      That's what I was thinking. Bizarre.

    • @ninjagirl226
      @ninjagirl226 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      The locking mechanism is to make sure that the room stays cold. If it’s not engaged then the temp won’t be where it needs to be and that can lead to issues. Now why the latch was engaged while she was in there is a whole other thing because we have a room like this if someone is in it we don’t completely seal the door or we make sure someone knows we’re in there.

      @@midori4713 Most home freezers aren’t walk-in freezers and they don’t go down to -10.
      Ultimately my guess is that it’s because of the value of everything in the freezer. The freezers we have easily have probably a half million worth of enzymes. If you lose power or if it’s not completely sealed the loss is devastating if temperatures rise too much for too long. This happened when I was in college and it was crippling. I imagine food is somewhat similar.
      In contrast, a home freezer failing isn’t as economically devastating. And the rules around what can and can’t be eaten if it happens are not as strict (like I’m not terribly concerned about refreezing my peas but Walmart probably wouldn’t be allowed to sell them).

I was impressed at the way he ran that place - he was on top of everything and one step ahead of everybody and everything. He would hire people from the rehab to teach them work ethic and getting use to being responsible to a job. He was very respected. Industrial freezers act like a faraday cage. I worked at Taco Bell in high school and got locked in our freezer for about 10 minutes at the end of the night. Luckily our GM had a rule that you could not open or close alone. Always two people. You could slip and fall, cut yourself, have a robbery, or get locked in the freezer among many other possible dangers. And they had a crew out first thing the next morning to fix the freezer door. But back then a single family owned almost all of the stores in the area and they cared about quality, came to the store often announced or not, took complaints from customers and staff and cared about our behavior while on the clock seriously. It’s a different world now.

      It really wouldn't take a genius to understand that if that door closed and latched while someone was inside it could be deadly, and all they had to do was forget one time to do whatever stupid jerry rigging thing they did to make the door not latch, for something very bad to happen.

      Sad to hear about that @ Jill Louise and that you suffered that type of harassment which is completely intolerable behavior of any employee to do that to another employee that type of intolerable behavior is actually criminal and those employees are now a liability to the company by holding an employee hostage in a freezer it could be considered as unlawful kidnapping . That type of behavior is intolerable and an actual firable offense as well as a criminal as it's actually creating a toxic work environment to unlawfully confine and detain someone and hold them against their will in a freezer to cause emotional , psychological and physical distress etc . I hope you filed a police report and contacted HR about the incident because that is abuse and harassment which caused emotional distress and which intent to cause harm to an employee they intentionally violated your rights by doing so to display an act/ tactics to intimidate you and cause fear , confusion , panic and intentional distress what you described is violence in the workplace which is actually if you look in your employee handbook. I'm sure you will find the clause in which any acts of violence , intimidation , agression on an employee of the company is a firable offense as well as criminal and for HR to be properly notified of such offenses or grievances and to have law enforcement contacted in case of such offenses against an employee to properly be investigated upon. If I were you I would also contact a lawyer that could handle this as you seem like you have a clear cut case here . I'm sorry that happened to you at work for I believe there are zero tolerance policies put in place for exactly what you experienced for that reason why zero tolerance policies exist to protect innocent employees from hostile bad hires that are liabilities to companies and fellow associates. Nothing is worse than a bad hire and unfortunately in your case those employees were bad hires causing much harm to the employees and furthermore the company causing mayhem .
