Which breakfast would you choose?
Locations in description 😀
M&S wins in my opinion. Easy win.
M&S looks miles better, and having no bacon is completely unforgivable
I can't believe they didn't have any bacon on the day I went! It was a bit of a disappointment
One wonders if pork products are being fazed out to appease you know who. Only to be replaced by the dreaded ‘turkey bacon’
Personally I rate the John Lewis one a little higher as it seems better value, and the bacon was a stock issue. They also do tomatoes, which M&S don't seem to. Personally I think tomatoes belong on a full English even more than beans.
The fact that you can keep going back and getting whatever you prefer on the JL breakfast is always great too, especially if you're a fan of tea.
Not seen that one yet, (gasps in shock at no Bacon).
@BlowinFree I think meat in general - bastards.
The M&S looked best to me, I love a poached egg on a breakfast, and the streaky bacon was a nice change.
The poached eggs at M&S were great!
I've got a real.hankering for streaky bacon not had it for ages.
Definitely M&S.
Im a chef and can tell that the poached eggs are bought in ready poached. A company called Just Eggs prepares them for the catering trade
Now the question is...how does the just eggs get them so perfect to look like boiled eggs?
@@everydayimeating3407 they cook them in a mould lined with a bag. When they’re cooked pasteurised and cooled they shrink wrap them. I’m sure there’s videos online of how they do it - they do different shapes too - oval like you had an£ more of a disk shape
Do they ever go adventurous and make eggs into a star shape? Because I think that would be awesome! lol
there is no way I would have had the breakfast without the bacon. I would have gone back the next day.
I was thinking about that but that was the 3rd John Lewis I went to, to be able to get a breakfast. Not all of them do one
M&S looked the best, however the Sourdough bread from John Lewis looked good 👍🏿
Its was the biggest sourdough slice I've had to date!
Ever tried a BHS breakfast? Remember going to Edinburgh on a very early flight once - too early to contemplate breakfast. flew up, landed and got taxi to guesthouse to drop off bags (too early to check in but they were happy to hold them) - walked thru the gardens/parks to Princes St and had a top brekkie. Gave the energy needed to go explore.
I Forgot to say, which was my favourite breakfast,
M&S of course,
Based on your review,
Because we haven’t actually tasted it.. 😂
It was definitely the better breakfast!
Makes me laugh when a supermarket cafe runs out of stuff - why don’t they go into the shop and grab whatever they have run out if?
I know! And bacon is probably the most important thing lol
With any Meal the overall look needs to look appetising as well as tasting good! The M & S Breakfast was my favourite, to be honest I didn't know they did these, so definitely would try myself!! Love watching your Videos & look forward to more upcoming ones. Thank You for Sharing, Take Care 💜
Marks and Spencers looks the better breakfast to me.
It was the better one for me too
The M&S one looked the best to me
It was the best overall for me too!
The M&S vegetarian breakfast is excellent value for money too
I might have to go try it out
There’s only so many breakfasts that you can eat. Why forgo a decent breakfast to make room for a veggie one?
Vegetarian food tastes better @@caroleast9636
M&S by far. Great video. Factual, visual and you clearly enjoyed eating your breakfast. ❤
Thanks 😀 I really do enjoy eating breakfast lol
These all look pretty decent, but every time you start eating a breakfast, I am mentally reaching for the ketchup
I think they do have that available if you want it
@@everydayimeating3407 I'm sure they do,but you don't use it and it makes me antsy
The m&s wins when it comes to the most items. I mean, just look at those beans they're just about to overflow the cup it comes in
I know! You definitely get more for your money at M&S
@Everyday I’m Eating You just earned yourself a new subscriber
@@DJDonnelly amazing! Thank you 😊
@Everyday I’m Eating You're Welcome
Another banger mate loving this channel
Thank you! Glad you enjoy them 😀
Perfect poached eggs like the ones you had today at M&S
Place the bag over a bowl or ramekin and crack an egg into it. Remove the the bag from the bowl and tie up - you can use pretty much anything from a simple knot to a sandwich bag tie, or even a hair clip. Place the bag in the water and cook for 3 and half to 4 and half minutes, depending on how firm you like your egg.
🍳
✌🏻👨🏻🦰✌🏻
Okay, so I know the emoji has a Fried egg in a bun,
No poached egg emojis .
I did not know that was the way they did the eggs
@@everydayimeating3407hey're either very fresh eggs or they buy them ready poached and plunge them into water for a few seconds like the Wetherspoon ones. These wouldn't be cooked in a plastic bag. A very fresh egg will easily poach like this anyway though, as they only start to spread and get messy when the whites loosen up as they get older. Try an egg fresh from a farm and they can be poached perfectly every time, just by dropping the egg in hot water.
No way my Friend...M and S would be way to busy to be bagging poached eggs to order...they were poached in an egg poacher.
@@stuartgyves1379 they'll be bought pre-poached, I can pretty much guarantee it. They won't be arsing about with egg poachers either
@@PotatoPirate123 you're probably right.. a bit like buying in buckets of hard boiled eggs in hotels
The M&S Caffe reminds me of my flat,
A modernist delight ,
The locations and the breakfast is an absolute delight,
Great professional review .
