It’s a wonderland. You’d love it karts!!! That’s the next series I think you missed when you were away. My Temagami May long trip. It was incredible. It had all the things. I think you’ll enjoy it. 😊😊😊
Awesome!!! There's no greater start to an adventure then getting on Red Squirrel Road. My gf & I spend a lot of our summers there. We live in Temiskaming Shores.
Super informative, as always, Christina! Your enthusiasm and willingness to tackle challenges of all kinds is not only inspiring, but also invigorating. Thanks for this!
Thank you so much. Except they have now changed the reservation system not even a year after having me make this video. I guess I should contact them to see if they want me to make a revised version? Temagami is booking by Lake as of 2025. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. The rest of it is all valid and correct as far as I know. lol. cheers.
Thanks for sharing all your adventures and highlighting Temagami - looks so beautiful ❤ I bought Hap’s book at the Backcountry Canoe Symposium and love following your adventures- cutting my teeth in Killarney and Algonquin but I’ll make it to Temagami for sure !
Very nice video. I was formerly a camper and staff member at Northwoods Camp and also at Keewaydin. When I go to Temagami I usually stay at Finlayson Point Provincial Park across from the seaplane base at Lakeland Airways.
@@CamperChristina You do well to point out explicitly how difficult some of the portages are. I spent five full seasons at two different camps and have paddled at least 3,000 miles in northern Ontario all the way up to Moose Factory on James Bay. I also did one trip across Lake Temiskaming into Quebec back in 1970 which was quite different in some ways since it wasn’t so isolated as some of the Temagami back-country. If and when I go back I’d like to visit Hap Wilson’s camp. I have a copy of his coffee table book about his marathon Manitoba trip. I’ve read several of Grey Owl’s books. The owner of Camp Keewaydin told me that Grey Owl worked for Keewaydin as well, which I got a kick out of. So I”m dating myself because Keewaydin is no longer privately owned. Northwoods Camp was shuttered in 1974 and Crofut Island there was taken over by the Crofut family which had made the original land donation of their two islands to the Cleveland YMCA back in the mid 1930s.
I shall apologise for rambling now , But WOW, This was very informative Ontario Parks asked the right individual to give information on what it is like to camp in their backcountry parks You've canoed & portaged through the variouse areas , Camp in those area's You obviously had to get variouse permits so could explain how to get one on their confusing site You would know the variouse routes and skill levels which would be helpful for someone with less skills , , adding your video's and challenges ,camping experience ... would deffinantly be helpful . Your an epic knowledge in the variouse backcountry areas of Temagami's Make you a good representative , Well done Christina !👍 Quite the honour to be ask .
You are very welcome. I hope it helps. I actually have a video on my TH-cam channel on how I became a solo tripper. If you type that into Google with Camper Christina, the video should come up. Lots of people have found it very helpful, when starting their solo adventures. Cheers !
Great choice Ontario Parks! Great video Christina, congratulations on being asked to do this ❤, you are the perfect representative! Did my first trip there this month, now I see why you love it! 👏🏻
Great video Christina! I just did the run from Gamble down to Mowats Landing this past week and would totally agree, it's definitely a slog over bolder gardens and cliffs but the views are all worth it. I'm doing the Obabika loop in August in Haps book but may do a couple of side detours since I'll have about 10 days to play back there. Of course another visit with Alex on Obabika will definitely happen as well. Such a knowledgeable guy about the area.
@@aylalegault2940 it was pretty decent. You should be fine. A couple of rough spots but if you take it east, I'm sure a car can get through no problem.
Wow great video, very informative on the area on what to expect, possible sites, how to book and the list goes on. Yes decided to check some new ones ha ha
Awesome! Thanks so much for watching in commenting. Waiting for you to get into some trip videos. How about the Temagami May long weekend trip? Or one of the waterfalls series ?
This is excellent Christina, much appreciated, one of the best explanations of how the parks work up there. Out of curiosity, the Gamble Lake route, how long would you say it takes to get down into Florence Lake? This will be my first taste of Temagami, so starting with the easier routes :).
Thank you Scott. If you look in the description, Scott, the video link should be there. It took me one day to travel from Gamble to Florence. I think about seven-ish hours, but it will say exactly in the video. I took the two portages on the way in, not knowing I didn’t have to however so you might have to use the way out as well to get a better idea. It will also depend on your personal paddling speed. With a double blade I paddle about 5kms per hour. Cheers !
Excellent video, Ontario parks couldn’t have found a better spokesperson! Too bad it’s 12hours away from us though…. I can’t see why you don’t have 100k subscribers yet…cheers! 😊😊
Thank you so much Nancy for checking out the video and for your kind words. Sounds like me going to superior… Lol I think it’s around that drive time also? Cheers !
I need to go there. I pulled up a map and was amazed.... after studying it for quite awhile.

Thank you Doris.I thought so too.

Very cool! Thanks for sharing. I’ve done a jump off camp at Finlayson once before heading into the backcountry. It’s a nice campground. Cheers
