  • Lego NASA Apollo Saturn V Launch Umbilical Tower (LUT) Timelapse.
    I wanted somewhere to display my Lego Apollo Saturn V (21309) and found the plans online for this Launch Umbilical Tower - 4,600 pieces.
    All credit for design goes to Bailey Fullarton from 'AFOLs of FaceBook', you can find his Flickr page here: www.flickr.com/photos/bfbricks - Contact Bailey if you wish to get plans.

      I haven't really looked into it. I found that someone submitted the designs for another, equally awesome LUT to the Lego Idea's site. It has been in the review stage for quite some time so I'm hopeful it will get approved and released as a licensed kit within the next year or so.

    I really wish Lego would've just taken the time to design the correct fins for the Saturn V release. I mean really? The Saturn V does not have swept fins. One detail they chose to ignore. I got a 3D-set printed set from Shapeway but at 25% of the cost of the kit...but so expensive compared to the other pieces.

    • @zachg4198
      @zachg4198 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I get where your coming from, but it can be expensive to make new molds for pieces. I’m not saying it’s not doable, it’s just expensive. They also don’t make new parts for idea sets so there’s really no way we could’ve gotten better fins without making them too wide anyway.

      James Gaulton Hi James, yes 48x60 is correct, I just got a second 48x48 base plate and cut a 12x48 section off of it. Just put a row of bricks across the plate and use a very sharpe blade to score along the line until you get through, very easy but purists might hate on it. Cutting baseplates is the only modification I do to Lego, it’s easy and is only a base for the main build. Good luck!!

    Hmm... I didn’ get instructions - and are we supposed to get the big grey base plate separate?

    • @tailsby
      @tailsby  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Thomas, did you order yours as a kit from a website? I ordered all of the pieces separately for mine, mine is not a kit bought from a retailer it’s individual pieces ordered separately so I could build the model. There was a dodgy website (Vonado) selling a kit who used my video without permission, I have no association with them whatsoever. Mine is all official Lego pieces individually sourced. If you have bought a kit you may have been ripped off as I’ve heard nothing but bad things, read some of the comments in my video.

      Oh, dear, I did not know this. I ordered from Techmocs because I read about the Tower being declined at Lego Ideas, and then the Tecmocs ad popped up at Facebook. I really wanted it, however I do not like ordering a lot of parts from the LEGO website, as it is user unfriendly, so it seemed practical that someone offered all the parts in one set. You can only order a limited amount of parts per order by LEGO and you cannot save/duplicate orders if you want more sets of the same bricks. And it is extremely expencive. I did not know they stole the drawings from you, however in the future, I will probably order less items from chinese sites, first China needs to come to a settlement with the world about Covid 19, they kept the epidemic secret long enough, to let it be a pandemic. Which ironically was the reason I ordered the kit to have something to do during the lockdown, but it took two months before I got the kit, with no instructions!

    • @tailsby
      @tailsby  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that’s the risk you take ordering kits like this online. Firstly they are not genuine Lego pieces, I’ve heard of people not getting instructions and also only a fraction of the pieces arriving. I would request a refund if I were you or if you paid with PayPal lodge a PayPal dispute against them and hopefully get your money back.

      Yeah it’s a great song, shame the band are no longer together, they put out some great stuff. There’s a few videos on TH-cam of a couple of their gigs. The singer is now a solo artist who can be found on iTunes under ‘Ratcliff’
