I was on an 8 day cruise on a Carnival Ship last month and had a guy stalking and threatening me for multiple days, Many crew members witnessed it on multiple occasions. One incident was actually witnessed by security walking by. Security did nothing to protect me. I called home to tell my family about the situation so that if I mysteriously came up missing they would know what events had transpired. Eventually I decided to stay in my cabin for the remaining 4 days to ensure my safety because it was obvious that I was on my own and vulnerable. Carnival will not protect you, please believe.
I used to work for Princess Cruises, which was then bought out by Carnival. I was sent to a Carnival ship and luckily was transferred to Australia after 3 and a half weeks. In my 6 years working on the cruise ships, that was the absolute worst month I worked. I gladly stuck to Princess ships, then onto Holland America. My take was this; Holland America was geared towards older passengers. Never had any problems. Princess Cruises seemed to be geared towards the late 30's crowd and up. Carnival seemed to be full of younger, problematic people. I never really had any issues on any ships, but those 3 and a half weeks on Carnival provided me with more problems than I could ever imagine. I have been off the ships now for 11 years, but if I were to go on a cruise, I would certainly choose Princess or Holland America.

you cant touch a teenager MINOR in this f'd up world today. they would be arrested & then sued. the ships security however should have restrained them until the local police could pick them up & charged with assault. but dont blame the civilians. they're stuck between a rock & hard place.
We were on cruise many times but only 1 accident ( one couple did not respect some passengers) next port they ( kick them) let them go out from the ship and they have to fly home on there OWN expensive We (all ship ) were very happy That was 11 days cruise we told them goodbye on 3rd or 4th day That was AWESOME captain decision
DAVID P Coming from someone who's gained much of his Gold Card status from 5 day and under cruises on Carnival (most recent last Dec), I can attest that only 25% of all the people I saw were trailer park type people. Don't make assumptions.
FuchsiaMuffin carnival is a GREAT cruise line. Been on two and loved both of them! it's a party ship, and not for everyone. I've never had a problem with carnival.
CountryGirlxoxo i went on a carnival cruise when as a kid. i had barely any freedom and it was hella boring. as if royal Caribbean i had a lot of freedom and it was fun!! a lot of choices and food! i met so many great people and i continue to chat with them today! i had no problems! even though i was a teenager i had access to a loyality program and i am a gold member under the program. carnival is just very cheap imo and its a value "cruise".
That kid and his parents would have had a rude awakening if I was on that ship if you have parents can't take care of your own child and they're misbehaving you better get ready to get your kids control by someone else
In a perfect world… maybe. The truth is not one crew member gives a rat’s a$$ what happens to any passenger unless it impedes on their tips received. Security just wants to dissipate the trouble makers hoping everything fizzles down and everyone is quiet the next day. The captain could not care less unless it’s going to the media. What a joke.
The parents' faces should be plastered all over this newscast. You make'em, then you raise'm. Take responsibility parents. Accountability and consequences should be for both the teens and parents.
Sheesh. I remember that on my second cruise on Royal's Liberty of the Seas security came and reminded everyone on the first day that there was a strike system. 1: you get reprimanded or essentially a warning. 2: you get curfewed and if you're not back by a certain time 3: you are confined to your room with security outside the door 24/7 for the rest of the cruise. These kids would have gone straight to three. While I didn't see anyone get there I did hear about one person... Royal doesn't mess around.
Its really not bad. This was an isolated incident. I remember my very first cruise there was a fight in the hall way. This was in 1998. Ive been on 14 cruises since then and I haven't had any issues. Keep in mind not all of my cruises have been on Carnival. As a matter of fact the first cruise was on the Premiere Cruise line. They were bought and sold a few years later.
