My Chem lab teacher talked about this in class for 2 full hours using balloons. Everyone was so lost. He never even mentioned that the lone electron pairs is what pushes and creates the bent shape. He just kept repeating the words shape families and subclasses. I couldn't figure out how a triginalplaner could be a family AND a subclass. Just using the words "Based on because a molecule is not there" made it CAKE! I know it 100% now thanks!!!
True. Khan academy's video are a bit rushed and sometimes feel conplicated. We can also see his face in the video which also plays an imp role in makinf his teaching effective
This teacher takes so much effort for making us understand the topics using analogy, shapes and life example as if like we are children to learn these topics. And that’s very rare too see around from the teachers nowadays. This just shows how valuable Tyler is, he is worth more than a noble prize helping other students to fully understand difficult topics as if like none else can even come close. ❤❤ Keep it up!
you are the one who deserves the credit for my good score in chemistry. I didn't understood vsepr until I watched your video, I've also watched your redox videos. Once more I'm very very thankful of you, you are one of the best teacher in world. Lately I've been having a hard time solving problems related to hybridization and dipole moment, would you please make a video on those topics too?
These videos are awesome! I'm currently in a chemistry for nursing majors course and I really appreciate that the videos on this topic are broken up into "beginner" and "advanced" because my course does not cover the larger molecular shapes.
chemistry was my favorite subject in high school but after encountering these topics in college, I had started to hate the subject. your videos made me fall in love with the subject again. i can't stress this enough but you're such an amazing teacher. i am truly grateful for all the efforts you put in teaching chemistry in a more comprehensive manner. THANK YOU!!!
thanks for blessing all of us and saving our breath in chem exams,u explains everything in the best way possible,I think i got it correctly now.thanks again.
So first off, it's not exactly 107 degrees. It depends on the molecule. In some, it's a little bit more, and in others, it's a little bit less. So it's better to say that it's "around" 107 degrees. But where do we get that number? We don't just make it up--we take molecules and use sophisticated tools to measure the angle between the bonds. So 107º isn't a number you could come up with out of thin air. You actually need to take some real molecules, measure them, and see what the number is.
Tyler, first of all thank you - your video are the best I've yet seen. You truly deserve all of the praise you've been getting. Secondly, do you have any videos on Lewis structures? As you mentioned at the end of this video, trouvé got to know them...
I just want to thank you so much for doing these videos. I have a lot on my plate this year and was not doing well in chemistry at all. i could not learn from my teacher but you have helped me so much. im so thankful
Thanks so much for these vids, they're fantastic! I love how you have 2 cameras so we can see you explain it as well as what's drawn/modeled. Couldn't be any better!
Thank you. I had a panic attack at school over my chemistry class. I have to do well in this class to get into a medical program. You are helping me more than my professor.
sir, the effort and time u put into making these videos is well appreciated by us students and we would like u to know that cos of great ppl like you we are actually able to pass chemistry with A's...thankyou so much
I have an chem exam soon and I really don't understand what my professor talks about at school. I wish I could find your channel before! You saved us haha
Ive been putting off my homework because i just dont get it...but every time i watch a few of your videos, it clicks! (Im somewhat homeschooled so i dont get a lot of help other than my own research) Thank you sooo much for your help, my first assignment i got 90% and its the highest ive had in a while. You are awesome!
I love to watch your videos that clears my doubts !! in the world of chemistry I am becoming your fan!!Also,I wanted to know whether there is any methods to calculate bond angles of any compound just by looking at its chemical formula?? Please help...
all my life i Mastered chemistry and never really understood these thories not sure how i passed chemistry in high school 🤭 but all thanks to you sir your videos have given me the confindence i need to start over and actually understand chemistry and what really goes on🙌🙌🙌🙌
God will definitely bless you. I have watched all your videos on VSEPR and what I couldn't understand in two hours I have in less than one. I'm so glad I saw this.
Man you are my brother ,my father,my coursing infact everything .because of you, I made my group won chemistry quiz and almost all the questions where answered by me and I also don't know when I turn the quiz into argument when my group where asked wrong questions and they later realized the mistakes
Hey Tyler, could you make a video explaining orbitals and electron configuration? Your videos are proving to be my best weapon in the fight to stay on top of chem 111, thanks so much for the help.