You must have a nice flat 😀
@@everydayimeating3407
Yes a nice mid 20th century modernist delight.
Tough call here. Overall, both are top-tier frying. I suppose my only quarrel with a pot of beans in these establishments is that sometimes the bean to bean wet ratio is outweighed by the bean wet. In all fairness, there's a time and place to eat a wet bean, but a supermarket is not one of them.
Got to be the M&S. Looks delicious.
It tasted delicious too! 😋
Keep up the good work mate
Thanks 😀 Will do
M & S every time
I agree, its the better one out of the two
You make really good breakfast videos well done.
Thank you 😋
the eggs from M&S look unreal
I know! I wonder how they do that? 🤔
It would have been John Lewis for me if not the no bacon faux par... but come on peeps... where is the black pudding?! Shocked 😉😂🥰❤
Never going to be top notch till there’s a decent portion of black pudding!
@@caroleast9636 someone who speaks my language 😉
Marks like the qualify food they sell. The breakfast comes out on top with two great poached eggs. Many folk have their preference how cook them. I do my poached eggs for years now, in small bowl hot water with few dashes of vinegar. I break the egg into hot water. Lightly prick egg yolk cover bowl cling film lightly and micro wave according to choice, runny 40secs, firmer 50secs. Comes out perfect. As for John Lewis, a nice breakfast but no bacon not a true English breakfast IMO where was black pudding and tomato. My preference to heavy sauced baked beans. I do find your videos enjoyable to watch to compare the many great breakfasts you review.
The M&S one looked tastier and better value too
I agree 😀
That M&S breakfast looks very good I must say. Unfortunately, my local one doesn’t have a café. Will have to find the closest one asap!
Its definitely worth it if you find one
Ocardo do the M&S breakfast
The m&s breakfast definitely won it for me.👍💯💥
Me too!
Both look good but m&s for me
It was the better one for sure!
M&S are excellent when it comes to food..... their cafe was more warm and welcoming too, great honest review thanks.
They really do live up to their good food reputation. I think i'm going to go back and try other things
@@everydayimeating3407 Yes Indeed, I highly recommend you do, I've been a loyal shopper there for most of my life simply because their food quality is excellent and consistent.
i love a good set of revolving doors... lol cracks me up
Great video do u eat them on same day both look nice I prefer tin Tom's and pile of mushrooms
For this video I didn't but I have on previous ones.
John Lewis doesn't really have a food department, so I guess they have to order things for the restaurant separately, rather than being able to pick from the shelves anything they may be short of.
You can get poaching pockets so that your poached eggs look like those in the M&S breakfast.
I prefer proper rosti to what looks like a hash brown in the John Lewis breakfast.
If there's no bacon it's not a full English.
M&S breakfast is tasty i had one last week 👍awesome review 💯
Nice! I was surprised by how good it was. I think I was expecting a bog standard breakfast but it was much more than that
Only one egg and one piece of toast and unforgivably NO BACON. M&S clear winner, everything looked way better and those eggs!
How do they do it 🤔
M&S all the way… the toast was a Tiger Loaf as well…I was actually disappointed with the John Lewis offering. M&S Food is very good in my opinion. ….Smithy
It lives up to its reputation for good food for sure! I might have to try out more things from there
When you said creamy butter my belly sent me an order.
Another great video no waffle all about the food 😊
Thanks 😀
@@everydayimeating3407 what is wrong with waffles?
The M&S for me. I want bacon in a proper breakfast. I feel that their offering simply looked more appetising.
You would think these high street prestige outlets would push the boat out a bit with the amount and quality of there Breakfasts 😮
A good test. The better one by appearance was the M&S. I didn't catch where the John Lewis was located?
It was the John Lewis in Cheadle 😀
@@everydayimeating3407 thanks. Not used to up north.
You should do a breakfast World Cup. Might be a bit of a challenge to find 32 chains that do brekkies though haha
Thats a great idea! but I think you're right about finding the places though
@@everydayimeating3407 Could just skip the group stages and do 16. Regardless lol, good video as always!
I love this lad
M&S by a mile on cost, presentation and quality, I'd be very disappointed if served the John Lewis breakfast and surely they could find bacon in the store or even go out for some.
I know! How could they not have bacon???
Shame was no black pudding. M&S black pudding is amazing!
The tomato at JL, wasn't fully ripe.
Definitely M&S for me! 😋😋😋
That would explain why it was sour! M&S for me too
MnS is the best, looks slightly better in the Oxford street one in London
If a cafe said no Bacon today, it would be an instant exit for me and i probably wouldn't return and in this case they most likely sell it in the shop part.
It was a shock to me too that they didn't have bacon
M&S hands down but even saying that they were clever to call it a Big Breakfast and not a Full English as there were items missing from the meal....no black pudding or fried tomatoes.
M&S looked delicious😊
It tasted delicious!
Marks and Spencer for me thanks!