I am questioning the parents of these teens, and why they brought them on the cruise ship or allowed them to go at all? Where were the parents while this was going on?
they don't care, they are doing their own thing and leaving the kids to run wild. In the casino, it was the parents giving the 5-6 year old kids the rolls of quarters to play the slots while the parents drank and played other casino games
You're shocked that something trashy happened when you decided to take a trashy vacation?? "A carnival cruise is basically a floating Walmart!" -D.Tosh
Been on 10 carnival cruises never an issue..the parents are to blame not the cruise ..I mean seriously they were kids traveling with adults who needed to be bitch slapped along with the kids..poor people can’t afford cruises so it’s something that is very very rare like a plane crash You’re more likely to encounter the kids like this in a neighborhood on a daily basis then on a cruise ship
They are repairing there ships like the vista it’s probably 5-6 years old and it got dry docked this year and are you saying the people who cruise on them are poor
Not exactly a cruise, but more of an overnight short hop ferry. We had the same trouble with a rowdy group of early 20 somethings drinking and laughing in the corridors of the sleeping cabins. Back in those days there were 'couchettes' in part of the common area that were brought out late in the evening to make cheaper accommodations. They were later dropped due to the _class_ of people that tended to use them!
My late Mom would have asked, "where were the parents?"....Also, she could tell you, that in most cases, it all starts from the cradle. I concur with her on that! My Mom ought to to have known, as she had 10 children...lol ; )
Yes, on the longer (7 day) cruises, bans of roving teens start to form. They become more disrespectful towards the staff as the cruise progresses. I'm sure if the cruise was any longer, problems would escalate.
I've been on 2 Carnival Cruises and I can truly say that I don't remember ever seeing anyone younger than 21 on both cruises that I went on with my wife, so we had a wonderful time and there was no drama..
If someone touched my girl in an unacceptable fashion they would be in the ship hospital. It is called self defense. Someone needs to slap the kids parents for raising them like that...
This couple seem like they can probably read and write, use eating utensils, and chew with their mouths closed. They definitely went against the grain when they went on a Carnival cruise.
+Mikel Reynolds half the price of WHAT ticket?!?! have you ever been on a cruise? do you know the ACTUALLY costs? if you did you would know that when a cruise advertises a price for $299 I hope you KNOW it's really NOT the price. add in taxes, unwanted upgrade costs, gratuity PER PERSON (typical 4 person cruise) that's already $300+ alone on thag, PLUS TIPS, soda card PER PERSON $40 per person another $160, and the list goes on...
I get what you're saying but you cannot add soda packages as a ticket costs. I'd say gov't taxes and port taxes etc is valid as an argument here but not "unwanted upgrade costs". What is that? Them forcing you a suite or what?
My family went through this very same problem with Carnival Cruise Line, but with out the violence. Running up and down the corridors yelling bagging on doors hitting and kicking the walls. Verbally abusing passengers. This continued throughout the cruise, and not one Carnival Official would deal with these various issues. This went on day and night more specifically at night. These teens were drunk and under age. I will never go on a Carnival Cruise again. Apparently this company has not changed its indifference concerning unusually difficult passengers.
@Paul Smith you know what Paul LOL I literally never thought of it like that 😂 but you are 100% correct. So what about Norwegian I’ve never been but I’ve never been interested in that cruise line. It just seems....like no thank you 😭
I've witnessed this often on every single cruise I've been on. The last one was crazy, it was around 10 p.m. and these teens got upset because a group of elderly people wouldn't move their domino game from the corner in which they had been for over 4 hours playing dominos and started pushing the elderly around and knocked over their game. My husband went over to protect the older people because the teens started knocking their hats off, I called security and the kids were gone before security arrived. Later we saw the elderly couples and they said that security took their account but to their knowledge nothing was done.
Apparently Carnival Cruise line’s security is non existent. Plus the offer of $109 compensation doesn’t come close to actually compensating passengers for the harm and danger they experienced on board.
The parents were probably out drinking and holding onto chairs at the pool...Go on cruise critic and check out how these lazy selfish parents leave their kids for the crew to watch...
How embarrassed that poor girl must be watching a child beat up her " man". She later asks "who's going to protect us?" ... Clearly not your boyfriend! Lol
Carnival is the worst cruise line out there. So many similar incidents have been reported over the years. Why anyone would still cruise with them is truly amazing. The parents of these thugs should be arrested and jailed along with the rabble teen thugs. I'm 84 and personally if this was done to my wife that kid would not be safe anywhere on that ship regardless of the repercussions.
