Hi Peggy, my wife and I were up in your neck of the woods last week, on a mini vacation. Old Orchard Beach, York, and Kittery. Chilly and rainy but we still enjoyed the area. You are blessed to live in such a beautiful part of this country. "Parchese"....? Earl Connecticut
Parcheesi --I really like the shape of that bowl. The wood is very nice. Looks to me like you did a good job. Thank you for sharing your time and your talent.
Very different from the norm and that is great. I love the wood you chose for the lid, it goes perfectly with the wood of the bowl. The shape of the bowl is a show stopper! Fantastic work!! It turned out absolutely amazing!
parcheeeeezeeee - My wife gave me a denim turning apron from Rockler. I like it. It has a good neck closure and a small chest pocket. Easy to through in the laundry. Light weight - Florida workshop.
Peggy, Parcheesi is a great descriptor for this lid! Also, "Don't do stupid shit!" cracked me up. I have to make a couple-three bowls for my daughter's theatre to auction and you've given me a great idea. I have just the right offcut for the lid. Thanks!
Parcheesi is the name, and winning is the game. Ghostbusters, On Golden Pond, Seinfeld, and more mention the game. So you want an apron, and here I was thinking that you were making Ghille Suits. Beautiful wood, beautiful lidded bowl. Your work is always so pretty. I am not sure what all the comments about your finials being a Sorry game piece, it is beautiful the way you made it. Looking forward to when you start to color your turnings again. Peace, Love and Bobby Sherman. 🐱👤🐱👤🐱👤
I bought a cheap chiefs jacket from Amazon and my wife added about 16 inches to the bottom so it's like a lab coat but the zipper is covered and the neck closes up good. I like it
Really lovely design and work on your lidded bowl I think it's stunning Peggy - good luck with selling all your items - I don't know what part cheesy means but here I am saying it!
Hi! You were asking about aprons. I have a bright red PVA milking apron, which I use while turning. It is adjustable at the waist, and around the neck. It can get a bit sweaty on warm days, but otherwise it works really well. My clothes stay clean. The neck adjustment means I can wear open neck clothes, and reduce the amount of shavings which go down my neckline. The apron covers me down to my ankles, but isn't so cumbersome that it impedes movement while turning. It also means that I can kneel, to sweep under my lathe, without my trousers getting covered in shavings. I do like this lidded bowl: A much more sensible term than "box"!
Nice Parcheesi Bowl! Careful wearing your watch while turning. The dust can be a real killer. I managed to ruin one a few months ago, but it did get replaced under warranty.
Look into a barber smock. They normally have front pockets with bottom zippers so you can clean shavings out easy. The material allows shavings to brush off easy
Parcheesi! I would think one of your T-Shirts would work, they seem like the shavings would fall out ok. But then, being in Portland Maine, maybe you need the long sleeves much later in the season? I love the lid on this bowl. The wood above the resin patch looks almost golden to me.
Good evening, Peggy. I like your lidded bowl. The resin in the lid made it pop. I use a turners smook while playing Parcheesi, it keeps the chips off. Got mine from Craft Supply.
Hello Peggy. You mention the need for an apron. I use one from Easywood tools, it is nylon and works great for not allowing wood chips to stick to it. I looked for a long time before settling on the Easywood tools one. I purchased it at Woodcraft store. The one drawback is short sleeves, and moving around the lathe a handle will sneak up the short sleeve now and then and hook me. 😬 I would suggest you look at a salon supply store and try one like the hair dresser uses. A barber shop could help to put you on to one. The salon shop is a good bet. They are thin, cool and you may can find a long sleeve which is best. I could not find a barber one in a 2x. Don't get too tight nor loose. I have seen a noted lady wood turner use a mans shirt long sleeve put on backwards. Worked great for her. Good luck.
Parcheese? I had in mind the dome of a beautiful building in Russia. Beautiful project. I'm glad the piece that broke didn't bite you. Thanks for sharing 👍
@@PFWoodturning We just moved back to Maine after 5 years down South. Temporary living in Saco while a new house is contracted in OOB. We’re neighbors. 😁
10:15...first look at the lid with finial...bloody hell I got nervous from several states away! All that grain character in that piece, slender profile, epoxy...I can see so many ways that could have failed, but persistence is rewarded! Nicely done.👍
Peace out to you Peggy and that is a lovely lidded bowl. I’ve just made three lidded boxes, two to give away and a third so I can remember in the future how I made them! I have an Axminster smock. It’s useful as it has short sleeves and the pockets are in the back and don’t get full of shavings. But I often forget to wear it and I can’t get rid of the sawdust on my my wooden tops 🌞
Great looking lidded parchessie bowl... I've seen friends use cheap light windbreaker for turning aprons...nylon doesn't stick to shavings.. if it's lightweight enough it doesn't get to warm....most zipper high on neck to close off neck area.

Love that splash of blue in that parcheesi piece. When you mentioned that game, it brought back some great memories.
Thanks, Paul!

Its a very pretty lidded bowl! I love the color contrast and the shape of the finial
Thanks 😊
I’ve never played “Parcheesi”, but the piece looks like a game piece from the board game “Sorry!” Another wonderful piece of art!!!
Yes, I think it is like a "Sorry" game piece.
Nice Parcheesi Bowl!
Careful wearing your watch while turning. The dust can be a real killer. I managed to ruin one a few months ago, but it did get replaced under warranty.

I use a Nurse’s smock to keep the cuttings off me. They’re long sleeve and button or snap all the way up. Your work is always top notch.
Great idea! Thanks!
Looks great, Peggy. That lid looks like a parcheesi piece but also like a chess pawn. Take care.

Yes, that too! Thanks, Bill!

The top of that looks like an old Parcheesepiece that I played with as a kid. Great job. Peace out ✌️
Thanks very much 😎✌️
I have never played parcheezi but the top looks like a Sorry game piece. Great turning!
Yeah, I think that's actually what I meant is the "Sorry" game piece.
Great looking lidded parchessie bowl...
I've seen friends use cheap light windbreaker for turning aprons...nylon doesn't stick to shavings.. if it's lightweight enough it doesn't get to warm....most zipper high on neck to close off neck area.
