Revisiting the comments under that video - seems like the most common popular comments were roasting your polish, dissing Welsh, or being lightly bemused by your appearance. Lovely internet - negativity always wins
You sir are an inspiration! Are you Welsh?!? I am fluent in Te Reo (the language of my people the Māori) which is my first language. I am also obviously fluent in English however I'm eager to learn Mandarin.
I’ve seen it numerous times, and most of the comments I’ve seen (mainly from Facebook) were those doubting your title of “Hyperpolyglot”, reason being, that you only (as you said) spoke multiple languages in short successions and labeled you as another “Polyglot TH-camr” - meaning, people who learn basic phrases in different languages and then go out into public recording themselves having small conversations with people and then calling themselves a polyglot for views.
Those comments are fair enough. I totally get them. No one has the time to go into depth and few are even that interested. These interviews crave the fast changes and short soundbites for that reason. Same as the catchy thumbnails and short videos online too. That’s also understandable. It’s entertainment that many are after, followed by the chance to write what they think quickly to release whatever emotion they’re feeling at that point. I’m unsure if there is a true happy medium to be had here. We can never please everyone anyway, so what can you do, right?
