sorry to disturb you but I have a question to iron Mountain armory, I would like to have a Yoroi (kachi class) and a costume Mon to it I asked the armory on with way I have to show them and there are not responsing, sadly for me I can't visit there stores cause I live in Germany, can you help me please.

Hello Freir. TH-cam hid your comment from us and we are only seeing it now. You can simply follow the instructions on the dealer website for sending your custom mon. Typically you select "custom mon" in the options. Place your order. Then respond to your order confirmation with the custom mon in or attached to your order. The dealer will then add it to your order details for us to make for you.

It looks like the option to temper the armor's plates for dent resistance in martial arts or SCA has been recently added to the site. Was the armor not typically tempered prior to this option being added? Historically speaking, samurai armor was very rarely tempered, apparently. Blades were often quenched, but armor was typically not. It was easier to temper smaller pieces of metal than large plates (which increases the risk of a bad quench), and less costly.
Yes, this is a new option we recently started offering. You are correct that tempering of armor plates was less common. Traditionally samurai armor is crafted from small plates, riveted or laced together to make the completed armor. These armor plates could be baked in clay like ovens to temper the steel, but I don't think it was ever quenched. As Europeans spread their influence and steel into Japan, their armor crafting techniques improved, including heat treatment and thicker steel plates being used as well as larger plates.
i still can't figure out how to wear the kabuto properly with the menpo on the knot work is a bit confusing i wish you guys would make a tutorial video on how to properly wear the product amazing yoroi quality as always tho

I'm looking into the tempered armor for my combat class. Have my eye on a Do from the Taisho class and some Sode that I'll need to pair with some European style arm and leg protection down the line (Safety reasons)

There are too many options for the website to create a visual picture of products. You can select the "Mock-up" option when placing your order to receive a digital image of your order before we start making it.

Yes, all but the Hon-kozane armor is tosei yoroi. This is when armorers started using longer single strips plates as apposed to the smaller hon style plating. However the style of armor which most resembles / based on European armor is Nanban style armor. Yes, we craft this as well in Gashira, Taisho and Daimyo class. Simply search those categories or search Nanban in the search bar of www.Samurai-Armor.com :)

Amazing. How heavy is all that armor?
The entire suit weighs about 28 lbs (12.7 kg) but disbursed over the entire body. The helmet is about 5 lbs, chest is about 12 lbs, but the chest section rests upon your hips, so isn't noticeable much.

@@jeanettefreier3127 when you place your order, in the dropdown for mon select "Custom Mon". After you order you will receive an email. Reply to that email and send your file. They did a sashimono banner for me with a custom mon. Also, the Kachi class is the base class. Gashira is the mid class. And Taisho is the upper class.
