      Drone Supremacy can you make a mission off line? Or must you be connected to the drone?

      Oh nice! Thanks. How do you go about it? I can open waypoints without the drone connected.

      I'm hoping that you may be able to answer a few questions.
      1) does APAS work in waypoint mode?
      2) if APAS is enabled in waypoint mode, will the mavic avoid obstacles that are in between 2 waypoints?
      3) if the mavic is flying sideways due to a POI, will the side sensors detect the obstacle?
      An improvement that I would suggest on waypoint is that the app should be able to calculate if there is enough battery power to finish the mission (assuming that one starts the mission with a full charge). I wonder what would happen if the battery runs low within the mission.

    FYI: If you set the route to "ARC" there's an "Arc Radius" setting associated with each waypoint and it's defaulted to a very small value, which is essentially a slightly rounded corner on the otherwise segmented straight line path from one waypoint to the next. If you expand the radius out by dragging then you can cause the lines to flow smoothly with sweeping curves, like a Bezier curve, giving a less jerky motion at each waypoint. I haven't quite figured out what the "Unable to perform camera action with route set to ARC" message is actually trying to point out.

    Thank you very much for posting this video. I’ve been waiting for this feature to be available within the DJI app so I can let go of autopilot and litchi. However I am not at all happy with it. Footage is shaky and transition around the waypoints is very rough. On you vídeo i notice that just as the drone leaves waypoint one, footage is very shaky. I hardly ever get any of this shakiness with autopilot and/or litchi. I will try more tasks .

  • @OlegKorsak

    App (android) allows to create my route with 20 waypoints and 9 POI. But is unable to transfer it to Mavic 2 Pro. Looks like memory limit. Can you try such scenario? Also camera movement sucks sometimes when flying around POI through 2+ waypoints sticked to it

    Hey I really think you've done a great video tutorial about Waypoints 2.0. I really thought it was extremely useful! But I have a question about one of the settings you chose in the portion of the video that talks about "Route Settings". You're setting of "Continue Task" under "No RC Signal Action" doesn't make sense to me. If the aircraft loses signal and possibly doesn't re-gain connection (maybe you dropped the controller on the ground and it broke or for some random reason it just isn't able to re-gain connection) Wouldn't you want it to"Return-to-Home" instead of wandering aimlessly until the battery dies?

    • @guyincognito9938
      @guyincognito9938 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're right, he has the thing set to "hover" after it completes the tasks specified, which means that if it loses the signal it'll finish off the waypoint route and then hover in place until the battery dies. The ability to operate without a radio signal is extremely powerful, but presumably you'd want to make sure the drone knows to go home the moment it finishes the tasks.

    Really helpful! Maybe a “fail” for you BUT truly informative for me. Helped me understand the value and application of WayPoints. I’m often studying rooftops. So your height selection sparked a lot of great ideas for me; WayPoints to capture rooftop gardens, pools, decks, solar arrays, and cell towers. Best lesson? Plan my WayPoints at home and save time in the field. Thanks!!

    Great job! I too had trouble with selecting a POI without creating a new one. I ended up with a boat load of POI's and had to start over. Imagine if you really wanted 2 POI's near each other so that you can adjust the gimbal pitch from one waypoint to the next. My guess is that it would be very difficult to select either one without creating a bunch more. All in all I'm happy we have something to play with, and hopefully with future updates DJI will make this competitive to Litchi.

      Hey Don! Never had issues with the signal when flying from inside the car with the Mavic 2 Pro. Occusync 2.0 really does work wonders, because with other drones (Mavic Air, Spark) I couldn’t even think about it.

    Mike, do you need to have the drone "ON" and/or up in the air to be able to set up waypoints? i ask cause on Litchi you can plan missions while the drone is OFF and even via the litchi flight hub on any computer/tablet which is pretty convenient. Thanks!

    Need some instructional advice, please. I tried Waypoints on my MAVIC 2 Pro for the first time last weekend. I followed all the steps - set the point of interest, set each waypoint, pointed toward the point of interest, set to take a photo at each waypoint. When I launched my saved file, it went to each point but afterward I looked for the images and only saw a video of the entire route. Why didn’t it take photos like I set it to?

    Hi. Thank you for a great video. It makes me wonder if I can use Waypoints to assist my Mavic 2 Zoom in going from my house on the side of a small mountain to the top of the mountain. I can see the tower at the top from my driveway. There are no obstructions. As the crow flies the tower is about 1 1/2 miles away from my house with an elevation rise of about 800 feet. In other words, will the Mavic 2 Zoom GPS know how to keep the drone above the trees or will I have to fly manually and not use Waypoints or maybe TapFly. Do you have any suggestions? Maybe too FAA restrictions (500 ft.) would prevent the drone from increasing its altitude by 800 ft. from the launch site, not sure. It would only be about 200 feet above the ground all the way up.

  • @EYECRAFTVideo
    @EYECRAFTVideo 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey - Love the video - BUT can you set waypoints manually like the original mavic - I think its stupid setting waypoints via a map as you can frame your shot - is there a way to set accurately your frame height to get a perfect frame after all videography is a visually sport not a plotting art you make on a map?? Please, your knowledge will be very appreciated.

    its so annoying that Android apps STILL seem to lag even just a little bit behind iOS when it comes to updates. Can understand this in years gone by when popular Apps mostly started their lives on iOS but its pretty shoddy that this still happens today. A double sucker punch when you consider DJI prioritised iOS launch over Android when their very own expensive brand spanking new smart controller gets pushed to the back of the queue for Go4 updates. Sucks really.

    Is the WP altitude absolute (above sea level) or relative (to the drone's home location)? If it is relative, to reuse a WP route at the same elevation, you have to launch from the exact same elevation as last time?

