Spider plants are good to propagate as well. The babies tend to root and make their own plants quickly. They also are better as hanging plants to let those little spiders grow out in the air.
The silent to do list is my ultimate, arch enemy. I am finally at the stage in my decluttering where I'm able to start attacking some if these items, but I still have a long way to go. Cassette tapes, cds, dvds, old phones, digital purge and organization, photos, and the list goes on. Keep these kinds of encouraging videos coming, sister! ❤
I was actually so surprised that a room that I thought was "minimal" and calm had so many things that needed doing. I honestly feel a weight lifted... and I didn't even know it was there!
I’m with you on the gardening. It’s why I don’t have indoor plants. They screaming at me all the time, like water me, fertilise me, repot me, clean up my mess would just drive me absolutely mad.
I hear ya! I usually only ever water mine. And I bought these watering globes so now all I have to do is fill those and they automatically give my plants the exact amount of water they need. Very handy!
This was sooo satisfying to watch! Are you planning to do more of these? Loved it. I did a thing over several months where I wrote down ALL of my to-dos in each room and worked exhaustively to complete every single last one of them. I burnt myself out. And I discovered that for every item I checked off, a NEW one would take it's place. I was hoping that all of that hard work would put me at the finish line. Done for good! Or at least for a long while. No such luck. It just opened up time and opportunity for more menial things to add. I think it's life trying to tell me to stop trying to make everything perfect. But I don't want to yet haha.
Oh yeah, there are still plenty of things I could do in the room if I really wanted to. Mostly redecorating. But right now I'm happy I got the "chores" done. Thank you so much for watching! More decluttering videos on the way! Next week's video is the master bathroom.
I totally understand leaving books in the little library when you had a purpose for them but it's taking so long, I also did the same and it feels good not to be responsible for them anymore! ☺️
That's impressive, great work creating and clearing that silent to do list! I am inspired. While I love and am grateful for free book libraries, I think you made the right decision regarding your dream to have one yourself, as it was causing you stress, would have cost you valuable time and money and would require ongoing maintenance. It is a hard thing to face and declutter your fantasy self items but I'm sure you feel much lighter and have learned something from the experience. I like the way that you are creating not just a decluttered home that is easy to clean & tidy but a home with areas that you are able to really use and enjoy such as the little reading nook. Looking forward to your next update.
Thank youuu! I'm really happy with my decision to donate the books. Most of them have been taken, and it's lovely to know that someone else is benefitting instead of them just sitting around my home.
I have a Little Free Library and if someone left that donation in mine I would feel so very blessed. We stewards have a private Facebook group where we share photos of amazing donations, and I am certain yours warranted a post. Thank you for helping pass the love along. We can't exist without people willing to give.
Your honesty is refreshing and funny... good job getting those cruddy tasks done! That existing Little Free Library had a sad supply so it was in need of your books.
Oh my gosh well DONE Laura! 🎉❤ I'm at exactly this place in my decluttering journey of maintenance and tackling that silent to do list. Very inspiring. I'm sorry but I laughed my head off at the unbuttoned jeans 😂 You aren't alone with your embarrassment today. I fell up the stairs at work in front of a younger male colleague. Very undignified. I was MORTO. 😅
It was going to create a lot of extra work for me and I realised I didn't need anything else on my plate. 😂 I'm happy to have let them go, and that someone else will benefit from them.
Well-done, I didn't think you'd make that call on the books. ❤ I've decided to declutter some plants as they're just not getting the love they deserve.
I don't know anything about plants, and gardening. (I am allergic to grass and plants, so I never really deal with that sort of thing). I'm happy for you, to have your list all done up. 😊👍 And good for you, letting go of the library project.... I feel for you on that one.... I have several projects that I've been meaning to complete for years..... I have let go of several other ones a while ago.... but it's time to look through the ones that made passed the first Decluttering session, and let go of more. and set myself free. ... but it's hard to let them go. But..... it's time. Thank you for doing this video. ☺👍
Funnily enough, right after I did it I was chatting to my neighbours and one of them does woodwork. I didn't know that. He said he could have made one for me. But at stage I was happy with my decision. 🙂
I love this video series! I don't know exactly why - maybe because good things take time and you show the process and re-thinking 😊 Keep up the good work ❤ Looking forward to more videos 🎉
Aw, thank you so much! I'm trying to be really thorough and show the whole process from start to finish, as well as explaining my reasoning for doing certain things.
They make rechargeable versions of those small battery powered tea lights if that one dies and you decide you want to keep the lamp but not constantly replace the batteries.
My silent list is: Repair a shoe rack, hang curtains (new rods), organize my sock drawer, re-frame a picture that broke and patch nail holes in preparation for fresh paint in the bedroom. I feel so accomplished when I tick these things off the list!
@@HowToGYST Got the curtains hung and they look so pretty! Got the picture reframed and I love it. I cleared six boxes after watching last weeks video 💪👏👏👏
Congratulations on completing your silent to do list! Could you please explain what app or how exactly you created the list on your phone? I would love to have something like that on mine to utilize! I look forward to the great motivating content, Laura!
They have rechargeable flameless candles w timers. I set my bathroom ones to turn on at 6 pm and they go out at midnight. I recharge once a week w a USB cable.
Well done! I really think I could profit from making my invisible to do list "visible" aka written down. For your husband / bedroom: you might profit from giving him a laundry hamper right where he usually tosses his stuff. Looks neater and is easy for him.
I have. I think I’m going to get a rechargeable candle light for the lamp. I need something that’s already on so I don’t bump into things on the way. 😂
What kind of repair did your necklace need? I used to work in bead store..I probably could have fixed it for you...I've restrung Swarovski crystal necklaces.
My silent to do list is aggressively snarking at me. The list is long. Some of it are things we bought and I started installing - but the install didn’t go smoothly so I said - I’ll get back to this later. A laptop I bought June 2022. Ring doorbell. Dash cam. TV Ears. I finally got the new printer installed. Silk plants (3) to wash. Carpet to clean. I think I need a JUST DO IT day.
I think you should buy a new sleep mask. You deserve to be comfortable in the now and you can find a blackout mask for pretty cheap. Enjoy your now! ❤ your videos
The truth is I don't often use them. They're really just for when I have to sleep during the day, which hardly ever happens. So I'm good with the options I have for now. I did go ahead afterwards and declutter the uncomfortable one though, so now I just have the silk one left.
Mental load? Google, "You Should Have Asked" Also, use canned lithium grease, not wd40. wd40 is a displacer and you'll need to do those hinges again soon Also, tarnish isn't dirt. its just a chemical reaction. And you don't have to wait to buy black out drapes, there cheap now.
You struggled with the books, but think of it in another way. You are introducing the regular users of that free library to a new style of books, because it is usually the same 4 or 5 people that keep the books rotating in those, so when a new person adds books, it opens the door to another style of books, maybe subjects or authors the others don't read.. Another style that may inspire new ideas for someone.
Hopefully! I checked this morning and there are only 2 of my books left, so all the others have found new homes. Better that they get used than sit around my house.
Frustrated by your husband leaving the clothes on the floor beside his bed? Why not add a decorative hamper specifically in that area? Perhaps that might motivate him not throw items on the floor

