I think Antony Starr should at the very least, be nominated for an Emmy.. Such a good actor, carrying on the whole show as main antagonist.. Every expression of his character speaks.. Really talented actor.

That’s pretty chilling. I can’t wait to see how Ryan’s story will go. Will the time he spend being raised by his mother influence him at all, or will he chose the easy way Homelander did? Intimidate everyone and go on with your life? So much potential there

3 seasons done and I'm still beyond amazed by Anthony Starr's Homelander portrayal.
I stg, I would hate it if he doesn't get many more roles this interesting after this. He's so talented, as the boys has proven, and I'd love to see him get to even more high profile in the future. And I just add this because I'm a nerd, but would love to see him in the mcu (not typecast off of the boys tho, but still a complex enough role for him to be able put in his all) as long as it not just something like "he was homelander so he'll be syntry", I'd like him to be a completely different character personality wise

Jensen Ackles killed it. He was the best part of season 3 and his character was super badass!! Hopefully he returns in S4

S4 Soldier Boy will de-power homelander in presidential office in which he will be lasered by his grandson but will survive until Noir decapitates him and then kills his grandson to which Butcher will kill Noir and then Homelander, and eventually Butcher will kill the Boys. I like how Kripke put it at the end. Ryan choosing Homelander isn't the kid's failing, it's Butcher's.
Ryan gets hit and when he wakes up, he sees Homelander caring for him. If Ryan hadve seen Butcher caring for him, he wouldve went with Butcher

Soldier Boy was the only one that kept up his part of the deal. I am glad that he didn't die because now he can show up in future possible storylines when it's need. When it comes to Homelander, no matter how much he loves Ryan I have zero sympathy for him.

Yeah honestly I felt the team was extremely dumb for not letting soliderboy kill homelander. Even though alot of people would die it would save alot of people from the terror homeland could create. Also butcher is such a scum bag. Solider boy forsaked his own son and grandson but you can't let one little boy maybe die to save millions.

The acting in this season was fantastic across the board, everyone killed it. I think Antony Starr was the clear stand out though, the range he showed this season is incredible. The mirror scene alone is just amazing.
I think Karl Urban had a better performance.

The only weak performance is Erin's as Annie/Starlight. I don't know if this is the nature of the character/the script or her acting, I just know that keeping her as a central character is a mistake.

Black Noir has superhuman regenerative abilities. If they can save A-Train from his heart implosion then they should be able to stuff the innards back into Black Noir and let nature take its course... also Maeve somehow did not die even though she became powerless during the Soldier Boy blast and yet she still fell from hundreds of stories and survived. Either this is bad writing or me thinks Maeve still has her powers.

Lol, all of you are wrong. Soldier Boy was called a dissapointment by his father and he was like fuck this guy. He is dissapointed that someone who is essentialy his clone and stronger didn't think the same way and kept wanting his father's approval.
@@7daimeHokage nobody's right or wrong we all have opinion and all of us observe things differently, we don't know where the writers are coming from with what they put out we can just take it as a we see it, so you cannot tell anybody that they're wrong. Their is arguments to prove both of us right or wrong meaning that as a child a parent telling a child that they are disappointment it can either make the child become more stronger or you can make the child weaker and believe what the parent is telling them. From my observation it's showing Soldier Boy on the weaker sense that he believes that he's weak although he acts strong he is weak minded.
People were so disappointed that Black Noir never got to fight Soldier Boy, but the whole point of that arc was Erving gathering his courage to confront soldier boy, and homelander even though they both scare the crap out of him, he still got himself together like the hero he always wanted to be.

@ashy well in the comics noir is the only supe to be able to take on homelander 1v1 I think that is also why people want noir to fight people with a high level of strength. He may still be alive and come back stronger and live that fantasy for people where homelander always looks over his shoulder for noir “the silent assassin”

Kimoko's fight scenes this season have been some of the best in the show. She looked really skilled at kicking ass, like a genuine martial artist.

I'm not a fan of Kimiko fight scenes because she fights humans, where she clearly has the advantage being a supe. Then you see her attempt to fight soldier boy and gets violently taken out. Kinda pathetic.

