Hey! Thanks to everyone who has expressed appreciation in my intentionally different, more neutral-than-usual approach to several aspects of Part 2 compared to Part 1 (which has more of my direct opinions)! As I said in this video, this story isn’t black and white to me, so in fairness, my goal specifically with this video is to showcase as many different perspectives as possible (whether I agree with them or not), as much of the internet’s opinions continue to evolve. Point, counterpoint, and devil’s advocate. Don’t get it twisted: just because I present multiple perspectives, doesn’t mean they’re MY opinions. I haven’t seen this approach done on coverage of this story, and I think that’s the best way for me to document just how varied everyone’s thoughts are! I love seeing the countless respectful comments that are open to seeing multiple sides of the coin (even if you don’t agree), so thank you for continuing that dialogue in a respectful manner! I appreciate you all! (incoming: usual links below):

That's why I blocked her as soon as she became popular because I honestly don't care to give her any more attention. She needs to heal from a place of self reflection, which in her case may be detrimental to her own well being. It's a tough draw, in the end were all just trying to survive.

As a special education teacher I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the fact that a special ed teacher would purposely seek out a person guaranteed to be emotionally and educationally stunted due to life long trauma is the hugest red flag. Bring me the red flag guy.
We are trained in trauma informed care. We are aware of the effects of long term trauma on children and the adults they become.

Let’s not forget she was already an “influencer”!! She and her mother had a facebook page together and she had quite a large following. She would do many interviews with her mom, and go to comic conventions and stuff-which would most definitely attribute to her being so articulate. People would send her gifts/donations and stuff, and her and her mother would post a lot. I’m so surprised nobody has pointed that out! This is such a good point. I knew her mom was always turning to social media for fundraising, but for some reason hadn’t put it together with Gypsy Rose’s social media. She is doing what she was taught to do by her mama; put on a show for people and get paid. I used to feel sorry badly for her, but the more I see of her behavior I just don’t think she is good person, she is a professional victim. I mean she could have used her time in prison to get an education to do something to contribute to human society, but no instead, let me be an influencer. She’s gross.

IF she had the opportunity to avail herself of mental health care while in prison and chose not to do so, that's on her. Would she be magically healed, make good choices, and always use coping strategies that aren't maladaptive? I think you and I both know better.
She would, however, be better prepared and would have laid a foundation for therapy she could, at this moment, be continuing. She would have greater emotional and cognitive reserves upon which to draw, and she would perhaps have some insight that would enable her choose healthier means to cope.
She had a choice. She still does. She's young and can start seeing a therapist to help her confront whatever demons she has, even if it takes years. Many of us who have survived complex trauma (maybe not as murderers or inmates) have had to learn that the way we have "always" dealt with things isn't in our best interest. For her sake and the sake of everyone around her, I hope she realizes the same.

Hi Swoop, I'm an autistic man with BPD, CPTSD, and I have some higher support needs. I actually have a really successful career, and I've got a high IQ, but I have had to learn coping strategies during my work life to not be deceived. However, in my personal life I do have a lot of difficulties telling the intent of people, especially if they engage in manipulative behavior like love bombing and keep me busy (the way a narcissist would). I think Gypsy Rose is a narcissist and was able to manipulate a vulnerable man into murdering her mother. She's refused any accountability, and she loves the spotlight. Yes, she was abused, but she is now an abusive manipulator. One doesn't excuse the other. Gypsy is one of those cases (before prison) i cut speak to what she is doing now. From a clinical perspective I don't think she had the where with all to make better choices, honestly. I'm also not sure she has narcissistic personality disorder. That diagnosis is thrown out everytime someone sees a symptom in someone. I know this is a little different than a personality disorder, but the psychiatrist I got my ADHD diagnosis from would only allow online sessions, I had to specifically ask for a video call instead of a phone call. I really wish it had been in person, and I'm glad I got the help I was hoping for but it still feels 1. Anticlimactic after years of waiting for this appointment and a childhood where they just told my parents "idk she might have this but she's also socially adjusted, keep an eye on it" and 2. Unprofessional and leaves room for inaccuracies. I wish more people thought like you and pushed for in-person diagnoses because especially these days, anyone can read a list of symptoms and exaggerate these traits in the hopes of getting a diagnosis, and only a trained professional in-person could notice this and differentiate a real disorder from a lie.

Also side note I use social services in my country because I'm unemployed and they help me with driving lessons, job interviews, income while I am unemployed, etc. And I wanted to thank you for being a social worker. I'm not sure what branch of social services you work in, but it's a hugely under-appreciated industry. I remember walking into the office once for an appointment with my work broker, and there was another man in there at one of the cubicles who stood up and started smacking the table and yelling frustratedly about how he just wanted help, about how he was coming here for help and he wasn't getting any. They locked the building down, evacuated all staff and other clients into a back room, and called the police on him. I understand why they had to do this, but man I empathize with him, and I hope he still gets help, I hope there is a social worker teamed up with him who can get him the help he needs plus maybe a counsellor for his anger. I know people who say it's hopeless and that the social services are useless and never help, but there really are so many resources out there. I hope your career is full of success stories.

Swoop Gypsy has been diagnosed with a microdeletion at 1q21.1, which has contributed to her medical history, including multiple eye surgeries to prevent vision loss. However, while she claims to have undergone over 30 surgeries, her medical records indicate only four procedures, three of which were related to her eyes. Additionally, her medical history includes a biopsy to assess muscle tone and the removal of a few moles, described as minor procedures. The placement of a feeding tube was deemed medically necessary due to her failure to thrive. It is important to consider that there are concerns regarding the accuracy of her statements about her medical history, as well as indications of significant mental health challenges.

