    Just a note about getting around quickly. You can use multiple jetpack equipment in your thruster suit to fly around faster! I use three and am able to fly faster than a train.
    Another is that you can recycle the barrels into the steel you can use for any production or recycle them back to Nauvis for barrels again.
    I filled all of the steps in Vulcanite production with productivity modules to minimize water usage, and I'll be sending ice instead of water barrels because they are more compact and don't require dealing with the extra barrels.

    Last episode: "I'm going to put all this ice in a box instead of erasing it in case I need it later."
    This episode: "I forsee five trains worth of water barrels per rocket being unsustainable for a planet with long night cycles and no water."

      It's a weird sensation to have my words lined up like that. Two things I definitely said, at the time in all seriousness, which have subsequently not aged well.
      Probably won't be the last time.

    There are special condenser turbines for nuclear power that recycle the steam back into water reducing water consumption significantly. Also keep in mind for the future all planets have different ratios of daytime to night so you can't rely on vanilla solar panel to accumulator ratio it will be different with each planet. There is a solar calculator mod specifically for se to give you the correct ratio.

    I know I am kinda late but remember that one rocket silo can send to multiple planets as long as the landings have the same name. Many people don't know that but its extremally important, as for example volcanite will be needed everywhere
    Edit: you will eventually also need not only blocks of volcanite for some process I don't remember

      @theotherbigfoot  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I go into this in the next episode. I'm not gonna do single rockets to multiple planets though, the plan at the moment is that each route will be unique and specific to a particular purpose. This shouldn't require extra rocket parts, it should be the same number of rockets, just launched from several silos instead of one.

    Vulcanite blocks make good train fuel. Also there is a rocket fuel recipe that uses pyroflux or some other material from vulcanite processing I don't remember exactly but that's how I fueled my vulcanite block rockets.

    QoL tip: When in satelyte view, at the botom left you have a meny with the name of the surface you are loking at and 4 buttons. The 3rd button moves your view to the planet and the 4th to the orbit of that planet (insetad of going to the planets list, selecting the planet/orbit and see surface). You can cycle betewwn your last visited surfaces with the arrows.
    When in the list of planets, at the side of "view surface" are other options, one of them has a satelyte icon, it will start scaning that surface and in a few minutes all the map will be explored.
    Scafolding saving tip (read if interested): A deconstruction planer configured to only remove scafolding will make bots recolect all the scafolding without any building on it, so that it can be used where it is needed.
    In the tresure cache found with your first science rocket launch are 3 requester chests

    • @theotherbigfoot
      @theotherbigfoot  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Those 3 requester chests that I have are so precious I can't use them!! I'm going to run conveyor belts of inserters, pumps and storage tanks to rocket parts and remove the need for requester chests. I think I have enough room.
      Everything else you say; amazing.

      @@theotherbigfoot glad they are useful, trying not to say anything about the industrial preocesses themselves or my learned lessons for you to enjoy XD.
      That vulcanite planet with iridium (needs enriched vulcanite) no biters (allways happy not to have them) and close to nauvis (less rocket fuel per rocket) is great by the way. It seems you picked a good seed (you can not know it before launching rockets). The only way to be better would be with water, but vulcanite + water is one of the most difficult combinations to find, your strugle with the water is something everyone goes through (which makes sense in a volcanic planet).

    Hi Bigfoot, great video, and as always it is interesting to see and hear your thought process behind your designs.
    In no way I want to spoil or backseat anything, but I feel this relatively obscure early game building, the recycler has "eluded" you and deprived you of the possibilities it offers.
    The recipes it offers open even more avenues.
    Hopefully this was non-spoilery, but descriptive enough to peak your interest.
    Very much looking forward to your rocket automation strategies.

      I think what you suggesting is to recycle the barrels into steel and then transport those instead. I hear you. You are right. But I'm gonna stick with barrels anyway. My only justification is that I need to do at least one of the things I would have done anyway without outside assistance. I need to do at least one stupid thing and the hill I have chosen to die on is barrels.
      The solution to the water issue, however, is ice. That is a suggestion I am going to take on board.

    • @TheJapie89

      @@theotherbigfoot It is the avenue I was reffering to, but not as a suggestion. The only suggestion I'd ever make for any content creator is to create their own content, in their own way.
      I just didn't want you to miss out on a piece of the puzzle. Especially after I saw your " factor 3 " conclusion on the water to petroleum ratio.
      That ice thing I will have to try out myself too :)
      Also what a funny expression, that one, I haven't heard before.

      @@TheJapie89 In most instances I am open to suggestions. I've learnt a lot from the comments on my videos. I guess its just barrels, I like barrels, I like the challenge of dealing with them.
      I think it's a reference to the war in Vietnam, I'm currently working through a really deep documentary series (Ken Burns) and I think the language from there has followed me here.

    what about more landing/launch pads? is a single point of entry and exit sorta the standart or the only choice?

    • @theotherbigfoot
      @theotherbigfoot  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      More landing/launch pads definitely an option but rockets are expensive and there is a benefit to be had by being economical with them. I've had to pause playing the game while I take in all these comments, don't really know what the route forward is at the moment.
