@@telmocardoso4520 , I have mine displayed horizontal on top of a bookcase, sort of how I remember seeing it lay out at the Rocket Park at Johnson Space Center (before they built the building around it).

Just finished the Saturn V LEGO build for the 50 anniversary. It is still on sale even 2 years after. There are some amazing details I didn’t think would make it into a lego build. If you replace the escape tower with the command module from the splash down part, it does dock with the Lander allowing you to recreate the entire fight in LEGO. I do wish they would have released the Crawler and Launch Tower as an add on kit. This is an amazing LEGO kit all space enthusiasts should have.
Late reply but there is actually an umbilical launch tower but it’s a custom set by the creator of the LEGO Saturn V and it’s more than the set itself.
Yes, when they (re-)designed it at Lego and counted the parts, they were 1973 parts, and only then they realized they were close to 1969 (they didn't aim for that number initially), so they made small changes to the stand to save four parts. There was a bit of a small shock when they generated the instructions afterwards and the program Lego uses only counted 1968 parts, but then they remembered that the orange brick seperator counts as an additional part.
This particular Lego model seriously hits something in us older guys hey. This model is quite literally my childhood dream. Always wanted a multi-stage model Saturn V
I love how even though bionicle has ended long ago, the parts still provide structural reinforcement, integrity, and engineering to most LEGO sets. In a sense still doing what they were intended, creating and building.
Artemis 1 second launch attempt was scheduled at 9.17 pm finnish time on 3 September. I bought LEGO Apollo Saturn V package that day. I started to build it when Artemis 1 launching TV broadcasting was to be started. The launching was cancelled but I started to build Saturn V anyway. It took 5 hours to build stage 1. Next day it took 6 six hours to build the rest. Best LEGO package ever.
Adam. At 4.22 you say you would do knolling for free. My brother just bought 15608 peices to built the Quebec Bridge. A project about 18 feet long. Interested ;-)
Great video. My six year-old built this under my supervision and it was awesome. At 12:00 the LEM needs the thruster from the moon pad to achieve the correct height to mount between the fairings. For the LEM to dock with the command module you have to use the main piece of the "display" (grey with details) command module which has a peg/axle at the top that can be inserted, or modify the white command module using a small peg/axle. And WARNING: To recreate the mission sequence you will need to modify the top of the stage one booster. It has eight red clamps in pairs securing it to the base of stage two. Consequently it disconnects with such force that stage three will fly off from its momentum. To prevent this, remove one clamp from each pair, reducing it from eight to four. This will slightly compromise its integrity when horizontal, but allow the mission sequence to be recreated. And now you know. =P [edit] Forgot the link to my son's build: th-cam.com/video/j8L6vcH0E4E/w-d-xo.html&

I'm 60 years old, and my father was in the Air Force. The space program was a significant part of my childhood, and I was 5 years old when they landed on the moon. Fast forward 55 years, and I'm now a father of two boys who grew up hearing about my passion for the space program. My sons, who spent their childhoods building Star Wars Lego kits, recently gifted me my first Lego set: the NASA Apollo Saturn V. I have only completed the first stage so far, as building it is a time-consuming process, and my hands start to hurt after working on it for a while. I can't wait to finish it. After finishing the Saturn V kit, I would love to build a NASA Skylab kit, if Lego ever releases one, or an International Space Station kit.
A collector's booklet with beautiful details and pictures of the Apollo program too. They could have just gotten PDF versions for their tablets/phones. FeelsBadMan
I was expecting them to bring up tablets to follow digital instructions. But then, Boom! Norm arrives with a torn apart booklet. I actually twitched for a moment.
Knolling across bag numbers seems like a bad idea to me. The whole point of those numbers is to make it easier to find what you need for the sub-sections of work.
But it would be even faster still to only knoll within bags. Plus less walking to grab pieces on a table that long. That's extra true considering each of them were working on different parts (different numbered sections) of the instructions.
Megan Turcotte Having built this and many other Lego, knolling was not even required for this set. Lego breaks the bags down so much it's very easy to find all the parts. The time knolling would be greater than the time saved.
Just yesterday I finished building mine. My first LEGO set in 16 years. The process really brought me back and the two days I sent with it really gave me the sort of joy I havent felt for a really long time. There is something unreally soothing with building LEGO, it doesn't really compare with plastic modelmaking, which is my "main" creative hobby. With plastic kits, there is something a little unnerving, you can pretty much screw up at any time and all your effort goes to waste. With LEGO there isn't much chance of it and the process itself is just so joyful. On the other hand, I don't think I'm really proud of my LEGO Saturn V, as I would've been with even moderately successfull model kit project. After all, it is "just" following the instruction and there is little of personal skill and invention that goes into it. That being said, it still is an amazing piece to interact with or even just look at and I'm so very happy that I got it.

