Nah there was something about her eyes that showed her seething rage. Her face was genuinely expressionless other than her earlier body language. She was waiting to see if she did more than the bath, because if she did more, it might as well be the vet and she needed to let her know she's not about to do anything else to her.
@@Thenamaree I wonder if it's the towelling and brushing that she just doesn't enjoy. My little 6 month old is like that - loves water and as a result loves showers, even enjoys soaking his face. But as soon as the towel appears, the hissing, swatting and biting starts. But if you stop trying to dry and brush him he'll be back to his chill and playful happy self again. It makes me wonder if their skin just feels particularly sensitive after the bath. He doesn't hate towels or brushing when he's not been bathed.

@@nckojita That's good lol, my little guy is 100% a biter, although my hands are beneath the towel so he really is just trying to kill the towel. In fairness to him, he has malocclusion of his teeth and one canine is poking a hole in his gums and causing inflammation so I think his poor mouth is hurting him. (We haven't been able to treat it yet because he's been poorly with other things and also needs a cardiac scan - which we're doing tomorrow.)

They call them 'doll-face' Persians, They are one of the old traditional varieties and are pretty healthy. The super flat face with bulging eyes is a recent trend and not how Persians used to look.

The breed standard does include health considerations and does not accept cats with bulging eyes, too-narrow noses, concave faces, etc. If you attend a cat show, one of the things judges do is use a cat toy and a scratching post to entice the cat to play and show how they can move and stretch. A Persian cat that can’t do that, or can’t breathe properly while doing that, gets disqualified and is not recommended for breeding. There’s a huge issue with buyers not doing their due diligence when finding a breeder. It’s not enough for a breeder to just have the CFA or TICA label; there’s more questions you have to ask before committing to one.

I had a persian who looked almost exactly like Angela. My sweet girl live to almost 19 years old. Her groomers all told me that she had a very definitive time limit. She would be cool until the moment she wasn't cool and then she was absolutely done. Miss my baby

I had one as a child that looked just like this one, named Angela too. She groomed herself all the time but somehow always ended up dirty and matted anyway. While the other kids spent Saturday watching cartoons, I was doing kitty maintenance. She slept under the covers with me every night.
As a former vet assistant who gave a couple of cats baths, I really salute all your work for all your animal friends! (even if the animals don't think they're your friends)

My thoughts exactly! Breeding flat faced cats and dogs is just cruel and should be stopped. Also, a sister of a friend is a vet assistant. Her words? "When an owner of a cat says that they are friendly with vets, it's always best not to believe them"! I've seen her with far more cat injuries than dog ones!. I just think they are more flexible and get their teeth towards you very quickly- as Angela shows!

the flat face came in the 40s, they were bred for show cats. thats what ruined the breeds health. the original persians dint have flat faces, and they are breeding back the traditional or doll face persians

This is exactly how my 6 month old cat is. He loves water so he enjoys the bathing part. As soon as the towel part begins, the hissing, swatting and biting starts. He had diarrhoea for a month so we unfortunately had a fair few showers when things got too grim to be solved with wet wipes. He's so chill for the shower you'd think "oh we can do this every day" but so angry for the towel drying part that you never want to give him a shower again...
Cats can't be diagnosed with autism but some are very sensitive to certain kinds of stimulation. That kitty began to react badly when you used the noisy water hose which sounds like hissing and it went from there with the hiss of the blow drier and noisy hair brush as opposed to the comb. I suspect that she has sound sensitivity. I do too. I have to wear a noise cancelling headset or ear plugs everywhere while I'm awake and asleep to partially deafen myself or it triggers my physical nerves (fibromyalgia) and can make me very anxious and irritable to be around loud or repetitive noises. I know it sounds silly but it messes with me a little to hear the sounds in your videos and this cat's reactions were timed with mine. I seem to be having a bad day.
I have fibromyalgia too. I had to get noise cancelling headset last year to stop the anxiety from the noise of the construction on a new apartment building across the street. I love the weekends, not a single worker in sight. That building started right as the renovation on our building finished. That was bad enough. Even my kitty developed anxiety about strangers. He tries to hiss and swat my legs to get me away from the door whenever I get any type of delivery. He didn't used to be that aggressive before they started our renovation work. He would just run and hide mostly.
It's so funny when the bubble starts to fog from all the hissing! I wonder if Angela was generally cool with the bath and dryer because it was warm, but the brush tugs on her fur.

🤣 I’m sorry, I have to laugh. I have seen that “mad face” too many times from my own cats. That definitely makes me stop and let them go. Usually it’s when clipping claws, but the long hair one gets that when I find a mat during brushing. It definitely means that I am at least going to get clawed and if I continue the teeth will be utilized. 💕

🤣 I’m sorry, I have to laugh. I have seen that “mad face” too many times from my own cats. That definitely makes me stop and let them go. Usually it’s when clipping claws, but the long hair one gets that when I find a mat during brushing. It definitely means that I am at least going to get clawed and if I continue the teeth will be utilized. 💕
