    Nice guide, i've got four of them now. I've also got 2 rumble motor's on my pedals. These are also a 'must' have. As they actually let you feel when ABS kicks in. Easy to set up, not expensive if you have an old controller laying around.

    • @thevmediagroupgaming
      @thevmediagroupgaming  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To my knowledge, that isn't possible with this setup. Other setups I've seen for console seemingly just take the audio signal from the subwoofer channel of their audio device and use it for the shakers. So it might give you the elusion of a bass shaker setup, but since its using an audio channel and not telemetry data from an application like Sim Hub, it won't be as accurate.

    Hi.
    Great video, this is the best complete guide available.
    The shakers on the pedal box are just double taped? Do they hold on OK? The vertical position don't effect the performance?
    Do you really need a second sound card? I have read you can use a Y style splitter on the headphone source line or even the monitor AUX output if its available (HDMI or DP connection needed).
    Cannot wait for my shaker (only one for tests for now, will add at least a second one if all works fine) and amplifier to arrive :D

    • @thevmediagroupgaming
      @thevmediagroupgaming  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are a lot of questions here, but I’ll try to answer them. :) The shakers on the pedals were double sided taped on there. I have since removed them and put them underneath the platform. Vertical positioning doesn’t affect performance. You do need a second sound card so that you can drive your sound and shakers independently.

      I will try the double side tape on one of the side metal plates of my Playseat Evolution. If it feels weak i will try to mount it on the under seat padding. I have done a couple of test with my phone vibration (LOL) and on the padding its way more noticeable than on the playseat frame. I guess one of those, with 15W and connected to one 20W amplifier, have to be much stronger than one smartphone vibration, so it may be OK even on the frame.

    Curious, can you take advantage of using two shakers mounted vertically but at 90°, so you get left right and front back vibrations. Not sure if that app would let you use waveforms to bump you in a certain direction almost like a Gforce. If it pounded in one direction, rolled off and then hit again in succession.

    • @thevmediagroupgaming
      @thevmediagroupgaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't believe that is possible. That said, even if it was, I think the positioning with these small shakers to get that effect wouldn't be very good and it wouldn't really give you reliable/realistic feel.

    • @thevmediagroupgaming
      @thevmediagroupgaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It looks like the BT30D is 50 watts per channel, compared to the 18 watts on the Kinter amp. But the price is also much higher. So you get more power for your money but depending on your bass shakers, you don't want to accidentally overpower them. As long as you don't do that, they should be fine.

    hi there, i have two questions: 1) why is the sound card necessary? 2) I saw a post on reddit that has this same setup with this amp and 4 of the bass shakers. Is it possible to install 4 bass shakers into this one amp? Thanks!

    • @thevmediagroupgaming
      @thevmediagroupgaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      Two sound cards are needed so that one can play the game sound and so the other can drive the shakers. Using a single sound card with a splitter won't give the same effect. Technically you could likely hook up 4 shakers to a single amp. However, you won't be able to get detail from each corner as the amp is only 2 channels. So each pair of shakers would have the same signal. So you would want either two two channel amps or a single 4 channel amp to drive the shakers.

    • @thevmediagroupgaming

      A single jack will work assuming no other sound is running through it. However, since it's a single jack and not 3 (aka 5.1 surround) you're limited on what you can adjust since you don't have separate channels (center, front, rear).

      Keep me posted when you find out, I'd be curious as well. I usually take a DIY approach to my projects, and specifically in this case to save a bunch of money, but sometimes paying for a great product is better than a DIY project in the long run. I don't know that I could justify the cost since I don't race as much as I'd like to, but I'm still interested in the comparison.

      If you are using the same sound card (built in or not) for your PC sound as the shakers, you won't be able to tune the shakers independently of the game sound. That's the reason for a secondary sound card.

    If I buy 4 channels amplifier, can I add 4 shackers? Correct? Front left-right and rear left-right

    • @thevmediagroupgaming
      @thevmediagroupgaming  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really. It depends on the sound card more than the amp. For example, a 5.1 surround sound card gives you 6 channels. So when you plug your cable from the amp into one of the 3 jacks on the sound card (each jack containing a left/right channel) you effectively get two channels. So if you plug-in a 4 channel amp to a 2 channel output, the amp is going to use the same left and right output on two of the channels. Using your example, if you plugged your 4 channel amp into the front speaker jack on the sound card, you’d end up with two front left shakers and two front right shakers. In sim hub (or similar softwares), your controlling the channels on the sound card and not the amp, so there wouldn’t be a way to tell the amp otherwise.

    you mention needing a second sound card, is this the case too if i don't use my motherboard's and case front aux outputs?
    Also, there is a 16 ohm version of the shaker, which if i understand correctly should have more range?

    • @thevmediagroupgaming
      @thevmediagroupgaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The motherboard's built in sound (rear and front panel) are likely the same channels. So if you have a sound card that you are using for your game sound and want to use the motherboard for your shakers (or the other way around) you could definitely do that. In regard to the 8 vs 16 ohm shaker, I haven't done a bunch of digging on that, but I would assume that they will both be fairly similar in performance given the price.

    Whats the difference in shakiness between 8ihm or 16ohm for the transducers? Is the tape strong enough to keep tyhem attached on the surface?? Thx

    • @thevmediagroupgaming
      @thevmediagroupgaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest, I don't recall the difference between 8ohm and 16ohm other than. From what I do recall, is that it has to do with the difference in the way the wire is wound around the voice coil. That may or may not be true. The only thing that seems to be of consensus is that if you have an 8ohm speaker, you should have an 8ohm amp. Same goes for 16ohm. As for the tape, It is strong enough to keep them attached. While I removed the shakers from my pedal deck and move them to the front of the rig with screws, the rears are mounted with double-sided tape to the back of my fiberglass seat and they have been solid since day one. Just make sure to clean the surface with soap/water or rubbing alcohol first to make sure you get the best contact when you stick them on.
