Thanks for the unboxing. Just an FYI for anyone purchasing EotS. Make sure you look at the which printing it is, 2nd or 3rd. The 2nd printing is on sale also. The GMT website has the differences are between both. Happy Gaming
As ridiculously complex and nerdy as it may be, it seems a simpler than Samurai. As an army guy though, it’s funny when I think about how these and other games don’t even come remotely close to real life in terms of complexity. Having said that, it seems like a well thought-out game, and I can’t wait to play my copy.
Even though they're depicting real historical conflicts, most of the gameplay is heavily abstracted. Otherwise, the game time would be ranked in years not hours. lol
"29 pages is not a tremendous amount" (of rules). LoL. Twenty nine pages may be less than what's found in some other high level wargames, but STILL, it's a LOT of rules. Especially when EVERY SINGLE sentence (in small font, BTW) in this rulebook counts.
Went in on a group buy last year and bought like 30 of them for my magazine games. Don't recall off the top of my head where they're from tho. Completely worth it if you have a lot of ziplock/magazine games. Holds two to a package, easily view able and much better than throwing them in a big box.

great showing with the new flow charts makes me want to get the new version
A classic worth getting IMO!
All the new charts are freely available online.
I believe you can get the new bot charts separately
What is Erasmus and what is groc (grog?)- as in “ you can groc that “?
Erasmus is the solo bot that comes with the game. Grok means to understand something.