I just did a silent to do list yesterday! All those little niggling things that are so annoying. I got them all done and it was so satisfying!
Ah, brilliant! Well done, Ned! Amazing how they all creep up.

That was brilliant. You really have a very tranquil bedroom now that you can totally relax in. Have a great week. Mary, Joes wife 🙇♀️👏💪👍🙏💐🐕🦺
Thanks so much, Mary! I'm really happy with the result.
The satisfaction of ticking off those tasks is so relatable. Great video.
Sooo satisfying! And they're things I never have to worry about again. Nothing worse than a task that has to be repeated, like laundry. 😂

Giving away plants is fun, if there's little free libraries in your neighborhood, sometimes I'll leave a cup with a spider plant pup or two in there~
That's what I'm considering!
I love my Manta sleep mask! If you decide to get yourself a new one they usually have good Black Friday sales.
This one was actually recommended to me a few times so it must be a great one! But I've decided I don't need one after all.

I'll be decluttering the entire house so plenty more silent to-do items to come. Unfortunately for me. 😂
I like how your hair was styled during the last few minutes of the video. I always enjoy your videos…well done.

Cut the elastic off the mask that feels nice and sew the mask part on the inside of the other mask...or just wear one mask on top of the other❤

Spider plants make great gifts
When I'm at the grocery store on a busy day, I pick up a roasted chicken for dinner. Our store makes very nice ones.

If your spider plant babies do take root you could sell them?
I think I'd gift them to neighbours who wanted them.
Very hard to kill a Spider plant, the roots usually untangle fairly easily. :-)
Mine definitely needed to be re-potted. It was getting very root-bound. Hopefully it'll be happy for a while in its new home.
Maybe for the Lord of the rings lamp you could get some fairy lights with rechargeable batteries. 🙂
