Risso’s Dolphin and Short-Beaked Common Dolphin Mixed Species Pod
A few weeks ago on July 27th, Girtz Prizevs sent us a video he captured of a juvenile Risso’s Dolphin swimming amongst a pod of Short-Beaked Common Dolphins. Although this has been observed in other parts of the world, this was the first interaction of its kind reported in Manx waters!
Further to that, a few weeks later on August 16th, pods of both species were seen associating together West of the Sound.
Thanks to everyone who reported their sightings and sent in their footage, we have been able to put together a video timeline leading up to the sighting of this mixed species pod.
