly go throu you deck if you fast pile you hand with lands and make commander stuck and dont untap?
Ivan Saliuk you can really run a very low land count with this deck. You don’t need much once you get your commander out. Strategic mulligans for that land.
Made an reanimator deck combo with anje and winning turn 4 or 5's consistently. Vilis + k'rik + skirge familiar + bone miser = almost infinite mana, then just try to kill them with like a fireball effect spell (i use torment of hailfire)
I play the anje deck since 6 month on cedh niveau and its awesome and so much fun. Thanks for this great video.
i just keep running into this issue in local edh groups where i sit down at a pod on 'casual' knights and i don't really get to try anything new because someone inevitably busts out this mono-colour monstrosity that goes infinite on turn 3. Like people were bringing those decks to the precon releases last month to basically just bully kids who just opened the new decks to try and play magic? idk our edh scene is huge in Toronto but it runs nothing but 8-10 PL decks so 'starting out' in this scene or playing new decks is always really exhausting. I just get bummed out whenever I watch these deck tech videos now lmao, ah well

Im trying to make a deck with Anje that makes my opponents lose life when they discard a card and play things like Sire of Insanity, liliana's caress, and those types of cards. Would that be a good idea?
B97gamer Gaming hey man, I made a deck built somewhat like this, but it’s nekuzar the mind razor (grixis colors) its a wheels theme. Making every draw cards and discard cards and opponents lose life drawing cards and discarding cards. I’ve found that having players discard their hand early when they have no drawing effect tend to work in my favor yes but drags the game out pretty long. If your interested I can give you the name Red/black cards I use. And see what you want to do.
My idea with Anje is to find affects that trigger if I discard a card. Cause I’ll be discarding a lot with her might as well try and find triggered affect the benefit off me doing so.

I was thinking with cards like (under the floorboards, zombie infestation, over seer of the damned and bone miser) already in the deck adding cards like field of the dead in place of a regular "tap for mana" or cryptbreaker for easy discard token creation would make cards like warstorm surge very valuable. late game dark salvation blows cards like violent eruption out of the water tbh.
theres a lot of potential in this deck to build a token generator while still discarding and drawing cards for your win condition.

I was fond of the Library of Leng + Psychosis Crawler combo.
That doesn't work. Library of Leng only triggers if it is an effect to cause the discard, but the discard on Anje is a cost.

Still building my pramikon deck (just down to sifting out the last ~10 cards to finalize it) but this was the next commander I wanted to tackle. I was thinking of taking her into a “everyone discards” direction where I limit my opponent’s hands while drawing power from discards.
how can you cast the ribbon, at sorcery speed you wouldn't be able to cast it on the stack with infinite mana

Someone plz explain the worldgorger combo to me? Don't really get it..
-worldgorger in graveyard
-add as much mana as posible with all your lands
-revive it with one of the given 3
-worldgorger comes back but removes everything due to the Etb
-worldgorger dies because reanimator enchantment got exiled
-reanimator enchantment and lands come back (Edit: everything exiled comes back)
-start over from step 2
you'll have infinite mana (and lootings with anja) and will be able to shoot your X cmc spell and kill everybody on the table except yourself
The competitive version of the Anje deck also has to have some kind of effect like Reverberate or Fork in order to combat counter spells. They wait for you to get to the end of your combo, drop a pact of negation on your Ribbons, and then you're gassed and are going to lose the game. Keep reverberate in hand while you're cycling through your deck and you have an answer to the counter.
Besides Ribbons, there's Exanguinate and Avacyn's Judgement.
I'm thinking madness and vampires tribal for my first try. Got to think a bit about it.
Why do you think she is more competitive than Elsha of the Infinite
Maybe for speed, elsha first need mana to start the storm, need to set up for her. Anje can come turn 1 or 2, and with good madness drawing can combo at next turn.
In order for you to cast a sorcery, you have to have finally resolved all effects, no? So, with the World Gorger loop, what "state" will your board be in when you cast the sorcery?
you can always exit the loop by targeting another creature with animate daed/necromancy... so you must ALWAYS have something else in the bin or some instant speed x spell (like comet storm)

Had that two days ago in a game. One of my opponents had it in his opening hand so hé could cast it for free. He won the game and i finished 2nd out of 4 having him at two life. Even without a graveyard it did pretty Good!

It's so funny you posted this video today, since I just finished my version of Anje yesterday. I decided to add a package of cycling creatures to churn through the deck faster before brining them all back with with Living Death or Twilight's Call, similar to the Living End deck in modern. It kills with either brining back Gary or Flayer of the Hatebound, the later of which can constantly deal upwards of 40 damage in the mid-game. It has the worldgorger combo in there too, just in case. But great video!
Can you explain what you do with these cards?
Well, the short answer is create an instant board and possibly win the game on the spot. The way that happens is as follows: Use Anje as DJ says, dumping every madness card into your graveyard. Note that some of them are creatures. Also use creatures with cycling like Street Wraith and Desert Cerodon to dig deeper into your deck, putting them into your graveyard. Then either discard Gray Merchant of Asphodel or Flayer of the Hatebound. Then cast a spell like Twilight's Call, which returns all the creatures from your graveyard to the battlefield at the same time. This should hopefully be after you have around 20 creatures in your graveyard, which is easier than it sounds. When Gray Merchant of Asphodel enters the battlefield, its ETB effect triggers, which causes your opponents to each loose life equal to your devotion to black, and you gain that much life. Flayer of the Hatebound will also trigger a bunch of times: It has whenever a creature you control enters the battlefield from your graveyard, it deals damage equal to its power to any target. When you go for this big swing turn, you should aim to have a devotion of around 15-18 or a combined power of around 40 among creatures in your graveyard. And after all the fireworks, you have a battlefield full of creatures. Its just fun.

