Me listening to my ten thousandth Mind Pump episode hoping the guys will reveal an effortless, magic pill solution when you know it’s gonna be high protein, unprocessed foods, weight training and sleep 🙃
Honestly, I like to listen to them talk every now and then to help remind to get back in the gym. After each kid I had or herniating a disc, they motivate me to pick that weight back up over the years.
The type of person talked about in the opening conversation was me. I had low self esteem and I hated my body so I exercised hard and ran a lot and at the end I never accomplished my goal so I gave up exercising for about 12 years. Now I am in a different place mentally and now I am exercising for my health .
I ran into some health issues a few years ago due to years of heavy alcohol consumption. I stopped thinking about weight loss and specific diets. In fact, I didn’t even weigh myself for over a year. I simply consumed real foods, eating for health and focusing on healing my organs. 130lbs melted away, and I was never hungry, always satiated.
Listening in home gym doing Anabolic Advanced. 👊 Great show! Love the info and the consistent reinforcement of the simple steps to take for better health.
I’ve followed y’all’s TH-cam page for almost 6 months now and I don’t believe I’ve heard any of you guys talk about women who had a gastric bypass or sleeve surgery and how they or she can lose weight.
Listened to the podcast and heard the mention of creatine, I forgot I hadn't taken my scoop of creatine today after my workout and immediately grabbed it. Good looking out guys lol
How much strength training is required to make a noteworthy impact on a metabolism? Being in a place where my body naturally burns 300-400 extra kcals a day just seems a bit of a stretch. Maybe after 2-3 years training?
Saw it so clearly with my dad. Loosing muscle memory in his legs resulted in a wheelchair… his health exponentially fell off. If he simply had muscle memory for a walker… my mom. Periodic use of a walker… when she needed it the memory was there. She’s still walking. The walker is fall prevention. A fracture is a death sentence at 90
So I'm 15kg (33 pounds) down today. I turned 45 at the end of June (28th) and decided that I needed to prioritise my health and wellbeing. So I started to prioritise protein, joined a gym - got them to do me a program and I have been really enjoying going. I would love to get one of your programs but I'm not sure which one??
Maybe MAPS Anabolic? The first week of workouts are available as free TH-cam videos, so you could try those and see if you like them before buying. In fact, you can repeat that week for a total of three weeks, which is what the program has you do, anyway.
What is the psychology of people who are afraid to do strength training because they think it's not enough and they'll get fat if they don't do cardio? I use to think this too I couldn't do strength training because I was afraid it wasn't enough and I would just get fat I felt I have to do cardio I have to move move move move move burn burn burn burn burn burn, I no longer think this way thanks to you guys now I do strength training and only walk as my cardio but I still can't figure out why was I afraid to do strength training, I can't figure out why did I think strength training was going to make me fat and that it wasn't enough
Interesting thing, this was not the same episode that they released on Spotify. They released a completely different episode for the same date. I wonder how many times they have done it before.
I take Aminos because I’m vegetarian- I eat eggs and cheese but there is no possible way I can fit 110 grams of protein into me every day. Try as I might, I just can’t eat that much and I’m way too full to fit a scoop of protein on top of what I’m already eating. I can’t swap it out for something else- because my intake is fairly low. I eat however much I want- it just doesn’t fit my belly. There is definitely a place for Aminos. I can tell the difference in how I feel with and without them- it’s huge.
Didn't Dr . Mike Isratel just do a video saying the metabolism doesn't increase that much (negligible amount) with strength training ? Can ypu elaborate on this concept
I am going through menopause and training full body with aesthetic program eating high protein no processed food and doing 15hrs IF and can’t lose a pound 😭😭😭
I feel your pain. I finally decided to pursue hormone replacement. I'm now on testosterone and progesterone and after a month I am finally getting results again. My testosterone was unmeasurable because it was so low, which meant I couldn't really add muscle. In fact I was losing it. I'm feeling so much better. Consider it if you can, it's not expensive and makes a world of difference!
@@jackiepurler7978thank you, can you please share how you got tested? I went through hormone therapy for 3 months with estradiol and progesterone and nothing changed at all 😢
Aesthetic is the most intense MAPS program. I had to reduce 1-2 sets per exercise to keep up with it. You may be underfed and/or not getting enough rest too. I'm 45 and right there with you, sister.
I like the information you guys share and I pay attention to the science. However, everything is circumstantial and when science is done under particular circumstances, it does work for everyone so a lot people fail at a physical goal listen to science when it may it apply to them. I’m currently doing some fasting and lost 20 pounds in 5 day and was linear for 5 days. There interesting events happening that I cannot explain like stalled weight lost after 12 pm. So odd! But my short term goal is to lose 40 pounds more in the remaining 24 days. I’m not concerned with muscle loss since building it back is very easy according to the science referring to satellite cells. My daily routine is rucking for 7 miles every morning. I’m going into my second week and expect to burn yet another 20 pounds by making the proper adjustments. I plan to get to 3% body fat in two months. I’m starting from around 25% body. Currently around 18% body fat. I plan to go straight to no to extremely low carbs once this fasting is over. Strength training was doing absolutely nothing for weight loss.
If this is statement is true that - Skeletal muscle only burns about 6 calories per pound (13 calories per kilogram) per day at rest, according to the research, then trying to add an extra 10 lbs of muscle, to burn an extra 60 kcals seems ludicrous? May be the above is an incorrect calculation? Where do you start to draw the line for diminishing returns? At what cost to the body as in ware and tear. One friend who recently turned 58 can no longer load an Olympic bar with weights to do a chest press, so wrecked are his shoulder joints. Would it be or should it be, much smarter to be carrying around enough functional muscle mass so that you can be independent and play with your kids? If your goal is to be a stage triangle - then that is a different scenario altogether.
If I focused on strength training I would have quit gym a long time ago its boring i dont sweat I dont loose weight it's not 4 me but I'm not disputing the facts shared here but it honestly isnt for every one
I have been listening to MindPump since almost the beginning. I love the show! BUT im not digging the new editing style where it cuts immediately to topics and listener live.. It's too jarring. just my opinion. Love the show podcast otherwise!

Exactly this 😂

Literally and I'm glad
I have a snack while I’m watching or listening generally Cheez-Its in my favorite

I have done circuit training for over 2 years. I'm 49 and in the best shape..

Learning a lot from you guys, thanks sooo much!❤❤❤
I love these mashups! It would really cool if they included the original episodes in the description.
This is great conversation just awesome
I do strength training I also do hypertrophy and thanks to mind pump media
YES!!! MIND PUMP!!! Manila, Philippines 🇵🇭 I definitely want to coach and train strength training out here 💪
Soon to be a father of our newborn baby boy this coming November
One of the greatest side effects of building muscle is when you use the muscle it sends a stronger signal to produce testosterone!
High protein and decent fiber breakfast will keep you feeling full longer! I go for the cruciferous veggies!
These guys are on fire right now.

Perfect timing, as a previous athlete and now mom… lifting 2-3 times a week is totally feasible
You're still an athlete... moms do a lot of work

Bring back the old show format!

Im looking forward to some new episodes. I understand they have to repeat messages and these older clips are important.
NORMA JEAN ROCKS!
Yesss consistency is the key,
Thanks!

I noticed my muscle mass is coming back quickly after my injury
Are there BCAAs an/or EAAs in Paleo Valley Bone Broth Protein?

Weird the big moves to prioritize didn’t include a deadlift. That’s a great compound move.
I don't think they intentionally left that out. Just coincidentally. I've heard them include deads in their core exercises before.

Why are you trying to get to 3% body fat? Competing? Sounds like a very aggressive weight and fat loss target..