£11 for m&s with that quality of food is amazing .. john lewis brecky looks abit to dry and clean for a full english if you know what i mean and no bacon whats that all about there letting themselves down abit there
I know! I can't believe they didn't have any bacon. Thats probably what I most look forward to
Hey mate please go and try a breakfast at hawksmoor absolutely divine ❤
I've never heard of Hawksmoor, what is it?
@Everyday I’m Eating steakhouse in London they have one in Manchester too look it up and have a go you won't regret it
I'll have a look
Both were good but I guess M&S had better quality
John Lewis one looks very tight
Defo M and S
M&S was the better one for me too!
That M&S breakfast looks incredible... and the bacon is cooked to perfection. The John Lewis breakfast, not so good.
Not a fan of beans on a full English but the mushroom made up for it.
Got to be Tinned tomatoes and WHERE,S the Black Pudding?
I don't see tinned tomatoes that often now
This was the equivalent of Man City V Arsenal 🍳 ⚽️ 🥓 🥳
Am hoping Arsenal replicate the M&S victory here 😆
Sometimes I wonder how M&S consistently maintain their high end standards. This is something that Waitose has struggled to match over recent years. I stray off the breakfast topic but this video does mirror the wider result too.
Maybe with M&S, they are a little more streamlined in their stores. Perhaps this concentrates the quality of service delivery moreso.
Waitrose have a wider range & are closer to a generic store ~ even if their pricing makes them socially different to the likes of Tesco or Asda. I think M&S knows itself better & the experience there is a real treat (well for me anyway lol 😁)
Whereas John Lewis Waitrose can feel like it used to be something it no longer is.
Maybe Sainsbury's could contest Waitrose for a distant 2nd to the M&S breaky 🥳
Good analysis. Breakfast of the day?
Waitrose breakfast as a loosener to get warmed up... then M&S for the main event 🦍
John Lewis and Waitrose are being totally mismanaged at the moment. At least Sharon White has announced her departure but I don't know why she can't go straight away. M&S had a dodgy spell a few years ago, but it seems to have recovered now, although it's still not perfect. I don't know why there isn't a Waitrose Food Hall in all John Lewis stores. Oxford Street and Bluewater have them, and there's probably a few more, but there's not many. John Lewis to me seems like a southern based company that has contempt for the north. M&S has northern roots and has never forgot them even though it's based in London.
M&S wins hands down!
They were definitely the better breakfast!
M S Definitely. All the time. 👍
It was the better on for sure here
Surely M&S beans are their own brand?
They tasted a lot like Heinz to me
They more than likely use their own instore cheap bean as that's how they make maximum profit.
Another more famous TH-camr who swore he could tell Heinz beans from any other was put to a blindfold challenge , he chose the cheaper bean every time 🤣
M & S Cost £ 11 7 different items.
john Lewis £ 9.50 plus tea cost £11.85 7 different items. there is more beans here
just most does not look filling, since the plate with amount of items on it just does not look much for the cost.
for 9.50 for 7 things is £1.36 each which is quiet a lot of money for what you are getting.
may be find the place that offers the best value.

M&s for me
Me too! 🙋♂️
Has to be M&S. It is a food crime not to have bacon on a breakfast, don’t know what John Lewis were thinking.
which was 3 and 6, and which was 5 Bob, BTW why are you eating Cold Toast
❤❤M/S always have gr8 food always did ❤❤
Don’t go much on streaky bacon on a full English
Got to be M&S
It was the better one for me!
Those were not rosti, it was bubble and squeak.
definately M&S
It was my choice too 😀
11 quid for brekkie? Must be up north prices!
Ms won easy
Enjoy watching 👀
I though they would be quite similar but yes M&S defo takes it!
M&S
I agree 😀
No pudding either
M&S was the best
I agree!
M & S looked far better than John Lewis. You have to go a long way to beat M & S 👍 13:11
It definitely won this breakfast battle
M&S a win , no bag in = S& M
Ooooooh a controversial one 😉
The M and S bacon was overdone and I don't like mushrooms on breakfasts or potatoes, and the other breakfast was just wrong NO BACON 😮😮
i dont think ever been in a j.l not sure Bradford has one? m ns wins this time
I preferred them too on this occasion
m&s looked better for me. i missed the price for that. have you ever seen a horse mushroom
The M&S one was £11. I have not seen a horse mushroom before but I'm guessing its massive lol
@@everydayimeating3407 very big .size of s plate but hard to find
They poached the egg’s in there shells .
Really? so its kind of half boiled? 🤔
M & s
I agree!
Another awesome video… I’m with you the M&S is a winner!!
It wasn't just food. It was M&S food 😀
@@everydayimeating3407 classic 👏🏽

Work on your table manners, Sunshine.
Marks looks better nicer
It does and theres more items too!
You can tell that they are both catering to old people with money. Good quality but tiny portions.
M&S wins.

There not Heidi beans there m@s owne better than heinz and half the price
"English" breakfast? Where did this thing with hash browns or rosties come from? Traditionally, an English breakfast has fried bread.
marks n sparks breaky looks the best, john lewis looks basic
Wouldn’t waste my money on either of them, especially the pathetic John Lewis offering!
