    Welcome to Sensible Secondhand Reviews, the series where we take a sensible secondhand car worth between £1000 and £5000 and put it through its paces in a very straightforward manner! This time, we test a 2016 Kia Venga 1.6 "3" Automatic, which I actually sourced for a client back in 2021.
    Be prepared for surprisingly decent interior quality, the good old Hyundai Gamma engine (again), the horrors of the London Ultra Low Emission Zone, good equipment levels and very little of any consequence at all. Nothing untoward, then!

    Maintain it and it will last for eons.
    Not everyone is a auto enthusiast and are just interested in a vehicle that is reliable and durable and will last for years without breaking the bank to keep running.
    The Venga is a perfect example.

      I don't think I could have summed this up better myself! This is pretty much why Sensible Secondhand Reviews exists, and why I have sourced so many of these for clients in the past. Very glad to pin this comment on the video.

    Another 2014 Venga 3 owner,1.6L petrol 6speed manual. Does the job well, handles really well, nippy, very comfortable, half leather, lovely huge opening glass sun-roof (most of the reason I bought the model) heated seats, load area lies flat, Very satisfied and fully recommended. Very good review; tells all.

      Yes, we actually have another variation on this theme coming up soon on this channel, as I sourced another Hyundai ix20 last month. Everything you say is absolutely true, these are really good cars, probably why I have recommended so many of these over the years. Thank you ever so much indeed for watching and commenting!

    I have a 66 plate automatic, same colour as this one, in the 4 trim with panoramic sunroof. Got it at 3 years old with around 20,000 miles on the clock, now has close to 70,000. The 7 year warranty has now expired so I’m looking to px later this year. It’s been a great car, has taken me, wife, daughter and dog all over GB and several European trips. Daughter is over 6 foot tall and has adequate room as long as front seats aren’t pushed all the way back. Mileage seems to average around 35mpg, better on long runs. Not great but it is what it is. And for a 1.6 automatic without all the latest engine technology it’s not unusual I think. Fair to say it’s not the most exciting car to drive but it’s a comfortable, relaxed drive and has never let me down and anyway I have a motorbike for the fun stuff. Everyone who has been in it has been impressed with how spacious and comfortable it is for a small car. No regrets buying it and easy to recommend if you’re looking for this type of car.

    A very enjoyable review Sir, a very practical family car backed up with a 7 year warranty.

      Yes, it's not surprising I have sourced so many of these for clients.

    The fascia looks similar to a Chevrolet Spark, and the boot looks as big if not larger than the Chevrolet Sonic.
    One touch front electric windows, sat nav, etc., lots of standard equipment for the money verses the competition.
    I can see why Kia/Hyundai are very popular, and rightly so!
    Excellent review Joseph!

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the car is about the same size as the Sonic, but the boot is definitely bigger, and so is the interior space. It's not fancy, but it is what a lot of people need for daily use.

      Yes, it's an incredibly easy car to recommend, thank you for watching, sir!

    Good Morning Sir!! I think the front of this car is very similar to Fords of this period. Kia models that followed this seem to have evolved very much their own identity.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I think that it is probably similar to the B-Max of the time. They are remarkably good cars, and it is a real shame that Hyundai and Kia never really replaced them, as they have quite a following in certain circles.

    I have been an advocate of the Kia Venga since it's initial release. A well appointed MPV with great visibility and a very well designed and spacious cabin. Combine all of this with a 7 year Warranty and I was very disappointed to hear Motoring Journalists suggesting that a Focus C Max, Renault Scenic or Citroën Picasso had more style and driving dynamics and the major negative of the Kia Venga was its very firm and choppy ride.
    What utter nonsense. This is a fine car with a bulletproof and lively 1.6 motor. I would certainly buy one in 3 or 4 trim.
    Did the driver's seat seem good for long journeys??

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't find the ride choppy, sir. Driven about five of these, sometimes on bad surfaces too. The journalists may not have liked these at the time compared with others, but the C-Max doesn't seem as solid as one of these Kias (although it is definitely smaller), and I find them perfectly pleasant to drive for what they are. Driver's seat is just fine, plenty of adjustment even for taller people.

    I have a ‘66’ Venga 4 in lava red incl. pan roof & heated steering wheel, 6spd manual with 115 bhp / 250 nm torque and £30 road tax of the fuel type you don’t feature on your channel… ULEZ compliant (Euro 6) and no adblue nonsense to go wrong! Best upgrade Michelin Cross Climate+ tyres 😎

      @lloydvehicleconsulting  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, well, I am afraid that we still don't discuss those on the channel, although this one seems to be a sneaky one to get round the Mayor of London's ridiculous legislation...

    I want to take a 2017 Venga 1.6 petrol automatic. I read a bit on the Internet, a lot of them write that they use a lot of gasoline, and that scares me. What is your consumption like?

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This isn't actually my car, I sourced it for a client last year. It's very difficult to say, as there are so many variables with fuel economy (weather, traffic, driving style, type of roads, etc.)...

    • @felixgluhak1267
      @felixgluhak1267 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Fuel consumption is high. I have a 6 speed auto from 2018. I try hard to keep conumption low. When traffic is smooth and I’m at my best, I average around 6.5l/100km at moderate speeds up to 90km/h.
      Driving motorway 110km/h + you get like 7 - 8l/100km.
      Mixed driving is like 7l/100km.
      In town driving is easily 8l/100km.
      If you’re an “average” driver, you’ll likely be between 7 - 8l/100km .

    Looking for an auto Venga. I know that the 4 speed autos were regular torque coverter transmissions. Not sure about the 6 speed ones. Are they dual clutch transmissions ? Had a bad experience with a VW dsg box.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, I tend to not recommend the DSG gearboxes to clients unless I know that they have been serviced in advance of the recommended intervals, and even then... The six speed gearbox is also a normal conventional automatic, not a dual clutch.

    Very good high standards of equipment and decent build quality.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does seem very well made, albeit not necessarily luxurious (ideal for a family) and the "3" trim is very well specified, isn't it? Thank you, sir!

      I have sourced lots of automatic ones of these for clients (at least five or six), and have never heard of any issues.
