Not my Idea of proper fry up . But Harvey Nichs this time. Selfridge's too pretentious for my liking. Sautéed potatoes and oregano on uncooked tomatoe.. plus very weird cooked bacon.. plus the sausages looked very wrong...😅😅😅

@@tancreddehauteville764 😂😂😂 You sound so pretentious mate. And pretentiousness falls in the category of paying for a name and not the real Mckoy. Don't be fooled by the premises... The simple and original honest ingredients the better... Fyi, I am a chef.... 😉😉😉

You can say what you like about greasy spoon cafes, but I would rather pay under a tenner for a full English breakfast than pay £17 for a sparse breakfast where your only paying for the the name of the high end outlet

And I prefer restaurants with a good hygiene standard.
Not wondering if I'm going to spend the next few days on the loo, or throwing up and wishing I was dead.
Not wondering if there is fag-ash in the eggs, if the "chef" (haha) has been scratching his arse while cooking, or if the bacon went out of date in March.
      Each to their own.

Selfridges looks way superior in every respect not least cost performance. Actually Selfridges and John Lewis are the two department stores I may be prepared to visit, as both have proven to be of good value for money at all times.

They both looked great breakfasts and from your review. Think only I would answer as a full English is a home made treat 2/3 times a month however when staying anywhere always have them. So if I was staying near these great establishments over a couple days. Like you I'd try both. With Selfridge's I did find the sausages odd as if the chef cut the ends off for his own breakfast. The Harvey Nicks sausage looked preferable from your description. However top looking breakfasts in very smart surroundings

Making me hungry chief. Circa 10.57. Fried potatoes. Nuff said. I'm 64 now, always lived in Glasgow Scotland. My mum cooking the Sunday Fry-Up would add sliced leftover tatties to the sausage and bacon grease until crispy outside and like mash inside. An exceedingly rare treat as.... leftover potatoes in Scotland! Naw. Thanks for the content.

Hi you seem to have had a lot of Full englishs over the last couple of months. Back in the day there wasn't a lot of difference in the quality at the same price points but there was a big difference between the different price pints. I mean cheap ones were cheap and expensive ones were expensive. Recently i think the cheaper ones are more expensive and the more expensive ones are cheaper so that they sell. You seemed to like the Selfridges Breakfast ( and it looked nice) which was only slightly more expensive than ms which was only slightly more expensive than say morrisons. So would you say that Selfridges was better value than morrisons? I used have breakfast at whetherspoons and used to go to Mcd's for a burger. I have worked out that whetherspons are now not worth going to, and have upgrade mcd's for 5 guys.

2 superb plates here. However, my only pet peve is a little too much bean wet in both. I feel this is a common issue when serving beans in a side pot. To fill the pot, they focus on the bean wet rather than the bean itself to make it cost efficient, which at £14 is mildly unfair. I am for using these pots all the same as it should be your choice if you want the bean wet to touch the sausage.

Selfridges for me. BTW the thing you spread the butter on the toast with is called a knife. You can use them to cut the sausages, tomatoes etc into bite size pieces I stead of stabbing them with a fork and lifting them up to gnaw on. Definitely not etiquette. It really annoyed me.

This is the first vid the tube of u has shown me of yours. While the Harvey Nichols bacon avoided the white gunk oozing out of it like the Selfridges muck, I think I'd prefer the latter, just for the feel of getting more novelty and more scran. Those potatoes looked great, and the unevenly cooked HN sausage wasn't brilliant.

For £14 I thought the Harvey Nicks looks stingy. Drop the black pudding (bit of a waste as you either hate or like it). Should have been 2 eggs. And why does no where in the U.K. do breakfast hash or potatoes (fried diced potatoes). Which I’ve had plenty of times. Hate hash browns that look as if made in a factory. Cheap. Selfridges looked much nice and my style.

Toast v Bread is up for debate however you cannot make a butty without a FULL slice of Bread ( white warburtons ). And for anyone on the European continent if I ever see chips on my breakfast I am going to invade. You only have fried potatoes if you have them left over from the night before. Black pudding would have been a great addition for the Selfridges breakfast!

It a shame nobody seems to do fried bread anymore. Seems hash browns have replaced fried bread. Hash browns, in my opinion have no place on an English breakfast. Only potato dish the should be on an EB is bubble and squeak.

sometimes I wish I lived in civilisation, to compare, ive got a 3 hour drive for a cocked breakfast, unless I do it myself

You must live in a pretty remote place to be 3 hours drive away from civilisation!

cooked brekkies, are better at home, nine times out of 10. Timimg is critical fro every element, and fresh extra toast essential.
