    I just opened mine tonight--WHAT A JOY. I ran my hands and fingers over the beautifully produced guides, pieces, and boards like they were some lost ancient artifact. This is a masterpiece of historical poetry... disguised as a war game!

    Thanks Nathan, I'm looking forward to watching you play. I'm psyched to play it solo with the new system.

    I got my copy about the same time you did I guess (but in NZ). Look forward to seeing your take on the beast, and would be very interested in your opinion on this verses Dai Senso! Cheers!

    Good stuff! My copy comes in early next week and I too am looking forward to tackling the game.

    Looking forward to your future coverage of this beast. The game is still unplayed on my shelf, I've tried to learn it a couple of times but somehow I'm not compatible with the rulebook...

      Make sure you have all the latest components then play it solo several times using the solo system. There's a learning curve associated with EotS but it is manageable. Good Luck.

    Looking forward to it. It's been on my shelves unplayed for far too long!

    This game is just amazing, easily one of the best of all time.
    My solo house rules:
    - Head to head with both hands visible
    - BUT - Draw reactions from separate deck and always have 1-2 in hand (roll to decide)
    - Random roll to determine whether reaction is played so the tension of planning around them is intact

    This is a great game. Played the full campaign with the solo bot and it was one of the few games that kept pulling me in (some can feel a chore to play). Really enjoyed it - even for solo play. Also put a BGG review up under Flashpan :)

    Hope to see some playthrough videos... I play COIN, Enemy Kharkov, Holland 44... buy I just can not crack this game 😞 think its a bit of 'no clue' what to move or aim for.

    Thank you for the great unboxing. Can I ask where you order the games from. Im from Australia too and find that ordering direct from the games creator website is way too expensive to ship to Australia. Curious to know if you get your games local.

    • @WiseGuyHistory
      @WiseGuyHistory  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I just bit the bullet and pre-ordered from GMT direct. You get a bit of a discount on the price, but shipping hurts.

      @@peterschief9778 yeah mate, I know what you mean. Im from Sydney and cant find anyone with the same interest to play board war games so pretty much have to rely on solitare games. It would be good to see this hobby grow in Australia to get more people playing.

      Are the 'Paddington Bears' still meeting in Paddington? That was a great wargame group back when I lived in Sydney.

      @@WiseGuyHistory I havent heard of the Paddington Bears as I only recently got into the hobby, but will check it out. Thanks.

    In terms of resources, the main Japanese effort undertaken in this period was Ichi-Go. Is there a scenario for that?

    • @WiseGuyHistory
      @WiseGuyHistory  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aside from the South Pacific Scenario, and the Full Campaign, the other scenarios are based on yearly deployment [1942, 1943, 1944, and then combined 42-43, 43-44, 42-44, 43-45, and 42-45.

    is this 4th printing or 3rd ? :P im confused

    • @WiseGuyHistory
      @WiseGuyHistory  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, 2nd Edition, 4th Printing, but they directly reprinted the box cover which shows '3rd Printing'. I think they only corrected minor rulebook errata without changing much else.

  • @rode8173
    @rode8173 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video, but the title of the video is incorrect. The newest version of Empire of the Sun is a 4th printing.

      @WiseGuyHistory  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, thanks Ro De, I've made a note of that in the description.

  • @razorlord2
    @razorlord2 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    it says third printing on the box...not 4th

    • @WiseGuyHistory
      @WiseGuyHistory  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, for for the 4th printing they directly copied the 3rd printing box, and cleaned up some minor errata. It is technically 4th printing.