    Hi Mike.
    I resolved my iPad Mini 4 issue.
    For those who are having a problem with waypoints not showing up on your iPad Mini 4 (as I did) , what you will need to do to make it show up, is to uninstall/reinstall the DJI GO 4 app and that worked.

      Drone Supremacy
      Hi Mike,
      I just found out that Waypoint 2 delivers another custom function to either the C1 or C2 buttons of your Mavic 2 remote, and that is Navigation. If you set C1 to Navigation, then here is how you can create a mission while flying.
      (1) Put your bird in the air;
      (2) Open the Waypoints flight mode;
      (3) Fly your bird to the first waypoint;
      (4) Press the C1 button on your remote controller. This will insert your first waypoint.
      (5) Fly your bird to the next waypoint and press C1 again. This will insert the next waypoint.
      (6) Repeat step five until you complete your mission.
      (7) Save your mission;
      (8) Now you can go back to edit the mission and adjust the parameters that you want.

    Can you fly your drone to a specific position, stablish the altitude, camera angle, etc., and "mark" that as a waypoint in the App? Or is the map the only way to stablish your flight route? Because looking at the map only is very imprecise, and you can encounter tree branches, or antennas, or any obstacle that wasn t in the map, resulting in a crash!

    Mike, started to create some missions but thought it would be great if you did a vid on the route settings screen, specifically the arc/poly line and the all waypoint direction fields showing what all the options do and how they affect the aircraft during the mission! Hopefully you’ll do this as it seems to be the only area that can be complicated understanding DJI’s thought process. As a side note I noticed that you can still create missions with the mavic turned off to save battery power, after entering the waypoints screen in the app. Thanks Mike!

    Hi Mike, dyou know if is it mandatory to connect and keep switched on the Mavic 2 in order to program a waypoints mission? In case yes then it seems to be somehow odd, doesen't it? With Bebop 2 you might perform more or less the same actions with the drone switched off. Thanks!

    • @DroneSupremacy
      @DroneSupremacy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can simply turn on the drone at home, connect to it, enter waypoints and start working on them, then simply turn off the drone to save the battery life, and you'll be able to continue working on your waypoint project. then simply save it and load it again once you go to your location :)

    • @fp3679
      @fp3679 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DroneSupremacy That's exactly what I find annoying: you forcelly need to keep the dron on and stay connected in order to enter waypoints and define a flight plan... on other drone's not like this, but anyway...
      Other fact to be taken into account while defining a flight plan is that heights are RELATIVE values, and not real absolute values. This might be a problem in certain cases where you don't know the height of a certain point (let's say a mountain's peak) and you need to create the flight plan. Other Apps include absolute height maps. Maybe with the time DJI adds some more features like this.
      On the other hand... did you try to set waypoints with NEGATIVE height? This might be useful when flying below the takeoff point.
      Thanks for your great tutorials!

      When D-LOG M is activated, the image on your phone looks very desaturated. By tapping that little color square you'll see what a color grade of your footage might look like (more contrast & saturation) while still recording D-LOG M files.

    Not sure if you tried it or one of the other viewers have, but waypoints is not available on the iPad mini with the exact same version (and latest release) of the DJI GO 4 App, and hopefully it will be there in the next DJI GO4 app release.

      Hi Daniel;
      I did have the latest version, and I still had to uninstall/reinstall it before it worked.
      A number of things could be causing this, and that could be that the app was installed prior to an Apple iOS update or the app did not get updated properly which has happened to me with other apps.
      In any event, my intention was that for those people who do have the latest app update and still can’t see the Waypoints, by removing and reinstalling the GO app seems to fix the issue.

    Let’s say drone following waypoints along coastal road 30 feet above ground. Then next waypoint off cliff 70 feet high.
    Do you have to reset altitude estimating how high you are from bottom of cliff to keep drone from dropping down to new lower ground? How can you keep drone at same level going off cliff if you have no idea how high cliffs are?

    It would be nice if we could import missions from Litchi into DJI Go4App. Where does it save the waypoints to? If it is the phone and I switch to a tablet do I loose my waypoint settings? DJI should come up with a web based version of Waypoints so we can plan routes and download them to our app.

    • @DroneSupremacy
      @DroneSupremacy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree all the way. Litchi has it figured out when it comes to planning a mission. Hopefully DJI will follow, because planning on a tiny phone screen is not ideal

      GSpro 2.0 has it for Mavic 2 but that's iOS only.

  • @DaveBowman
    @DaveBowman 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you pre-program this while not connected to the drone and then just upload it when you reach your location? Does the drone need to be in the air when you start the mission or will it accept it and then take-off? Can you share the mission between devices i.e. can you program it on an ipad and then share it to your iphone? The footage between waypoint 1 & 2 seemed a bit jerky, as well as when the drone crossed over waypoints and changed height. Autopilot used to be the best app for pre-programmed waypoint missions but it looks like that’s no longer being developed. This DJI offering still looks a little bit clunky.

    • @uptowndisco2
      @uptowndisco2 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need to start the waypoint app while the mavic is connected but you can then switch off the mavic leave controller on and continue planning your mission , when happy save it for later , the plan is not shared between devices which is a pity.

    • @DaveBowman
      @DaveBowman 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      uptowndisco2 Thanks for clarifying. Sounds as though it still needs some work then. The lack of ability to share a plan between devices is a big minus.

    • @uptowndisco2
      @uptowndisco2 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DaveBowman you could copy across manually if needed . Saved missions are stored in a file named waypoints.db in the location where DJI GO is installed on your mobile device. You can manually back up that file if you have important missions that you don't want to risk losing.

      @@DroneSupremacy the naming "custom route" is quite counterintuitive of DJI as it actually sets the camera direction, not the route so it is quite likely that people will be confused about that feature.
