    Damn you guys are so chill. I'm a 2nd year PT student and trust me it's fucking hard. Anatomy, Kines, and Physiology are so in-depth sometimes comparing to proper medicine. You're gonna be studying every part and corner of your bones and their motions. EVERY BIT. So if you're gonna pursue it make sure that you really want it.

    I'd love to see some studying techniques you all use (what/how you study on your tablets vs. paper and so on)! I am still in undergrad but trying to develop my study habits prior to PT school.

    Weird question, but will you be dealing with science courses ( chemistry, biology, physics) in the DPT program ? The reason I'm asking is because I just graduated with a bachelor's in kinesiology but although I got through my science courses with a B grade I had such a hard time with them that I don't really remember anything we learned in them. So I'm thinking if I'm going to be dealing with science courses again in the dpt program if I should go back and retake the classes so I could understand them better. Or is it a case where you won't be dealing with them in the program, that once you've gotten through them in your undergrads it's behind you and you won't have to deal with them again.. therefore I won't have to go back and retake them. And I can just proceed on.
    Btw thanks for making those videos. They're a big help.

    • @ShearnKunal
      @ShearnKunal  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      you wont be dealing with classes like chemistry or physics if thats what you mean. but if you're having trouble with kinesiology then we'd suggest to retake that because thats a huge part of PT. other than that, nothing like the undergrad classes you took!

    • @bbetros
      @bbetros 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ShearnKunal I see. So just to be sure, if i don't really remember too much from chemistry and physics that wouldnt hold me back from still being able to manage in pt program correct ?
      And thanks for responding

    Love the vlog - great insight as to what you guys are going through!
    Earned my bachelors about two years ago and I'm currently working on finishing prereqs to get into PT school. Curious as to what you guys do for income? Is working during PT school even going to be an option or is the grad student stereotype as real as I fear it to be?

    • @ShearnKunal
      @ShearnKunal  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Christina Valente working during school is pretty tough! However, it can definitely be done but you definitely need a job that provides very flexible hours! Usually helps if you hold a job at the school cuz they’ll understand the struggle lol

    what song is 1:13 ??? and i was thinking to become a PT but idk exactly what i want because i want to get a masters degree in physical therapy or nursing & i heard that now you need a doctoral or professional degree to be a PT. Im kinda trying to avoid to get a doctoral degree because not only its like ALOT of schooling but its also alot more money. Is there any way to become a PT with a masters degree? and if not what career jobs do u think that i can do with a master degree in physical therapy? because i honestly want a job that has to do something with hands on and physically help/save people's lives rather than doing (paper) work on a desk

    • @tannersearcy5343
      @tannersearcy5343 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sorry this is late, but all schools in the US only offer DPT (doctorate of physical therapy) programs, so you cant practice pt with a masters anymore. It's only 3 years (1 more than a masters) so its not too bad in that regard

      Luciana LittleMonster glad you liked the vlog! 😃 I actually TA for anatomy and my simple advice would be to 1. Put in tons of time 2. Use memorization tricks like coming up with stories or word association (linking a word to a memory) or coming up with something funny. The funnier the better! Awesome to have someone watching from Mexico! ❤️

      JM YABUT are you talking about Ocular Inspection? Like what to look out for when first meeting a patient? because if that's what it is then the things you should study for are Posture and Gait analysis, ambulation, Alertness level of patient. These things have a standard like using a plumb line for posture, grading for patient's alertness level 😀

    It's intriguing to see what you PT students get up to across the pond.
    I'm pretty sure Physical Therapy is very similar or even the American equivalent of Physiotherapy, but I think you focus a little more on MSK injuries?

    • @ShearnKunal
      @ShearnKunal  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brianne Bernard it was in Biology! I think it did for the more science heavy classes! I however, didn’t get experience into movement science related classes and kinesiology. But you pick up on it fast ☺️ I’d say major in what you’re interested in!

    • @briannebernard4263

    • @ShearnKunal
      @ShearnKunal  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brianne Bernard other than kinesiology, I think biomechanics would be a good class to take if you can take it! That’ll give you a really good foundation in how the body moves

    So you guys are going for a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, huh?! I'm looking into this because I've always loved sports AND helping people! Sooooo anyways, did you first begin with earning an A.S. as a PTA? Or is it a completely different route for a PT?

    • @ShearnKunal
      @ShearnKunal  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      We went straight from undergrad into PT! You could definitely work first as a PTA and then apply for PT school but we were fortunate enough to be able to go from undergrad to PT School. Sometimes people do PTA first to make some money and pay off debts because PTA program is shorter. In the end it all comes down to what works best for you ☺️

      I’m on the path towards becoming a PT, just finished an associates in Kinesiology & now at a 4 year university I’ll be majoring in Exercise Science (path towards PT) with a minor in Biology, not sure if all schools offer a “path focus towards” but it’s good to talk with advising to get you on the right path so you are prepared :)