Dude... the cartoon characters were such a brilliant touch. Because they managed to take a character that seemed heartless and souless ... and made me feel for him after that. That literally almost made me tear up when he was dying. and I never wouldve thought that earlier on in the show.
You could argue that Ryan saved Butcher, because he makes Homelander leave instead of fighting Butcher.
I love this series. The script and acting are not cheap. Good character development.

But just felt like a lot of plotlines weren't wraped up this season, which might honestly be intentional but I feel like there are certain things that should have been settled this season. Now at least another year for just 8 more episodes... just feels like the plot is just inching by.
I love how Erin Moriarty talks about starlight in the first person. You can really tell how much she understands and empathizes with her character!!!

NOTHING HAPPENED THIS SEASON!!! The characters literally ended up where they began! NOTHING HAPPENED!!! But people are so stupid that they think just because there were a bunch of explosions and loud noises and nudity that the story was actually moving forward!! People are stupid! NOTHING CHANGED!!!
Starlights powerup was cool, but seemed SOOOO weak for how long it took, it knocked SB like 3 meters away and he got a little shaken up, then got right back to fight like cmon. Feel like they didnt want her to defeat him right there so maeve can get her scene.
In my mind its more to set up how she will take down homelander in a civil war type situation. She was just feeding off the lights an computers, imagine if they lead homelander to a nuclear reactor or some super hero who can put out alot of electricity
For sure. They could have had him be alot more messed up. He is strong so him getting back up even while hurt could have still let the rest of the scene play out the same with Maeve taking him out the window.

I love getting 'Clark Kent' Antony Star for these interviews.
They did both Black Noir and Soldier Boy real dirty in the finale. Soldier Boy could have been written much better though Jensen owned the character and every single frame he was in and that is saying something when he was alongside series regulars like Karl Urban and Antony Starr.
Can we agree that the show needs a bit more episodes per season? Make it 13 just like breaking bad and give it enough time to move the plot forward.
I feel 13 would be too much and might cause episodes to feel more like filler. I think 10 might be the sweet spot for a show like the boys.

Ya, I do not get how Maeve did not die. Soldier Boy took her powers as he exploded. Which the Explosion and the Fall. Either one would of killed her as a normal human. And she did not look really hurt at all. At the very least she look worse then Black Noir. Some weird off writing in some spots. Like, the spot with homelanders crowed should of all been wearing Blue Hats. That make fit way more with what going on today. And how mental homelander is would fit how biden is. Same type of smiles too. Creepy.

It doesn't make any sense for that crowd to be blue, given that republicans are the ones that act like that (hence why the Jan 6 guy was there). The anti-democrat satire in the show is Bobby Singer, the potential president, and is more representative of people like Obama and Clinton than he is Biden. The particular aspect of the democrats that's made fun of is their corrupt links to the military complex, shown in the show through Singer's links with Vought

Hands down funniest part of the entire show was when soldier boy and huey encountered a priest and nun. Cant wait for more next season!

“If and when there is a season 4” conformed! Nathen Mitchell might get recast as Black Noir. I mean Soldier Boy is a legacy hero in the comics played by different people. Wouldn’t be that much of a stretch if Black Noir became a legacy character played again or if Nathan becomes a new supe in whole either way I’m freaking excited!

Was Black Noir even publicly revealed by Vought to be dead? His name wouldn't even need to be passed on officially. Just stick a supe "double" (still Nathan) in the suit and tell him never to talk. It could be a really funny storyline if Nathan's new Noir has trouble adjusting to his role.

The cast, crew, everyone was on fire this season. Amazing... brilliant, brilliant season. The fight scenes were tight and so well edited & directed.
And ofcourse, Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy. I knew he was going to be amazing but he was just. PERFECT. He looked SO GOOD as SB, sounded great, worked on his cadence, Soldier Boy's look, his humour was deadpan & delivery was dry and hilarious, the way he carried himself, his action scenes were awesome. So proud of him!

Yes and he was still gruff and macho but managed to somehow be a totally different character than Dean Winchester with different mannerisms and everything.

