  • In this video I create some large 14” x 17” prints using a kit from Jacquard and a wet cyanotype method. I am very new to this technique but wanted to share how fun it is to do.
    This is the Jacquard kit I used: Jacquard Cyanotype Sensitizer Set a.co/d/eo6kLmq
    CLARIFICATION REGARDING USING METAL: I believe it is when painting on the mixed solution that it is best not to use anything with metal parts but once dry, I believe that metal items can be placed onto the surface to create prints (using there shadow). I am not certain what would happen if metal items are place on a wet cyanotype surface.
    ADDITIONAL CORRECTION: I believe the Hydrogen peroxide dilution recommended was 50mL in 1 L of water. I wasn’t super precise when adding mine.
    Here is the link to my video showing the lamp i made with one of these prints: Cyanotype Lamp for #makerscreativecollab

Oh how I loved watching the colour change, and the movement when you added the soap and thenDipped it and instead of going dull it became the most amazing blue colour. Wow magic ! it’s how they made blueprints ! ? this is all so interesting, what amazing results. Wonderful to see how you created the lampshade thank you so much for sharing.

      They do sell premade sheets that you could cut smaller and can set out in the sun. You still have to wash them afterwards but if paper is small enough, you could do this in the sink. The peroxide bath is just an optional step and they will turn darker blue over time without that step. Whatever you decide to do I know you will have fun, I just wanted to point out some options for you to consider. Thanks for watching Liz 💙

    I started by buying the raw chemicals from Bostwick and Sullivan...and a couple of other chemical supply houses. To mix the chems, I sartet with some YT formulae. It was difficult because the recopies shifted (internally) from English to metric and from solid weights to liquid measure with no regard to logic.
    When I finally worked it out, I had problems finding a suitable paper. The paper is not only a matter of surface texture but also absorption. The next issue was brush strokes. I want 0 but have not solved that one yet. It only took me a year to find the best useable density for transparent material inkjet negatives. I am looking to print photos; Urban scenes, architecture and nudes. Still working on it and it may be a while

    • @devonrex4
      @devonrex4  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I think lace could would. Probably if it was black lace you would get a better contrast but the white lace may give you some nice subtle details. Have fun Maxine, let me know how it goes. I hope to do another session next summer. 😄

      You fill them each up pretty much (from how I understood the directions). I used distilled water because it is my understanding that they can keep well for quite some time.
