    WHAT TF!!! He cut the rope?!? What kind of lunacy?!? Is that protocol??? I was not expecting to hear of such blatant negligence and idiocy. Imagine what this man went through as he’s helplessly watching all this unfold. Oh my goodness. I am shaking with anger. I don't think it's a regulated industry with standards or certifications. Tourists may assume the captain has some of those or at least safety standards in place, but most of these boats will have you sign a release before you ride / parasail with them. That's more assurance for covering their legal bums than protection for you.
      I wouldn't warn against it per say. Stories like this seem rare still, few and far between. Plenty of people try this with amazing results. I tried and had a great experience in Turks and Caicos many years ago. Faced my fear of heights on a clear day.
      I'd suggest asking the local hotel staff, especially at higher end hotels, which company to go with or which ones have strictest safety standards on board or the best reputation. Many will tell you "Company X has a lot of happy customers but company Z gets more complaints..." Or whatever. Take that to heart. Ask locals who you'd be safe with and exercise caution. If it seems bleak or extra windy or rainy, better to wait it out and try again on a clear day. Don't rely on anyone else to protect your own personal security. Listen to your instincts. If the captain and crew seem rushed, or try to hurry you up for a ride before the weather opens up, then insist you take a rain check or a partial refund. Understand these things happen. Better to lose an opportunity for high flying fun than a life. You can try to parasail some other day but you can't bring yourself back from a risk like this, Heaven forbid.
      This is just so sad. I can only imagine how traumatized those young men are. I pray they heal quickly and as completely as possible although I'm sure a part of their hearts will always feel missing. Too sad because this was so preventable. What a shame the captain didn't think clearly about the importance or impact of passenger safety.

      Same thing happened to me in Puerta Vallarta. Big gusts of wind keep coming as they were trying to land me right in front of a hotel. They'd speed away and I would launch 50-75 feet up in the air in moments. I held on so tight to the ropes that my hands nearly bled. After 5 or 6 attempts they finally got me safely down. After I landed I was told that they were more cautious because a woman died just the day before because she got slammed into that same hotel as they were trying to land her! I sure wish I would have known that. I feel so grateful that I survived that. A year later I parasailed in Hawaii so I could have a positive experience, and I did. Yeah it's one thing if there were other children and passengers in the boat but... It sounds like it was just the captain, his crew, and the victim's husband. In that case I feel like the captain and his crew have a moral obligation to risk their own safety and the boat's safety to try to save these people who they are responsible for. It sounds like a horrible situation to be in, but, you can't abandon people like that when you're responsible for their safety on the water.

That captain may have chosen to save those in the boat rather than those in the parasail but before that he chose to take tourists for their almighty dollar rather than considering their safety against the weather. After cutting them lose, he had a choice to drive the boat around to save them, or at least radio or cell call emergency services and even a request to do so but decided not to.

You pay extra money to use a company that gets people back alive & insurance in case something goes wrong. (Don’t get me wrong I have a horror story of losing my younger sister in Croatia…nothing is perfect).

      @@levithewonderdog335 There are new reports surfacing that she had already died BEFORE she launched. It's Arab custom to be buried at Sea. That's why Osama Bin Laden was buried there too.

    I can't even imagine this man's pain and horror seeing his wife, son, and nephew being cut loose in a wind storm, and what they must have been feeling as they blew away, not knowing where or how they would land and what would happen to them. 😢 My deepest condolences to this man and his family, and prayers for the two boys. 🙏❤

    This so so awful, my family and I were due to go parasailing however it was cancelled. When it was cancelled it was bright and sunny outside so we didn’t understand an hour later there was a typhoon.

    This is terrifying. I went parasailing in the Bahamas and we got back on shore just in time. I’m now realizing how negligent my parents were for doing that.

      All Parasails must now be registered at the DMV. Or your local Police Station. Ropes that can be cut with knife are no longer allowed.

    This is just heartbreaking and disgusting. Also, I would never go parasailing. I witnessed a woman’s death on Clearwater Beach when a storm blew in and she got dragged on the beach. It was Memorial Day, and the beach was crowded with families who saw it happen.
    I worked on that beach for 15 years, and got to know many guys who run those boats. They definitely need better regulations.

    • @J7pat7
      @J7pat7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Lack of regulations and/or enforcement seems to be the big problem in most of these cases. i mean, This guy didn't even have a working phone . At least that's what he claims.

    • @amandas5261
      @amandas5261 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@J7pat7 I can’t even wrap my head around everything this guy said and did. I’m not saying he was on drugs or alcohol or anything, but I will say from experience that the locals who work on the beaches tend get wrapped up in the party life. It was a blast in my 20’s, but I still know people in their 50’s who never wanted to grow up, and are still living that lifestyle. Especially the “jet ski boys” as we called them (which included the parasailing, at least where I was at).

      People need to also look at the weather because I wouldn't have gotten the boat if there was any chance of bad weather

    • @frenchtoast7742

      My brother worked on Clearwater beach and they had strict regulations and worked on Johns Pass for Parasailing. This was gross negligence on the Captains part . Not all parasailing boats are like this . They usually check the weather and do not go when the weather is bad and close their doors down . My brothers work would do this and turn down customers . Don’t try to give Clearwater a bad name or other businesses out there .
