This wood carving is a decorative woodcarving adorning a float used in the rituals of the Tomishima Shrine in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan.
This is a wood carving of a story from the Kibune Shrine in Kyoto because Tomishima Shrine enshrines the deity of Kibune Shrine.
    The story goes as follows.
    • SAMURAI vs DEMON / Woo...
The story continues from the video above.
"Watanabe Tsuna returned with the arm and showed it to his lord Minamoto no Yorimitsu. Surprised, Yorimitsu summoned the yin-yang master Abe no Seimei.
Abe no Seimei ordered the arm of the demoness to be sealed tightly, Tsuna to be under house arrest for seven days, and to read the Niou-kyo Sutra as a prayer."
I interpreted this story in my own way to create this wood carving.
The floats paraded at Shinto festivals in this region are decorated with wood carvings, metal works, and embroideries depicting Japanese mythology, battles (mainly before the Edo period), and auspicious animals.

Idiots on ticktock get millions of likes, then you have genuine talent, producing beautiful artwork, and you get barely anything. Ridiculous world we live in. Love your art work, my friend. 👍🏻👏🏻👊🏻🧡

I think it's because Japanese people are originally from the culture of sitting on the floor.

      人によっていろいろやり方があると思うので一概には言えません。今回の動画のものは下絵を先に描き、それを木に写しています。

Boxwood also called Lime wood. It doesn't grow very big, this why he pieces or glues things. It is both soft and hard and has a magnificent grain for detail and a lovely surface. The wood almost never cracks or shrinks. Was used in the West for religious carvings, too.
