    CM Punk's time in All Elite Wrestling is surrounded by controversy. I chose not to talk deeply about it because I thought it was unnecessary. I think it's a shame how things went because there's alot he could've done in the company. What did you think of CM Punk's run?

    Say whatever you want about Punk, you can’t tell me that he doesn’t care about his fans. The day before the PPV on rampage, before the show, Punk randomly came out from the back side of the stage where wrestlers that lose their match usually walk out back through and was taking pictures with fans and had a line forming that he didn’t really expect to get big that fast and still stuck around and made sure he took a picture with everyone in line before the show started. He did that for FREE and when I went up to him and told him how much he meant to me growing up, he was nothing but kind and listening and would look at you in the eye. He told me how much he appreciated me for still being a fan and shook my hand. All while he was on crunch time getting though the line of ppl of a random meet and greet.
    Not everyone is a perfect person, all I can is that meeting him briefly was enough to show me a side of him that told me how much he actually cares about the fans. This is the same person that bought a whole sold out arena ice cream bars…again, something he never had to do. I’ve heard him even bringing donuts for fans at his meet & greets for comic con & exc.
    I think it’s easy to hate on Punk, I however think he’s a pretty stand up solid person at heart.

    If nothing else, his time showed in AEW that Punk will never be happy with his place. Even in a new company, even with one that was riding him as hard as AEW was and giving him the kind of experience he always claimed to want, he still found something to be pissed about and ended up as crabby and whiny as he was in WWE.
    And that's sad more than anything, so much optimism at the start...only for it to come crashing down.

    • @CornBreadtm1
      @CornBreadtm1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      He had pretty damn good reason to be pissed though. People kicking out on him at 3, going into business for themselves on live television and backstage politics being exposed on twitter by the management. He didn't interact with anyone in the companies much for 7 year, but when he got into the company everyone took shots at him like they had history. Outside of Kingston, Moxley and Sydell he really didn't have working history with a lot of people he was interacting with. So it's literally one-sided aggression.
      So no he wasn't crabby or whiny, he had legitimate reason to be upset since management wasn't handling any of the unprofessionalism well. And a lot of the management was actively causing the problems.

      @@CornBreadtm1 Ah yes, it was management's fault Punk decided to blast Colt Cabana at the conclusion of a PPV match with Moxley. It was Punk's fault that he took one promo from Hangman and decided to bury the company on this perceived slight. It was management's fault that Punk decided to punch people when he dared them to confront him and his buddy Ace bit someone.
      Punk got everything you could possibly want in AEW, but that wasn't enough. It was never gonna be enough. And if you are so utterly thinned skin you are willing to tank a career over this, maybe you didn't deserve this kind of public platform.

    • @CornBreadtm1
      @CornBreadtm1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It was the EVPs who blamed him for Colt Cobana being moved to RoH. So yeah it was management's fault. Cause they are management till Tony grows a pair and demotes them.
      And they ran into Punk's locker room, 6 people strong, so yeah he fought back. What is he suppose to do? Just get jumped?
      Stop hating on him for 0 reason when he wasn't the aggressor in anything that happened. He didn't do anything to Colt Cobana, Tony hadn't used the guy since Brodie Lee died. Of course he was on the cut list. Punk didn't go on twitter and blame himself for Colt Cobana being fired, the EVPS did, they also got Colt a job on a dead promotion. And Punk didn't go into the EVPs locker room with a mob and start a fight!
      You're blaming the guy for defending himself. Which is the weakest argument in the world. Is he really thin skinned for speaking up for himself? Instead of just being bashed endlessly for months.

      @denniswilliams6519 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@CornBreadtm1 They were not there to hit Punk. The Young Bucks even had a lawyer with them and they only came there because Punch decided to publicly shit on them and Colt Cabana (Including revealing personal account info on his former friend) while daring them to say something to his face if they had a problem with it. They did, and Punk decided to throw punches and Ace bite people. Hell biggest thing Omega is guilty of is trying to save a cat caught in all this.
      The fact you think this behavior is okay because Punch got salty over a promo is the most pathetic kind of hill to die on. Punk's entire career has been shooting on people and going into business for himself, but when that is used on him suddenly it becomes too much?

