- Imagine paying big bucks for a dream vacation cruise and being subjected to construction site noises. Workers sanding the deck, power saws in the middle of the day and welding noises were just some of the racket cruise passengers had to endure. The cruise from hell happened on the Norwegian Sun, during a 15-day voyage that started in Miami and came to an end in Los Angeles. Passengers were so fed up they demanded to see the captain. #InsideEdition

Not advertising the cruise as a construction work in progress was malicious. Not like those people can just get their week of vacation back to try again.

That cruise line tried to screw the passengers over with the construction jobs and it looked line a repositioning cruise. They’re usually discounted to make as much money as possible. The welders should have blocked the view to the passengers cause if they look at the welding, it can cause serious eye damage.

I mean, they gave everyone a free trip. That is generally considered to be fair compensation so long as the free trip is redeemable within a reasonable time frame.

You charged your passengers to pay for your construction.

I've worked in cruise ships before. I've never in my life seen this much work being done on a ship that has customers on it. Whoever in NCL gave the clearance to perform all this work needs to be fired.

Normally I would make fun of people being over-the-top, or dramatic, but you’re on a ship in the middle the ocean, you’re kind of trapped there, and especially if they didn’t notify the passengers ahead of time. If I had to guess, I would say the ship was being moved to Los Angeles for more extensive renovations, and Norwegian decided they can make a quick buck by getting some of the work started ahead of time, but still booking passengers on board as well.

Its not a navy combat ship doesn't need work on it while sailing. All of that should have been done in Dry Dock.

On our very first cruise (a Princess seasonal transition cruise from Mexico to Alaska) my wife and I experienced the hell described in the video.
We boarded in Los Angeles and were excited to experience the joy of Cruising. Many of the passengers had settled in prior to departure and were lounging around an empty swimming discussing when the it would be filled for their enjoyment. As the ship pulled out to sea a demolition crew entered the pool area to commenced jack hammering it and removing the debris. I will never forget one young man who was asleep on one of the lounges woke up with a start and started screaming a screech that will never leave my mind. It was straight down hill from there. The ship was immersed in total maintenance.
Painting throughout, carpet etc. Just North of San Francisco the Pacific Ocean decided to add insult to injury. The deep swells and violent seas caused mass sea sickness to more than 60 % of the people on board including the Captain. My wife was so ill that she required an injection of ? to calm her vomiting. Our cabin was near the bow of the ship and I could literally levitate off of my bed when the bow fell into the trough.
After that experience, we avoided cruising for the next 25 years. When we did cruise it was on Crystal Cruise line to Alaska. Which was a pleasant experience. We avoid Princess like the plague. They did nothing for the passengers and blew off our complaints.
And to think my dad and I were going to go on this actual cruise but canceled last minute b/c of plans and stuff.

Polka Dot It is a crime scene, those people paid a large amount of money for a week of relaxation and didn’t get it, and that is a crime called theft. Also welding creates a fire hazard and should never be done with passengers aboard, endangering the lives of the passengers is also a crime.

Wow 😲 Im speechless I have been on Norwegian dozens of times and this is just unreal.That kind of work should be done in dry dock I’m waiting to see them start doing this on the Breakaway.Its going overseas to be overhauled in about two weeks and it’s going to take 10 days that is the time schedule.Do not be surprised if they don’t start before and on the way overseas.

+ReadyToGo once you're on there you don't have to spend a penny. Food, accommodation, travel, entertainment, etc is all included.

Reminds me of a horrible cruise holiday my family and I went on years ago. Their Sauna wasn't working, was covered in peeled paint, hair and dirt. Couldn't get into the restaurant because it was FULL, despite having booked a place previously before even getting on the ship, so we had to wait till 9:00pm to get a seat. Service very slow, waited a few hours before getting food that wasn't great. Hostile and rude staff members. One even lied about one of us getting physical (never happened) Because we kept complaining of the problems, they threatened to throw us off. No, we were not aggressive or demanding passengers. We have been on cruises before and never had problems like this until we ended up on that particular cruise. Guess there's always one.
