A tutorial on drawing the shapes of charges ions for A Level chemistry. Remember to look back over the basic shapes of molecules.
2 bond pairs = linear 180° bond angles
3 bond pairs = trigonal planar 120° bond angles
4 bond pairs = tetrahedral 109.5 ° bond angles
5 bond pairs = trigonal bipyramidal 120 and 90 bond angles
6 bond pairs = octahedral 90° bond angles
Take off 2.5° per lone pair.