There are claims it doesn’t fit well at the top of the saucer but those claims are wrong and due to assembly errors on the part of the builder. It actually can dock. as a person which owns the set, from the beach rescue you just remove the thing at the top but keep the axel and put the beach rescue version of the command module and that is why the Lunar Module has the like axel hole on the top. It’s so you can dock with the axel.
I saw this model in late 2017 in France (the small town had a Lego exhibit that was pretty cool). I saw the Saturn V and was amazed. I went online when I got home, saw it, and bought it! It's an amazing piece of engineering.
Imagine your young self, someone told you: "Hey man, want do you want to be when you grow up?". Never would would you think you'd get paid to build lego sculptures whilst wearing a austronaut suit. I want his life XD
You can actually dock the command module to the lander, you need to swap it out for the one on the water landing display stand though and use the axle from that to link them.
lol @ 5:19 "you know.. I know I get the crap for it every single time and I just... I have SO much trouble caring." that is awesome, saving it for future use.
You can dock, you take the capsule off the sea landing and put it on the command module. You can also separate the LEM from the base. It is an awesome kit.
I'm so jealous. I want this kit so bad. UPDATE -- so I finally got the kit. My review is mixed. The second stage of the booster and the first translunar stage, as well as the Apollo spacecraft itself, went together quite quickly, but the first stage, which was almost half the build, was a pain in the neck. It was unstable, and kept coming apart. The worst part was that, thanks to the vague instructions, I only realized fairly late in building the first stage that I not lined up the hull panels correctly. So I actually skipped ahead and built the rest of the rocket and came back to the first stage later, which I'm glad I did. So this kit was a mixed bag for me. A mostly fun build, but frustrating at times. If you are buying this for a child, I would suggest you be on hand to help.
I just built this. It was the most fun and intriguing Lego set I've ever built. The use of parts and structural integrity is a Lego engineering masterpiece.
My father bought this for me for Christmas and I built it in 11 hours.... this is the most gorgeous set I have built. 😭💙😍 I loved every second while building it.
I had the biggest grin on my face, I didn't realize right away that I was smiling until it started to hurt about 4 minutes in. I LOVE this SO much! and I want one too, but they are expensive. I wish you could buy it one bag at a time.
I got really uncomfortable when you were turning the pages of the manual at 2:05 because it looked like the pages were going to rip! Always turn the pages by the corners!!
For what it's worth, you can in fact dock the lunar and command modules. You just have to take the command module from the landing scene, remove the flotation bits at the top, and use that crossbar to lock into the lander, as the lander explicitly has a receiver for it.
You know what's great about this set? It's high on the "swooshability" scale. Despite it's size, the great level of engineering in this set enables you to actually run about with it, holding it ONE HANDED and play spaceships.
+couchpothead 009 is such a classic too, my plan is also to switch between a couple of different natos, the bracelet is cool too, just a tad too mature for me since i'm only 18 and the 013 is my first watch
I've been into legos almost my whole life and I've only ever shared 1 set ever. I just don't understand how it's possible to share a set with other people, I couldn't do it
The command module does dock with the LM, you just have to use the one from the splashdown piece and remove the parachutes. On the real Saturn V, the CM is covered during launch by the white BPC (boost protective cover) which is what appears on top of the LEGO model.
The level of Lego engineering put into this is almost as impressive as the level of engineering placed into the real thing. What a fun watch, thank you.