Wouldn't animate dead fizzle because it technically isn't being cast when it returns to the field? So you can't target something?
Sterling Swart no it doesn’t care whatsoever about being cast, it’s more specifically changing its text from “enchant a creature in a graveyard” to “enchant creature put onto the battlefield with Animate Dead,” so these flicker type shenanigans can happen, see Kederekt Leviathan to have a soft lock on nonland permanents.

I'm super confused at the Worldgorger interaction...
Lets say you have the dragon in the graveyard.
Cast animate dead/dance of the dead/necromancy to bring it back. It enters and exiles every permanent you control besides itself. When the enchantment you reanimated the dragon with falls off the dragon instantly dies, bringing back every permanent you own untapped. When the enchantment that was reanimating the dragon comes back, you bring the dragon back to the battlefield again and the loop begins, netting you infinite mana and ETB effects from the dragon.
That is absolutely disgusting. Buying it now.

I mean yeah she is good being a low drop, can be used right away, go through your deck, and allow you to play madness cards at instant speed, most of the Madness cards aren't that good. I'm curious to see what you have to say about this commander! You have my attention!

I knew she would be good when I first saw her since she is a low drop that can be used right away, goes through your deck easily, and fills your graveyard. However, without Anje I would think the deck doesn't function since almost half of your deck are bad madness cards.
XenoSmasher you’re correct. She is key. It’s a glass cannon really. If your opponents can time some interaction correctly the deck can fall flat. The most important thing is to move fast lol

There are only one or 2 of the madness cards that you would actually cast. Most of them you are using them just to untap anje. The most common is to t2-3 anje and then cycle through the deck until you hit worldgorger + animate dead. The deck is super glass cannon but if they dont have an answer they are dead.

Front of the box, ok. They are pretty narrow. Although there is a good three or four takes in Ghirad that I like from Legendary Creatures Podcats you should check out. Otherwise Atla has some fun ways to go to manipulate your library. If you like Voltron and combat tricks then I suggest Greven who is a lot of fun. If you are a social player who likes to do wierd and neat things then Promikon will protect your board for the most part while you set out to do whatever your heart desires.
What if the worldgorger dragon is killed after being reanimated?
Umberto Andrè before its ETB triggers, you mean? If so, the Leaves the Battlefield trigger goes on the stack above the ETB, meaning your stuff all comes back but then everything goes away again leaving you with nothing

Umberto Andrè it ultimately depends on many factors. If your opponents are tapped out and don’t have enough resources to survive a Pact if Negation, there’s also always Force of Will. Plus if there’s mana there’s possibly Narset’s Reversal, Twincast/Fork... you need to make sure you’re assessing the board. But, if you can manage a turn 2 Animate Dead (following a t1 entomb Of Worldgorger and no disruption plus somehow one more discarded creature to break the loop), you might be okay depending also on how far into their decks your opponents have gotten through draw or tutors.
Early enough it’s not a prolific setback to have your stuff go away, especially if you have cards in hand, but it’ll still often get you in cEDH. I’d say filling your deck with madness crap just to remove it all in what equates to mid game (at t3, in cEDH) feels like a bad strategy anyway.
I’ve seen cEDH tournaments firsthand and they can win t2 or sooner with godly hands. A lot of people are running strong things like partners. Anje doesn’t feel like it’ll compete this way, though Anje herself seems reasonably sound. This glass cannon is too unreliable though. I don’t recommend it for the subformat

It makes it a ton of fun to run blue and counter them out of the game lol
Winning the next game on 3 or 4 to an infinite combo. Or countering the initial infinite combo so their resources are gone.

In normal edh: not much. In cedh: all the interaction around getting there and trying to win/stop the win. I'd say that a cedh game has more mtg in less turns. But there is a large difference that I can understand disliking. Also cedh is only fun VS cedh not vs "regular" decks
If you have cheap interaction in your deck (you should) like swords to plowshares or into the roil, even an instant speed kill spell like slaughter pact would work, you can disrupt this combo. Does it sound fun to watch someone try to combo with worldgorger dragon like the dirty combo player they are, only to have their WGD bounced or exiled at instant speed and have to rebuild their board from nothing since all their permanents are in exile? Sounds fun to me.

I disagree. Elsha of the Infinite can win in response to a removal for her by casting from top of your deck. Storm off in an artifact and ritual storm build and slam someone with aetherflux reservoir.

Yea by the time you even cast Elsha you’re probably going to lose to Anje in a Cedh environment. 3 cmc in 2 colors vs 5 cmc in 3 colors is a massive difference.
The most competitive is Elsha. Rakdos sucks on a competitive environment.

@@determinedcake1575 Rakdos sucking can be debatable, but in terms of the most competitive commander in c19, it's elsha hands down. Anyone with the slightest idea of interaction and game mechanics within mtg would know that.
Exile, kill or bounce worldgorger dragon with it's etb on the stack ;)
Christopher T. You can also use use Anje to discard creatures into your graveyard so you have a different target for reanimated. It'll stop the cycle and let you use all that mana on something other than an instant
@@Aldrnari956 the enchantment would be on the dragon with the ETB trigger on the stack...remove dragon and the leave the battlefield trigger resolves first giving back nothing and exiling everything they have on field including the enchantment it will already be on the dragon and can't change targets