We also hoped this would be a new CM Punk in the sense that he’d be putting over new talent, be a coach to future wrestlers and be absolutely changed in attitude. But a year later, it’s like we were back in 2011-2014, where he was all this and all that, so much complaining and creating controversy from left and right, and it broke me. He was supposed to be different, yet it’s like nothing changed. People call Punk a narcissist, but hearing the backstage stories about him, I just think he is self righteous and way overly sensitive. It's obvious that wrestling is his life, and I would argue he loves it more than anyone else in the locker room. The problem is he sees the business his way, and every time he sees something he doesn't like, even what doesn't involve him, he takes it personally, and eventually he just starts exploding on everyone.
    In this case, it wasn't like he was upset with his own push. He was champion and focal point when he wasn't hurt. He was mad because his vision of what wrestling should be didn't align with the Elite, and he tried to help the young guys, and the Elite thought he was sabotaging their influence, which led to the All Out debacle.
    I side with Punk here, I think he was technically in the right. But he handled it so poorly that I sympathize with Tony trying to buy out his contract.

    AEW needs to learn that not ever feud needs reality based shoot promos. The Kingston feud with Punk was the start of the eventual downfall. It set a horrible blue print for CM Punk feuds where every who feuded with Punk after that had shoot promos with him to build their matches to add to the story.
    But the MJF or Hangman feud did not need those hard hitting promos they could have built amazing storylines with kayfabe lore.
    All these shoot promos did nothing but lead to resentment between the wrestlers. Pro Wrestlers are larger than life all have them have egos which they should have upto a certain extent to perform in front of so many people. But once these shoot promos start the resentment between wrestlers leads to more hate between due to the slight digs at their egos. It all builds up and leads to something stupid like brawl out. I am not saying Punk is not at fault but i don't think when he returned to wrestling this what he wanted

      @@jacobtrimble4329 I think Kingston MJF and Punk did not need those shoot promos. They are talented enough to build a story without making irl digs at each other. I know that it is kinda their thing but tbh they don't need to do that. Their feuds would work great even without the shoot stuff. Both MJF and Kingston had kayfabe history with Punk which could be used in a tasteful way to build a story without insulting each other with irl jabs each and every chance they get

    I still feel that it is all a work. I feel this way for a couple of reasons. Why after winning the belt go into a presser deliver the intro promo he did, answered the questions the way he did, took the heat he did back into the locker room where the EVPs of the company broke the door down to confront Punk? Is there any footage of the locker room confrontation? Sure you could say that the lack of video is evidence that it was a shoot. This is what went down, Punk went into business for himself, talked shit about The Elite, and is not only persona non grata in the locker room but in AEW period. This could be true...there is reports of Punk not getting over with the boys and upper management through out his career, but here is my counter. It was a "backstage skirmish" that left property damage and someone getting punched, why an investigation? It's a new era in regards to what happens in the locker room stays in the locker room. Stories about locker room fights are out there and none of them included an investigation. If this was Tony Khans idea of getting resolution to a what seems to be a three on one scuffle then he just made his promotion look weak as fuck if they can't police themselves. CM Punk was injured and his foot or whatever needed time. They found time. Suspend him during the investigation. What really seems the most obvious proof this is a work is The Elite were suspended as well. How do Executive Vice Presidents get suspended in their own organization? The spotlight since the beginning was that Kenny Omega, The Youngbucks, and Cody Rhodes were the cornerstones of the company backed by Tony Khans money and the fact he is a mark...I mean fan. So sure I can see the confrontation happening and it all play out but suspending all involved including all your EVPs(except for Cody of course...he's back in WWE)? It all just doesn't make sense. I could be wrong but this is what happens after being a fan of pro wrestling for as long as I have...DTA

Now look, people have stepped up, Mox healed really well and put on some great stuff for AEW , Colt is relevant again, Jericho, Danielson, Mox, MJF and a few others have stepped up to help and not go into business for themselves.