No mention of Queen Maeve??? My FAV character who made the big Hero sacrifice fully expecting to die but getting what she really wanted instead...Glad she got her happy ending, even if it cost her an eye in the process!
Every character is protagonist and antagonist at the same time. They have their own perspectives and motives. That's why i love 'The Boys' so much...proudly finished 3 seasons in a week 😁....

Jensen is so naturally funny, for those that watched SN know and to see that really exemplified with Soldier Boy was so awesome. He absolutely killed it and deserves to be huge
The fact that after everything Homelander has done, I still felt a tinge of pity when he weeps after finding out Noir knew about Soldier Boy. Makes me so appreciative of Antony Stars acting.
Your biggest mistake was speeding through Noir's backstory, then killing him. Even if he gets replaced as it's been rumored, it won't be the same because it's not the Noir fans have grown to love.

Instead of losing more of the seven, I think Homelander will just have some guy wearing the suit pretending to be Noir to not raise alarm of more heroes leaving/dying.

Season 4 needs more Soldier Boy
Episode 8 was the weakest episode so far this season.
*The anticlimactic death of Noir
*the team betraying Soldier Boy
*the inclusion of Ryan
*A-Train having nothing to do during the fight
*Starlight’s goofy power up scene (felt like a straight parody)
*Kimiko straight up brutally murdering security guards even though her whole arc is her trying not to be a monster
*Maeve and Homelander having such such a terrible fight sequence before they dramatically have her jump off the building to save everyone (again felt corny)
*Everything in the end returning to status quo
This season was really good. But this finale was hella mid, they put the pieces in place, but felt rushed and wasn’t executed well. Herogasm was way better honestly.
Let's imagine a scenario where SB and the team did kill Homelander together, what would the team do after that just let SB go on his merry way and kill other civilians along the way as a dickhead Supe? Their entire goal is about taking down those types of Supes.

I disagree, I thought the inclusion of Ryan and the team turning on soldier boy was interesting because i never expected homelander and butcher to be fighting on the same side for once. I also disagree about the Maeve and homelander fight sequence, I thought it was very cool to watch maeve and homelander fight 1 on 1 and it was choreographed well in my opinion (like all the fight scenes in this show tbh), also Maeve finally fighting homelander was an important part of her character arc considering her resentment and hatred of him has just been growing and growing throughout the series.
However I agree with all your other points (especially the starlight one, she’s supposed to be one of the strongest supes yet her power up basically did nothing LFMAO, seems like a wasted opportunity to showcase her power, especially considering her power is pretty unique). I don’t think the finale was bad at all and I personally enjoyed it, but I do agree it could have been better.
I feel bad for Soldier Boy. Going back to where he didn't want to be.
I really don't feel bad lol he pushed away anyone that has any sort of connection with him: HL tryna be his son, and Butcher just cause he didn't want Ryan to be collateral. He's really only in it for himself, even when he has a chance to break the cycle of fatherly abuse rip
@@AUniqueName I agree soldier boy did this to himself, and soldier boy definitely had it a long time coming with how he treated the rest of his team members in payback, however no matter how much homelander loves his son, and no matter how much homelander wants soldier boy and him to be family, I can’t feel any sympathy for homelander because he’s still straight up evil LMFOA.
Homelander loving his son does not excuse the horrific acts of brutality and violence he has committed in the past (and present), however it does add a lot of depth to his character.
Butcher and Homelander both laser eyeing Soldier Boy was fantastic and showed that they're both sides of the same coin!
The look they gave each other when they realized they were fighting on the same side was priceless.
And it was interesting that in the end the laser eyes are actually crap weapons against strong supes! SB wasn't affected at all: even by a blast to the face point blanc Nor by a double dose, only his equipment.
And even Maeve wasn't much fazed by HL lasering her torso!
We've been conditioned to see the laser eyes as this monstrous power because we've seen what they inflict on numerous normal ppl and the odd sidekick supe. But against the A-listers? They're ineffective.