Contrary to claims, she didn't need a wheelchair at home. DeeDee remained unaware of Gypsy's true condition until 2011, when doctors finally diagnosed her, and since then, no further tests were needed. Medical records indicated that Gypsy was exaggerating her symptoms. DeeDee did not have MHBP; they were exploiting the system. A review of their medical history and interviews reveals serious mental issues, highlighting Gypsy delusions.

My mom left my brother at my house when she left so that he could help me. My husband worked in the oil field and would be leaving for a few weeks. However, before he left, he got physical with me and my brother tried to step in. I saw a side of my brother that night that I'd never seen before. He wanted to hurt my husband. Looking back on that now, I can see how I could have talked him into k*lling my husband. So I can see how Nick was talked into this. If I had given my brother a weapon and convinced him to do that, should he be the one with a lifetime in prison, or should I? Personally, I believe I should. Just like I believe gypsy should. Like I was in a really bad abusive relationship; he convinced me what was happening wasn't abusive; I became desperate to the point of thinking of ending him or myself because my mental health was increasing getting worse, lucky i didn't and my friends helped me out. But seeking help is a very easy thing to say in hindsight; if you've never been through it you really can't understand how much of your logically decision making goes out the window, battered woman syndrome exist for a reason and that's fully grown adults never mind a child thats experienced it from birth and was kept mentally stunned. She's not the first person to kill their abuser because they felt like it was the only way out. In many cases they don't believe going to get help will work out in their favour, and will lead to worse treatment. For many it's seen as a big gamble that some decide isn't worth risking the negative outcome, where as killing them is 100% going to end it.

@@ApartDragonFruit there's no evidence that she was shackled to a bed. Gypsy has also claimed that she wasn't allowed to have a phone or get online...but we know that's a lie. She spent time at Nick's house, away from her mother like she wanted, and instead of telling them of the all the horrible things that DeeDee was doing to her and begging Nick's mom to get her help she led them to believe that DeeDee was a great mother who did any and everything she had to in order to provide for Gypsy.

    • @ApartDragonFruit

@Pandy879 idk where you got the no internet or phone or anything from because gypsy has literally said that her only solace was her computer growing up. That's how she met her first boyfriend and how she watched her Disney movies, even how she met Nick. It's quite a famous part of her case...
I'm gonna blow your mind here but wait until you realise that abuse victims don't just go around telling everyone what happened to them, especially when their abuser controls the entire narrative. The two of them weren't at Nick's home for very long before they were caught, I was like a day or less. She wasn't going to tell this woman about her abusive mom when the police are actively looking for her murderers, that raises immediate suspicions.

The way she manipulated me so much he honestly thought that he was saving her life at one point. he begged her so many times just to run away with her and she refused. She wouldn’t accept any of it and since he’s actually level two autism disability for the rest of his life and life assistance it’s hard for him to lie which is why his interrogation is pretty straightforward and his story has never really changed and he’s also susceptible to manipulation.
And part of Maple leaves a gypsy also took part of it as well. There’s just way too much DNA in that room that’s connected with her and the way she lowered the temperature of the house poured baby powder around the room to decrease the smell. She planted every single step of this crime plus fully setting nick up by shipping the murder weapon to his house after the act was committed , she was the mastermind of it so tell you the truth, honest opinion the sentences should’ve been swapped. She should’ve been serving life and I’m not saying you should be out. At this point, I think he should’ve gotten a much less sentence and also go into a lockdown for mental health facility receiving lots of help because before this, he had no prior violent record his mother before she up ending her life, set the interrogation how gypsy was basically a beast and how she manipulated him and he was never violent. He was always such a sweet, good hearted kid and friends and family in the neighborhood back this up.. it’s kind of the opposite with gypsy she picked up a BB gun thinking it was a real gun and shot her mother 10 times there’s hospital records of her mother covered up the incident saying that she was robbed in Walmart so her daughter wouldn’t facing any charges. so she was planning on offering her mother before even talking to she talked Nikki into doing this for two whole years. and he loved her so much. He still has a connection with her in the way she still belittle him. Makes me sick to my stomach. I’m not saying what he did at all. I’m just saying considering that he’s on spectrum he also has severe mental health issues and low IQ functions at the level of a 10-year-old. The case should be reconsidered on his part and he needs mental healthcare..
Her she should’ve never been released at prison . She’s a nightmare of a person. Every person she comes across she ruins their life.

I am Autistic and I feel that a lot of people just don't understand what it is like. I spent my entire school experiences in special education and before I was blessed to receive Early Intervention Therapy, I was clinically diagnosed to be lower functioning than kids with Down's Syndrome at the time. I feel that there's a misrepresentation and misunderstanding in society when it comes to having Autism. Some of us can't physically be around other people when they get angry and I've never known anyone on the spectrum that had experienced psychotic ruminations to where they were willing to cause violence for the sole purpose of ending another person's existence. I can't speak for everyone but I honestly can't stand when people use developmental disabilities as an excuse to do something or a reason why they did something horrid. As I'm sure you are well aware ASD is a vast spectrum and effects everyone differently. What you might find easy, someone else might find extremely hard and visa versa. I have two children on the spectrum both on the severe end but both completely different and to the with different needs. I do agree it is no excuse to use it as a defence, but I feel to understand Nick as a person, his thought process and how vulnerable he was to manipulation it should at least be taken into consideration. Nick has always admitted his part and taken responsibility and for sure, he deserves to pay for his part in the crime. Just infuriating the person who manipulated him is as free a a bird.