Dear Sir, I wanted to ask if SO2 is a symmetric or asymmetric molecule? I'm not sure if when someone says a molecule is symmetric, does it mean that its atoms are symmetrically distributed and that the charge distribution is symmetrically distributed? Does the lone electron pair affect the symmetry of the molecule? Thanks in advance and sorry for my worse English. All the best! Thank you
Thank you Tyler, helped a lot!! Can you please explain the concept of formal charge, what does it mean actually? And why is it that molecules with least formal charge are considered as least stable?
Can you explain why the angle comes down from 109.5 to exactly around 107 degrees? While I can understand that the angle will be less than 109.5, what exactly gives us this 107 degree value?
Thanks a lot, for these amazing videos :) all your explanations are clear, and it is easy to understand deeply :) So ,your teaching ability is perfect !GOOD LUCK ! :)
This guy is gold. He should go and give a lecture to all the teacher on how to teach.
I agree with you.. he really teaches very well
kasra fk funny thing is he did a ted talk and gave a speech about better teaching
yes bro he should teach the existing teachers that how to teach sub like chem in easy and meaningful way
He did, check out his ted talk...
He isn’t gold he’s DIAMOND 💎
I created an account just to comment how much you helped me this year.
lol
Lmfao
That's so sweet 😭🤣
YOU ARE THE MAN. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY OTHER TEACHERS CANT TEACH LIKE YOU.
My Chem lab teacher talked about this in class for 2 full hours using balloons. Everyone was so lost. He never even mentioned that the lone electron pairs is what pushes and creates the bent shape. Dude, I love chemistry and you just made my college life simple. Almost to Organic Chem *thumbs up*
These videos are awesome! I'm currently in a chemistry for nursing majors course and I really appreciate that the videos on this topic are broken up into "beginner" and "advanced" because my course does not cover the larger molecular shapes.
I don't know if it is the sleep deprivation, but something about his voice is so soothing. It makes me want to sleep.
It's because it is chemistry
1joethebro you suck
"Understanding mistakes is one of the best ways to learn and make sure that you really understand something."
Best chemistry teacher ever!!

These videos have helped me to understand chemistry so much! Thanks so much Tyler, a real help.
Best at 1.25 speed
i am liking your are teaching in such a way that is easy to understand really impressed
at 3:19, why CH2O has 120 degrees? According to rule number 3 of VSEPR, multiple bonding pairs must have more space.
1st year of med school. this is helping a lot, thank you!
Thank you
very professional video thanks for helping me and going at a slow pace. your a great teacher keep up the good work!
thank you for being so clear and organized
Ur teaching is truly amazing!!!
Thank you Tyler, helped a lot!!
Can you please explain the concept of formal charge, what does it mean actually?
And why is it that molecules with least formal charge are considered as least stable?
This is very helpful, as I was always confused when identifying shapes.
Best video...never learned so easily before
He explains it so easy and nice, love it!
Thanks for helping me understand one of the concepts that I just couldn’t grasp..until now. :) hoping to get an A on my final exam.
Can you explain why the angle comes down from 109.5 to exactly around 107 degrees? While I can understand that the angle will be less than 109.5, what exactly gives us this 107 degree value?
Brilliant stuff man. SO much better than my chem teachers which is embarassing
3:44 -is the O double bond with 2 lone pairs with C and 2 H bonds not be considered a T - shape? two lone pairs with 3 bonding mol.?
I love your videos! Could you please make one on electronegativity and identifying polar/nonpolar molecular structure??
Thanks a lot, for these amazing videos :) all your explanations are clear, and it is easy to understand deeply :) So ,your teaching ability is perfect !GOOD LUCK ! :)
coming in clutch with my comprehension of chemistry and that i thank you sir!!!!!
So for it to be a trigonal planer would it have to have the lone pair. In the example at 3:03, they both have lone pairs. I need help what do you do
🙋♂️ur fan from YEMEN 🇾🇪
THANK U FOR ALL UR VIDEOS