She's sbsorbing all the energy out of the light bulbs. right? They black out for the time she's using them. It would have looked great and people wouldn't be complaining as much as they are now about all that build up being for nothing.
Her attack looked like small explosion rather than concentrated blast, based on physics I guess concentrated blast would be much more powerful than explosion with force going everywhere at once
I think the take-away from that scene was to show that Starlight has the capability of flight. One of the things Homelander has over the 7 and The Boys has been his ability to fly and now he is not the only one. Maeve mentioned this at the end of the episode in what seemed to be a figurative nature, but I believe she was talking about Annie's physical superhero abilities as well.

I am actually a little disappointed that they did not push Soldier Boys Character to more extremes, I mean compare to Homelander, who we got a lot more character development. I wanted them to show the origin of Soldier Boy and the atrocities that he has committed, but they mostly just talk about it and Jensen's interaction with Karl and Jack does not reveal much. Let hope Jensen comes back for season 4 and get some more development!
Jensen got signed on to do season 3 of the show Big Sky so they will have to work around his schedule. Hopefully he can do more in season 4 or 5.

SB acknowledges his failures and he doesn't want that to happen with Homelander given he had raised him. HL grew up in lab and never had parents to look for examples of bad and good parenting.

They didn't. All we saw was slow, but for the characters it was in matter of a few seconds. All he could do is to cover him.

I got literally triggered by Homelander's plot armor this episode. Its like her stopped being the antagonist and became the protagonist. 1st saved by Ryan, 2nd time by Butcher, and 3rd time Maeve, rather than kill him, saves the Boys because at just the wrong moment they are in trouble... god dammit man. I wish Butcher would have just grabbed Ryan and took him to another room and left Homelander with Maeve and SB... they would have killed him.

Butcher can't just grab Ryan, Ryan has powers. Butcher tried to tell Ryan to leave but he refused. If Butcher then tried to grab Ryan, Ryan not only wouldn't have let him, but likely could have hurt him. So Butcher did the only thing he could, which was prevent Soldier Boy from hurting Ryan. Also, Maeve was incapable of killing homelander
HL loved Noir. HL killed Noir for betraying him hiding the father he wished he had but now that HL knows how bad SB is I hope he regrets his actions
Saaaame. I hope Earving comes back as some sort of hallucination like the Ghost of Christmas Future to remind Homelander that his actions have consequences, even with the final scene. He didn’t need to kill Earving, nor did he particularly want to, so having come back as such a reminder of intentionally killing someone he liked over a short-lived disagreement about his dad (which Earving was right about in the first place) will definitely drive him off the edge and into self-destruction that is long overdue

If Noir wasn't coming back then the faceless actor would've been the one to show his face, he didn't because he was basically told he could play the new Noir if he's not the one that dies. Basically he's going to play the new guy in the Noir costume and he will have a different face to the one who died, despite him being the original actor in the costume.
If it's only flashbacks they wouldn't have got a different actor to be his face since it would be the same guy. This way it's likely that there will be a new Black Noir played by the original actor

I’ll be honest, after the big things in episode 6/7 I felt underwhelmed by the finale when I first saw it. But I always watch reaction channels, and going through it again I’m realizing just how much did change with this finale. I’m happy with it now. It didn’t hold major revelations, but it showed a lot of character growth for multiple characters. Frenchie, Kimiko, and MM all gained confidence in themselves, Hughie finally got over his issues and literally powered up Starlight over taking the V24 himself.
Meanwhile The Seven are now three, two of which seem about ready to either run from the life or lose it all to a tell all book, so really just Homelander. The people who are on his side will stay there no matter what he does, but the public also knows he’ll kill somebody in (mostly) cold blood and now he probably won’t be denying it. But it also shows how much he loves Ryan. Genuinely cares for him. Now, I have no doubts that if he had a son that was 100% supe, he’d probably care more for that kid. But all the same when Ryan hits soldier boy off him, after having his actual biological father tell him he’s a disappointment, his first action is to go tell Ryan to go back upstairs. Then once Ryan is hit and on the ground, Homelander pays no attention at all to the mounting attack behind him, even though he knows it would take his power, and puts 100% of his focus on checking to see if Ryan is okay. Finally when he could confront and likely kill Butcher, the thorn in his side, he chooses to acquiesce to Ryan wanting to leave. He’s fucked up, he’s a villain, but he does genuinely care about his son.
Maeve completed her arc, going from the disillusioned hero who can’t see light in the world anymore, who will compromise everything of her value to survive, to putting everything into fighting Homelander and then giving up her power and making the sacrifice play. Even if she did survive, she jumped out that window knowing full well it may kill her. Sure, nobody was in the building at the time, but she saved probably everybody in that fight, putting her own personal vendetta aside, in an inverse of how she let everybody on the plane die so Homelander would save her.
The Boys offers a very complex perspective on superheroes. While the comic books portrayed them as mostly horrible monsters who use the world and other people as their own playthings, the show gives a background to how someone becomes that monster and why they are as such. Homelander is one of the best villains in TV history because his past makes him a malignant narcissist, someone who desperately wants to belong in a world which he can easily destroy. He's insecure and weak, but beholden with great power. Him killing the liberal protester to the cheers of his followers takes off his mask and season 4 will reveal Homelander without his facades. No more hiding behind a smile and a "No, YOU'RE the real heroes!" quips. He's now unhinged and uncensored. Season 4 will definitely end with him killing Victoria Neuman at the White House, similar to the comic books.
Guess who is going to finally kill Homelander? I bet Soldier Boy.

