Solid! I think most of what you put in here deserves its own video, to be honest. Might get more eyes on it. This alone is making me more likely to pull the trigger on a pair of Grant Stone boots. I'm really about Made in USA because I think it's a skill that is fading and bootmaking is overall a hard, comprehensive process. It takes a long time to learn and requires so many steps - with equipment that's not readily available to the average individual without a lot of money. Which, in turn, makes it very hard to master and esoteric. With each generation we have less boot/shoemakers, which is a job that will forever be important. With that said, I do like what I heard and I haven't been doubting the quality of the boots at all; from watching your videos, they seem outstanding. I might just have to pick up a pair. Still need a pair of shell cordovan one day!

Dude thanks so much for your insights!! You're more right than you know about the video being jam-packed. I originally had over an hour of footage recorded and at times I contemplated splitting this into 2 or 3 videos, but as I edited I managed to get it below 20 minutes and decided to keep it all in 1 but still it was a tough decision!! You're right bookmaking is a very rare skill and I'm all about made in America products. Let me know if you do end up grabbing a pair of Grantstones, and thanks for watching my videos!!!

@@DalesLeatherworks I'll definitely let you know if/when I pick up a pair! And I'll keep watching your videos as long as you're making 'em. They're enjoyable and I'm pretty sure I watched your Alden 403 vs 405 video a few years ago. Then YT randomly recommended another one of your videos not too long ago. Ended up subscribing and watching quite a few just in the span of 2-3 days. Keep at it!

@@Cemmos that's so cool, and very interesting to hear!! I had no idea youtube was actually recommending my videos to people lol, I just assume people find me by specifically searching "Alden" or "grantstone boots." thanks so much for your support my friend, and I certainly intend to keep making videos!!

I am quickly becoming a fan of Kudu (Mark Albert Rust, Parkhurst Spruce, Truman Snuff, etc.), those grey ones look pretty cool.
I will also attest to the Leo last being pretty roomy, I had to exchange my 11.5D for 11D (I am 12 sneakers and 11E on Brannock).
Grant Stone offered a free return shipping label, which was awesome customer service compared to other companies!

Just kept staring at the Aldens. A timeless classic design that shows how minute details make all the difference.

But the GS is a better built boot, and is 1/2 the price.

I just got these on the on sale section of the GS web page and wow! They’re perfect and well made like all my other GS pairs. This is my first Ottawa pair and I’m very impressed.

I have 2 pairs of Diesel's and 4 pairs of Ottawa's. 2 of them are cxl and 2 are CF stead. My favorite style boots but I also love the Diesel's.

Interested in your long term impressions of suede boots as an everyday wear option. How do they hold up to everyday abuse vs. what you might expect from Chromexcel?

  • @MRIVERA4396

All of the pics online show the bourbon suede as smooth, has the suede gotten more nappy over the years and use? Heavily considering for a summer option. By the way I got my first Truman boot because of you, got the 79 last in oxblood double shot, they are even more gorgeous in person! Thanks for all your vids!

Oleg Kaderly thanks man!!! Hahaha it’s not so much about the income but rather how I allocate it!! I keep my bills to a minimum and I rarely pay for home maintenance and that frees up a lot of capital for boots 😁

Hey, how have these held up over a few years? Still at the level of the Aldens? And how breathable is the suede? Would this be a decent business casual summer boot for the office?

Hey I had bought some factory second Allen Edmonds, the Normandy. Overall I’m very pleased but the reason they were seconds is cause the toe box kinda collapses, you can’t notice it to much but if you really look you can. Have you ever had any experience with this kind of issue?
    And great video

    • @DalesLeatherworks

hey man! yes in fact I got a pair of Truman boots in toscanello horse rump which are B-grade where the vamp isn't even but to be honest had Truman not pointed it out I would have never noticed it!! it doesn't bother me in the least because they still fit and look amazing. ultimately it's how you feel about them that matters most!!

What are your opinions on their latest Dark Walnut Chromexcel diesel boots? Between those the crimson color diesel boots.

    • @DalesLeatherworks
      @DalesLeatherworks  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Dude I saw those dark walnut ones pop up on their site and they are absolutely beautiful. They're a true chocolate brown. The crimson is also amazing, I have that pair, and that's a popular and common shade of CXL. Dark walnut is a bit more rare and under-used, so if I were you I'd opt for the dark walnut! Though of course it all depends on your current rotation :-)

I'm probably going to buy a pair of Grant Stone Ottawa boots. I'm an 11 D in a Brannock Device and I am a 10 D in the Alden Trubalance last. What size Ottawa boot do you recommend I purchase?