If he fought back , he would be beaten to death, but worse, if he got the better of the “teen”, he would be labeled a “racist” and his life would be ruined.
With all the craziness that happens on their ships - like the Costa Concordia disaster and a number of other incidents I'm amazed they aren't bankrupt already
i used to work for carnaval cruise lines out of Miami and i have a whole heap of stories that i could tell you about their operations. i worked on the MS HOLIDAY and the TSS FESTIVALE in 1988 to 1999. some really bad things happened to passengers and crew members
When cruise ships "investigate" that means they will wait and see what happens and continuing to investigate until the storm blows over and the ship goes to another port.

Free cruise or refund for those harassed/assaulted, training for security, ban those who were assaulting people and stealing, free cruises for police to keep things safe...,
This is quite common on Carnival ships it's part of the Family Fun feel that Carnival actually encourages especially on their older ships that's why I don't cruise on Carnival anymore they used to be a great company and had a great reputation but now they just like to cut Corners wherever they can they have low security on these ships they do not enforce rules they encourage the parents to get drunk and intoxicated while their kids are left alone wandering around the ship and worst yet being served alcohol themselves either directly from the staff or they conveniently find a passenger to buy them their alcohol for them even though the cruise line is aware of this they put up with it unlike other Cruise companies that have much more stricter policies and guidelines only recently has Carnival started to take action concerning the chaos on board. And that's only because they've been sued multiple times literally kids being found overboard kid being found dead in swimming pools kids being found dead in bars girls being raped girls being taken down by crew bevers to the crew Quarters and raped or fondled taken advantage of the sad thing when Carnival gets rid of these employees does not have them arrested and no charges were brought against them buy the company unless the passenger were actually caught in the act by a fellow passenger. Carnival Corporation will discreetly let the passenger or crew member involved off at the nearest port usually what happens if it's a crew member they just get a job on another Cruise Line because there is no report filed. Nor do they do real good background checks on a lot of their employees have started recently just prior to covid-19 cracking down on their ships in their fleets of subsidiary companies but the problem mainly lies with Carnival itself not so much its subsidiaries. The new ships that are being built like the Mardi Gras have actual teen centers in areas where the kids can hang out and even monitored by staff they also have teen discos in it and to keep the kids occupied without getting in trouble arnott allowed to visit the bars and make disruptions I've been on Carnival ships in the past where they have literally taken over the casino even my own mother was pushed down buy a herd of kids running and security did absolutely nothing. The kids would run around this ship at night you would find them sleeping in the hallway because the parents were in the room screwing and and being drunk that's what Carnival used to encourage how much alcohol can we push on our guest it was all about making money not the usual control you have on other Cruise Lines. But again Carnival is making progress and getting this Mater addressed more often. But if you don't have kids or you're not traveling with kids. I really wouldn't recommend taking a Carnival Cruise. And if you do have kids and you still want them to have fun and you have fun at the same time I highly recommend Royal Caribbean just my opinion just my thoughts enjoy cruising everyone.
Why do people go on cruises? Here is what you get on a cruise: Novovirus Teens attacking you, stealing your stuff. So much poor quality food you stuff your face with, that you get fatter and unhealthier. Every port you dock into is filled with GROSSLY overpriced boutique shops that sell tourist junk. Overpriced on board boutiques that sell you junk. Too little port time to see anything of value or spend quality time on the new place. Overpriced tiny cabins with no windows or even more overpriced cabins with a keyhole for a window. Sea sickness. Huge, HUGE damage to fish and oceans from the huge propellers of ship and waste dumped in ocean, and the noise terrifies the fish. If you scuba dive and a small boat passes overhead its a terrifying vibration, like an earthquake. Imagine these gigantic ships. Noise must be like a jet taking off. Its HORRIBLE underwater.

1: you get reprimanded or essentially a warning. 2: you get curfewed and if you're not back by a certain time 3: you are confined to your room with security outside the door 24/7 for the rest of the cruise.