Superman in comics wasn't perfect from the very start and he would do some stupid things.
The Boys show is lame sitcom or average CW garbage but with gore. That's it. It had pretense that it was something more in Season 1, but it is all gone now. Now people clearly see the asinine story telling that will continue itself, with characters doing most stupidest things just so show can have more and more seasons. And then spin offs.

A-train was the most despicable character I had ever seen in season 1 and by season 3 he had completely redeemed himself and had me feeling empathetic towards him.
Every other show just has cartoon villains and it's good vs evil. The Boys has no evil characters. They're all flawed humans with changing motivations who make constant mistakes and act selfishly.

SB and Noir are my favourite characters. I thought I lost both of them in the same episode (Noir being disemboweled and killed and SB getting thrown out of a window by Maeve). Having Kripke confirm that Noir is returning and knowing that SB lives makes me so happy. W show.

My gripes with the finale are these.. I wish noir would've got a chance to confront soldier boy. Not sure how maeve survived soldier boys blast unless she yeeted off of him last second.. sucks soldier boy got put back in that chamber. Feel like there was a lot of missed opportunity with him in this episode / this whole season. Sure they can bring him back but everything was so hyped up about him this season it just kinda seemed lack luster to me how SB got put back how he was at the start of the season
I mean, you see Maeve right until the explosion. And she also would have fallen from quite a height. She should absolutely be dead, but I’m glad they clearly decided to go back and add a scene of her being alive. She deserves a happy ending (yes, I’m convinced that scene was added way later. That was definitely framed as a death scene when she jumped out with SB)
The main plot of the whole season was using soldier boy to take out homelander and it was pretty much completely pointless in the end. Ryan barely even shows up this season but him and homelander together will be a big part of next season with no build up. Barely anything that happened this season affects the next

@@aidenboyle3573 Actually in another interview Eric Kripke says that even though Maeve originally gets killed in the comics he was always sure he would not kill her off, both because he likes the character and also because he didn't want to add to the "kill the lgbtq character" trope.

Why couldn't Butcher just let soldier boy blast homelander 😒 I wanted to see homelander with no powers next season desperate to get them back.
He can easily get access to compound V… so it wouldn’t be as interesting as you think.
So you have Maeve who is literally strong enough plough through an armoured bank truck and take machine gun fire and Homie who would have been able to lift up a plane if only he had a place to stand on... And the fight that you give these two sticks to one room? Come on ! Walls for these two are just interrupting paper sheets.
Now Homelander might be holding back, but that doesn't mean she is.. She is going full on and the things she's punching should either rip apart or break into something two rooms away to convey an impact. That would have made the fight realistic like the rest of the series.
I felt this last episode was rushed to a conclusion. Everyone also seemed to end things as if they had done a good thing by defeating Soldier Boy, but the goal was and had always been Homelander. Them suddenly accepting victory over Soldier Boy instead of Homelander seemed awkward to me.