They didn't read through those parts of the manual though, they just ripped it up instead. :(
Marclivis Yeah, I don't get why they ripped it up, it was such a beautiful manual.
They don't care. Caring takes time and TV personalities have no time for time.
As crude as they are, they make all the $ so, that's our culture.
Started watching until I realized I needed my own, now I'm back :)
lol @ 5:19 "you know.. I know I get the crap for it every single time and I just... I have SO much trouble caring." that is awesome, saving it for future use.
You can dock, you take the capsule off the sea landing and put it on the command module. You can also separate the LEM from the base. It is an awesome kit.
1969 pieces for the year of the Apollo 11 landing!
Here's another extremely popular Adam/LEGO build: LEGO Sisyphus Automata! th-cam.com/video/U46Yo_6z_F4/w-d-xo.html
I just built this set
I will buy this again because I broke 1st one
That is so beautiful! Well done
Amazing set. Lego fan since 1982 and I would not argue with anyone who wanted to say this was the greatest Lego set ever made.
My five year old cousin built this by himself, it was amazing, both yours and his look exactly the same and the set is wonderful
I would be tempted to put those microfigs on my 3d printed moon model...
You can dock with the LM you just have to use the command module in the water part of the mission
Please do more LEGO related videos
NOOOOOOOOooooooo………
who? I ask you, who opens all of the bags at once?
Me
big mistake
I usually do? Half the fun for me in lego building is digging around and finding the part like buried treasure! ^.^
Well, there are three of them working on the build... Maybe if Adam had done it solo...
Me, sometimes with small sets
Also there's an alternate command module dome piece so it can doc

The amazon advert makes note of a lovely fact about this kit - it has 1969 pieces. Most fitting indeed.
I had the biggest grin on my face, I didn't realize right away that I was smiling until it started to hurt about 4 minutes in. I LOVE this SO much! and I want one too, but they are expensive. I wish you could buy it one bag at a time.
£109. Honestly, I was expecting it to be more.
yeah its pretty good value for 1969 pieces
SeriouslyMikey yeah this set is one of the cheapest lego has made! its sick!!!
holy crap that's so cheap for lego
its because LEGO dont have to pay WB or other film companies for LEGO Batman or like LEGO Star Wars sets
Sad part is. From what I heard. They sold out of this model within hours of releasing it. Though that is what I heard.
I just spent 20 minutes watching grown men building Legos
It's been a year since this comment....you regret anything?
Worth it.
They're building 'Lego' not 'Legos'!
Ha
yep....Fuck i need a life.
I got really uncomfortable when you were turning the pages of the manual at 2:05 because it looked like the pages were going to rip! Always turn the pages by the corners!!
Garth Peters I bet you loved 5:00
Jason Zak Actually I didnt mind it too much haha
Yes! I am always telling my children that!
Jason Zak that was sacrilege! Could they have not photocopied?
For what it's worth, you can in fact dock the lunar and command modules. You just have to take the command module from the landing scene, remove the flotation bits at the top, and use that crossbar to lock into the lander, as the lander explicitly has a receiver for it.
You know what's great about this set? It's high on the "swooshability" scale. Despite it's size, the great level of engineering in this set enables you to actually run about with it, holding it ONE HANDED and play spaceships.
is Will wearing an Omega Speedmaster moon watch?
Yes!
1969 pieces In the build and Apollo 11 was launched in 1969
Illuminati comfirmed
very nice SKX Adam :) just ordered a 013 for myself
Felix Wild good eye there felix. I enjoy my 009. except I don't have adams bracelet I cycle through different natos.
Felix Wild I've got the Turtle. SRP773. I love it
Does Will have a Speedmaster?
Yep, that is a Speedy.
+couchpothead 009 is such a classic too, my plan is also to switch between a couple of different natos, the bracelet is cool too, just a tad too mature for me since i'm only 18 and the 013 is my first watch
You can dock you just need the body on the beach rescue like the thing with the windows
Also you can look on the back of the box to see that there is a different piece used to dock
Wonder if Adam will get the new Space Shuttle Lego have just released and build that too.
I've been into legos almost my whole life and I've only ever shared 1 set ever. I just don't understand how it's possible to share a set with other people, I couldn't do it
I think it is because some sets, like this one, are split into multiple stages anyways so it's easy for each person to build one stage
adam sorts at Warp speed
Why are all the comments about hating Norm? Don't listen to them, Norm.
Yeah, I know I would be the Norm in that room anyway.
"Screw you Mythbusters i wanna build toys for the rest of my life!"
That...is...beautiful. Wow. Lego has never been awesomer. ;)
watch infectedbear95
Good god I must have one!
I have never regretted not buying a Lego set when I could have, more than I do right now... I really hope they release more...
As the name implies, I'm a HUGE fan of Lego and I'm so glad you are too.
