How to Prevent ZF8HP70/75 "A" Clutch Failure

The "A" clutch in ZF8HP70 and ZF8HP75 transmissions has a thin, stamped OE backing plate that allows flexing and bowing (coning) of the clutch pack. This causes uneven clutch wear and excessive heat leading to clutch burnup.

Hi. Can this be causing the jerky downshifting from 3 to 2? All other gear shifting is okay, but 3-2 downshift is clunky and jerks forward, almost like gear is in neutral for 1 second before the gear engages and engine braking kicks in. 8HP70

Hi. When the BMW 320d or 320ied driving, all of them makes a hard movement to the front, the car shifts down from 3 to 2 while I am slowing down, and if I pump up just on the shifting or just little bit after the shifting it makes a hard movement , the engine speed highs up and then its shifts to 3 again. İts actually normal. But I think its disturbes the comfort of the drive. Do you have that experience? Thanks
