A little fun fact about this band: Yuko Suzuhana (the lead singer) and Kiyoshi Ibukuro (The guy who plays the Koto - which is the instrument that is sort of like a harp) are married and had a baby about two months ago. One of their more well known songs is "Senbonzakura". There are many live versions of this song on TH-cam. One of them is from the same concert as the "Bring Me to Life" reaction you did to them with Amy Lee. In this version of the song, Amy Lee comes on stage to sing the last chorus of the song with them in Japanese! (Also, you two were discussing where this show was after your "Bring Me to Life" reaction. The show was in Osaka Japan).
"tsukini sakebuyoru" consists of 3 parts: tsukini （月に）means "to the moon" sakebu （叫ぶ） means "to shout/call out" yoru （夜） means "night" so it can be roughly translated as "(the) night (ones) shouting to the moon"
Music is in the ear of the beholder. Prior to classifying as a lesser song, I would suggest going back and listen to the intricacies and the mixed product, especially the 2nd song Tsukini Sakebuyoru.
Man, where do you find these bands? This ain't Zeppelin or The Beatles. But it is Kick ass. This is absolutely great if a tad uneven. Traditional Japanese music that rocks. Nothing wrong with some fine cutlery, either.

In tuning the Koto, the string instrument, I'm no expert, but I have learned that part of the tuning is placing the 'risers' holding the strings up in the proper place besides string tension. There are a couple of vids out that you can see them being moved between and even during a song to change the sound from that string. Certainly not an instrument for the meek to learn.
She is a master at singing, at the piano and with the sword. I think I have heard some more, but I do not remember.

That sword dance is not she is just playing. She practices real genuine traditional sword dance "Kenbu".

I wonder if you need a permit to have an unsheathed katana in public? I'm guessing they wouldn't choose to use a prop sword...
