    I *love* grant stones. Amazing quality. 4 pairs of diesels, 1 of edwards, 1 ottowas, 3 pairs of brass, and 2 pairs of field boots later, I honestly don't really look at many other brands anymore.

    This was an interesting video for me, as I’ve been on a Grant Stone odyssey of my own. I think my 12th pair arrives tomorrow, a Diesel in Walnut Bison. The brand has covered all the bases for me: style, fit, materials, construction, variety, and the intangible “feel good” overall vibes. With GS I absolutely know I’m getting a product well worth its cost. Great video from the best boot channel on YT.

    Love your channel! Thanks for sharing your passion for boots with us. I’ve never seen a negative review of Grant Stone. Wish they were available in larger sizes…I’m a 15D. Received an email from Kim from Grant Stone. They may be offering their boots in size 14 in the next year or so. Maybe larger sizes are to come? Keep up the great work, Teik!

    Grant stone has become my favorite brand of boots. To me, they are perfect esthetically. Not to pointy as a thursday boot, and not too bulbous as an iron ranger.

    Very nice! I was into the more office/casual and dressy boots, like the Diesel and Ottawa, before really getting quality rugged boots. The Brass Boot and I love 'em. The only thing I wish I had done differently is get the flat sole option because the heavy lugs can be a bit rough on my bad knees after a long day. Moreover, I'm surprised how I'm now a Moc Toe guy...love my Origin Maine, Thorogood, and Wolverine boots. So much so that I ordered two pair of the Field Boot. I really like 'em...but hopefully they come-out with a Field Boot 2.0 because I HATE the laces (which I immediately replaced) and D-rings. Moreover, these boots are roomier than even the Brass Boot, which uses the same last. I have a low arch and had to downsize 1/2-size because of the high toe box. Enjoyed.

    I feel you with the cognitive dissonance that can arise with the mixed dressy/rugged elements. There's definitely some makeups where I wish they went with a different sole (Garrisons being mostly on lug confuses me) or a different model for their leather choice. I get that it's a core part of their design philosophy and generally works well, but sometimes the balance is off.

    Love Grant Stone! Have a pair of diesel’s in Dune Chromexel, the Ottawa in Bourbon Suede, and a pair of suede loafers…I would love a pair of Shell Cordovan brass boots, or even the Brass in Jungle Kangaroo. I paused my GS purchases because I been buying my favorite brand Truman, but I think I will go back to GS soon to get a pair of brass boots. GS needs more roughout options in my opinion

    You just pushed me over the edge to get my third pair of Grant Stones despite saying that they were too expensive with shipping, the duty and tax in the UK plus the extra 10% that UPS somehow manage to add on (last time total went from 370 usd to 585 usd).
    I wanted the rust kangaroo leather and just noticed that the Edward is on sale in that leather and also shipping has now halved. I'm sure UPS will manage to add on a substantial duty handling fee but it is more palatable....and I really want to try that kangaroo leather.

    I'd only owned dress boots and dress shoes before. Only recently have I gained an interest in more rugged boots. Grant Stone is the first brand that I've started exploring in this category. I think maybe they're a good way to ease myself in to things since it's really quite a shift in thinking from dress boots and shoes. Aesthetically Grant Stone do seem a bit dressier than other more "serious" work boots I've looked at, and they offer a really good balance between quality and price. Thank you, your videos have been very informative. I don't know if I could do a Moc Toe though... There are some things that my dress boot mind just haven't come to terms with yet!

    • @Banzai431
      @Banzai431 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Bootlosophy I have indeed and I appreciate your recommendation, however I'm of the opinion that Thursday perhaps strays a little too far in to the dressy boot category. Their popular Captain boot seems to resemble the Edward Green Galway in sleekness, and I do have a few rather refined dress boots of that style already. Hence I have not really felt the need for yet another very sleek derby boot. I will admit though that their cowboy boots have caught my eye, though I have by no means ever been within 10 feet of a live cow! 😁

    I am salivating at the natural waxy commander diesel at the moment, but then Oakstreet released their limited field boot in Badalassi Cognac Ness and I now also have the A5 Wagyu steak boot in my mind all the while I'm trying to buy less.
    That said, Oak street also recently released a limited run on Horween's Shackleton leather, which is claimed to be waterproof. No idea how that works as I don't think Horween would put a layer of acrylic on it and call it day.

    Hi Teik, I'm just curious, between Grant Stone's Leo last and Parkhurst 602 last, which one has a wider toe box?
    On the Parkhurst website, it said that their 602 last has an E width at the ball area. However, I've seen many Grant Stone/Parkhurst reviews, including yours, it seem like Grant Stone's Leo last with D width is as wide as Parkhurst's 602, or even wider from some angles.
    Does this mean that the D width in Grant Stone actually leans toward a normal E width?

    its impressive how much content you put out.. I wish I was that active on my channel.. (I tend to avoid products Made in China when possible to be honest) but I do admire the Brass boot and the Field boot.. the Brass Boot is very Alden 401-405ish.. I hope you get some Drew's! I just bought a pair a few days ago.. they have them right now in stock actually in our size.. (8D) .. I also used a code for free shipping, so an even $350 USD.. My job is very intense physical labor.., I honestly don't want to wear any of my nicer PNWs,, so I bought the Drew's just so I can be extra harsh on them and not feel as bad about it hah

    Top-notch video - as always. How do you rate GS leather outsoles? Does it have good traction? I am thinking of pulling the trigger, but living in Northwestern, rainy Europe makes me think twice about slippery leather outsoles...

    • @Bootlosophy
      @Bootlosophy  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I’d give them an 8 out of 10 because they’re not treated with oils some leather outsoles (Oak Street Bootmakers, Wolverine) are that make them grippier. I guess they’re fine after abrasion, but I’d think twice about slippery wet tiles like say down an Underground Rail system. I also find them a softer leather and the initial wear is alarming, before they stabilise.

    • @ryanpiyo98
      @ryanpiyo98 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Bootlosophy yes it's the same with my experience. I got toe taps installed because the wear at the toes was pretty incredible. But it has stabilised since. The cobbler also mentioned that he believes grant stone's leather outsole is softer than a JR leather outsole for example.

      I suspect the closest is the Brass boot, but you’d have to really break them in before you go! Maybe do the usual break in process over a couple of weeks, then take them for a 3 hour walk, then gradually extend to a full day, and go from there!

The boots look nice, and the quality is supposed to be really high, but the past year I have been striving to buy only Made in the USA clothes and boots when I can, and personally I dont want any of my money going to the CCP due to their human rights issues. Nothing at all against Grant Stone themselves, their boots look great. I may end up buying some second hand if I can.

      @@Bootlosophy GS is big enough that they must have a CCP member on staff. Also the CCP can just take the company away from them. Doesn't matter that they are a US company, they have to play nice with the CCP to stay in business in China. As for the example of a smart phone. Most of the chips are not made in China but the phone is assembled in China. Wish I could remember the news report on it and post a link here that defines what is actually made in China around cell phones. Lots of companies are leaving or trying to leave China. They have to try and protect their IP and get it out of the country, before leaving. The CCP is well known for stealing IP once it is in the country. The dislike of China has very little to do with the Chinese people but the CCP and its crimes against it own populace and its politics and geopolitics.
      FYI, I really like the Diesel but will not purchase a pair until GS changes it manufacturing location.
